We stayed here for 2 nights and we really appreciated everything about it.Marco - Geneva, Switzerland
Firstly the hotel is perfectly located! You can get there with your car (and has a parking) and it is literally 1 minute walk to be in the middle of the Medina.
Secondly the hotel looks beautiful and is well maintained and taken care of.
Finally the staff was super friendly and attentive and made everything to accommodate our wishes (even anticipating breakfast time since we had to leave early), not to mention that the breakfast itself was wonderful.
Cannot say anything else than: highly recommend for a stay in Fes
A stunning riad with incredible views over Fes….we felt like kings and queens for our stay here. The staff was attentive and kind & the rain shower was perfect after a day of wandering the medina.Brandy - Vancouver, Canada
Charming, charismatic and perfectly located at the edge of the Medina, where its easily accessible both by car and foot. Private complimentary parking was a huge bonus. What surprised us however was the warmth and hospitality showered on us upon our late night arrival. Redouane was super attentive to our needs, and Jerome was ever so lovely and generous with his time to chat with us. The whole team left a deep impression and we would certainly recommend a stay in this Riad!Shangli - Singapour

Riad Layalina was everything we’d hoped for. Jerome communicated in a timely manner, the Riad was charming and the staff was very accommodating – even preparing breakfast for us at 0645 before leaving. The location is excellent.
We had a lovely stay at Jerome’s place. The Riad is beautiful, and the location is very convenient for touring the Medina. The breakfast was lovely and the staff are wonderful.Susan - Seattle, USA
We had wonderful time at Riad Layalina. The staff is very warm and welcoming with great hospitality. The Riad is beautiful architecturally, has a gorgeous courtyard and oversize room and nice view. The place is close to shops and restaurants in Medina. We loved the breakfast every morning – including Moroccan tea & onion Msemen. The Riad was key part of our Fes experience; we will highly recommend this Riad.Ajay - Monroe Township, USA
We have book the riad for a family stay mid Dec 2022. Nothing we can say except, if you would like to experience a great Moroccan stay with a nice family go ahead and book.Rachid - Marrakesh, Morocco
Excellent location, great communication and welcoming staff.
Perfect for seeing all the sites of Fez. Communication was excellent with clear instructions for finding the Riad. The bed and bathrooms made us feel like royalty. The included breakfast was a great way to start our day. WiFi was also great for getting some work done as a digital nomad. As a bonus, they had secure parking for our two motorcycles. Overall, a wonderful experience and a great memory of Fez.Travis - Coronado, USA
The location is superb. The atrium decor is the best I saw in all the riads I stayed on. The breakfast was the best I ate on my trip to Morocco. Excellent and warm hospitality from Asmaa and Radouane.Kaio - London, UK

The staff was dedicated and they even sorted a last minute lunch for 11 people that was ordered 45 minutes before our arrival! Amazing!!
Would definitely recommend and the location close to the walls allows you easy access with the car in and out + walking to the Medina.
Riad Layalina is a lovely place to stay perfectly situated within the Medina. We were made to feel very welcome and well looked after. The breakfast was very pleasing with local delicacies. The staff and Jerome couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome and help us. The bed and room were very comfortable. We would highly recommend this Riad and will definitely be back again.Karen - Lorient, France
Jerome was amazing His place is very traditional, great view of the mountains and the medina. The staff is incredible. The cooking is the best in Fes. We did go to some fancy places and less fancy, but still nothing compares to his place. I had my birthday party at the Riad and I cannot tell how wonderful it was. Everything was super well organised. Also the Riad back door gets you inside the medina super easy. highly recommend this Riad and Jerome is fantastic.Brigitte - London, UK
Hospitality at its best! If you are looking for a beautiful experience in Fes, I highly recommend staying at Riad Layalina. Radouane and Asma went above and beyond the make us feel welcome. Radouane made many arrangements- taxi pick up, city tour guide, buying train tickets, etc.. if we needed anything- he made it happen. He made us feel like family. Asma prepared delicious meals for us, greeted us with kind, beautiful smiles and even cared for me when I felt sick. The Riad was clean, comfortable and in an ideal place to explore the Medina. The colorful mosaic tiles, intricate carvings, decor and views made for a very unique/authentic experience. Undoubtedly, you will be pleased to stay here!Holly - Durango, USA

Totally charming, personal and friendly welcome in the heart of Fès. Delicious & generous meals served in the beautiful patio, rooftop terrace perfect for relaxing. We would definitely return!Tessa - Munich, Germany
We had a great 3-night stay at Riad Liyalina during our visit to Fes. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, the riad is absolutely beautiful, and the included breakfast is a treat. The pool and well-functioning AC were great perks. Wonderful location easy walking distance to the medina and sights of Fes.Emily - Durham, USA
Very clean. Beautiful interior and decorations. We recommend having dinner here once – the tajine was our favorite, and we ate a lot of it everywhere else! Great communication. Location is about a 2 minute walk from one of the main medina streets.Bryan - Minneapolis, USA
Jerome and Redouane made us feel so welcome during our stay, and organised a guide for us to take us around the Medina. Such a beautiful Riad! The rooms were stunning and we had a delicious breakfast spread. The Riad is also walking distance from the Medina which was very convenient. We had dinner in the Medina, and Redouane was kind enough to walk us to the restaurant and walk us back as you can easily get lost in the streets! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Fes!Chrstine - Munich, Germany
Staying in this Riad was amazing. Even if you arrive really late (in our case 23.30h) they still persist on making you a nice dinner so you won’t go hungry to bed. The location is very close to the medina, the food is amazing, the riad itself is more then beautiful in traditional style. We had a huge room, and there was also a nice swimming pool and a roof terrace available. The staff and owner were super welcoming at helped us with everything we needed, they made our stay! Would definitely recommend this place if you’re planning in staying in Fez!!!Lisa - Amsterdam, Netherlands
This Riad is an oasis. A beautiful, relaxing interior. Kind welcoming staff. Delicious food. Excellent location.Thomas - Sarajevo, Bosnia
We stayed in the Riad Layalina for 4 nights in September. The service was great and the Riad itself is a Moroccan architectural marvel. The owner of the Riad was present while we were there and provided us several recommendations that were excellent and took us through the history of the restoration. The Riad which was very interesting. As well, we had some significant challenges during our stay and the owner and staff were helpful and accommodating which was appreciated. The Riad is located at the edge of the Medina which made it convenient for pick up and drop off.Tannis - Toronto, Canada
Jerome and Redouane were both very nice and made us feel extremely welcome. The Riyadh is beautiful and located a perfect distance from the old Medina so that it is very easy to find from the airport. The rooms were beautiful and had everything you would need , including high speed WiFi. I’d highly recommend anyone to stay here.
Would definitely stay againMostafa - London, UK
Highly recommend and would love to return again. We felt very welcomed to the Riad, like a second home. We enjoyed excellent meals from the lovely cook Asma.Samira - Melbourne, Australia
Disney isn’t the only happy place here on earth try going to Fes Morocco and stay at the Riad Layalina Fes. The staff were the most charming people I have ever came in contact with during all my years of travel. They were hospitable, inviting and friendly. There host made me truly feel like I was a brother. The food we ate every morning was so delightful and filling a pleasant change from what I was use to having It was the perfect start for us to begin our day. The accommodations was nice and cozy and well thought out. The place will make you think about the story of the Arabian night. This place is truly a must go to during your travels. It sits right outside the wall so it is accessible by car.Debbie & Wendy and husbands, Philadelphia - USA
Perfect location for visiting the Medina but more important a wonderful Riad, very well restored with very helpful and friendly owners . Highly recommended the suite that has an amazing view of the old city. Top notch breakfast and the refreshing pool.Riccardo, Dublin - Ireland
Jerome made this as easy and wonderful of a stay as possible… and the in-house cooking – specifically the Tagine, was magnificent!
Thank you for everything – perfect for the evening, perfect tour guide, exceptional food.Jeremy - New York, USA
We were looking for a nice place to stay in our trip to the Fes medina and we found this amazing Riad with two kind host. They manage to make us feel as we were home.
As soon as we arrived ( and it was late in the night) they received us with a delicious dinner. We’ve stayed in the suite, it was clean and private toilet inside the room. Fantastic views from there!
Every morning they prepared us a typical breakfast with fruit, lots of kind of breads, and orange juice.
Having a bath in the wonderful swimming pool after a long city tour was phenomenal.
And also they were really helpful when we ask for print our boarding pass on a Sunday in the medina ( fes airport doesn’t accept online boarding pass) , they took us to the place, we wouldn’t never found it without their help!!
A special mention to Yassine , the driver that pick us and took us back to the airport, he was one of the nicest person that we’ve met in Fes. He even gave us a sim card just in case we need it!Adrien - Madrid, Spain
We had a great stay at this Riad, it was a really beautiful place and the pool was lovely and relaxing. The breakfast was amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and decorated beautifully in the traditional Moroccan style. the location was also great as it was right by the old medina.Ashley - Maidenhead, UK
Highly friendly people, like a family home. The staff is willing to help you with everything. The riad is close to the medina, just few steps. The swimmingpool is lovely for cooling down after a stroll through the medina. The food is very tastfull and freshly made, more than enhough! We would highly recommend this riad!Jeanine - Amsterdam, Pays-Bas
The management & entire staff were extremely hospitable, doing everything possible to make us welcome & comfortable during our stay.Roger - Charlestown, USA
The individual rooms & entire riad was extraordinarily beautiful & authentic Moroccan.
The small open air cooling pool was a plus !
We had such a great stay at Riad Layalina! We booked our room at the very last minute after the riad we had booked in advance overbooked and left us hanging. From the second we arrived we were treated like family! The owner Jerome took care of our booking over the phone and the caretaker Radouane provided us with a delicious welcome dinner! Our room was beautiful and very clean, and the entire riad was gorgeous and well cared for. It’s also only a quick walk into the shops of the Medina so it’s a great location! We felt well taken care of from start to finish – Riad Layalina was the best part of our very short visit to Fes. I would definitely recommend a stay here!Kate - Philadelphie, USA
We had a wonderful stay at Riad Layalina and Radouane and Asma made our stay fantastic. They were extremely helpful with everything and gave us good advise for staying in Fes. We Can highly recommend the Riad – my daughter had misplaced her earings and we left without them, however Radouane found them and ran to the station where we were in the train – he found us and gave us the lost earings. Wonderful people from a wonderful Riad.Carolina - Copenhagen, Denmark
Traveled around the world, our family have met so many different hosts globally, I must say that the on-site staff Radouane made all the difference for this listing. He lets our family felt so pampered during our entire stay and the chef was also a sweetheart lady. Highly recommend this place if you go to Fez. And thank you Radouane, we will always remember your hard work and your smile!Sabrina - NYC, USA
Beautifully close to the medina, a cool oasis brimful of tranquillity and friendliness. Amazing architecture, lovely rooms, wonderful staff.Ingrid - Metung, Australia
Layalina Riad is the most relaxing and peaceful place I have ever visited. Its personnel makes you feel always welcome. Esma it’s a great cook, everything she makes has and unique taste, and Radouane keeps an eye on each guest like his own family. I’m glad to recommend the place to everyone around the world and suggest visiting them at least for a weekend or so.José - Porto Rico
The name of the wifi at Riad Layalina is “welcome home.” We felt this to be every bit true. After a particularly hard time getting to Fez, we were so grateful to be welcomed by the incredibly warm and honest staff at Layalina. The hosts welcomed us with open arms, took care of us, and even introduced us to family members who were visiting in fez, including their children who were wonderful. The riad was beautiful and clean, with a roof deck overlooking the old city of Fez, where you can catch sunrise and sunset. There is also a small pool to swim in and cool off. We also had most of our meals here which were delicious and arranged exactly as we requested. The staff was incredibly accommodating and went the extra mile to make us feel safe in a foreign country where being a tourist can make you feel vulnerable. It goes a long way in being able to enjoy your time knowing that the hosts are trustworthy and have your best interest at heart.Miles - Philadelphia, USA
It was so sad to leave! The riad and the team became our home away from home! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome…
Radouane and Asma are the perfect hosts. The riad is stunning, so relaxing. Beautiful tiled space, gorgeous to the intricate details, by the pool and the plants, making you want to kick back. Such a wonderful respite after the medina which is just a couple of steps away. And then the cooking….night after night Moroccan cuisine to die for. Then off to bed (it’s so lovely and quiet!) and wake up for a delicious breakfast.
And ask for Yessim to shuttle you back and forth or to do a tour: he’s such a great, fun guy!
I just wish we could have stayed longer. Next time. Thank you to our lovely new friends for such a warm, memorable stay and for the laughs!Nathan - Canberra, Australia
A perfect place to stay for a visit in Fes! Minutes from the Blue Gate and souks, with a distant view of the Marinid tombs. Despite being so central and conveniently located, we were able to park our rental car in the riad’s private parking area, which was a huge relief. We arrived late our first night, and Radouane welcomed us very warmly despite the late hour. Breakfast and dinner were delicious – Esme’s cooking was better than our dinner out! We were made to feel very much at home by both. You’ll want to spend time in the pool and beautiful courtyard. Can’t recommend this place enough!Alexandra - Ann Arbor, USA
Layalina was one of the best things about our stay in Fes. The location is excellent, 2 min from the main Medina area yet very quiet. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. As an interior designer, I was blown away by the design of this space! So much original incredible detail while also making the updates so it’s very comfortable. The staff is stellar- super friendly, helpful and accommodating. And hilarious ;)!! Bed is very comfortable, linens first rate, the FOOD- Asmae cooking is truly above and beyond. As is her brother Redouine with your every need ! Thank you all – I absolutely loved it !Christina - New-York, USA
My friends and I stayed at Riad Layalina and I have to say it was our favorite spot in Morocco! Not only is the Riad absolutely beautiful, but our “host parents” as we named them were just so kind and accommodating. They cooked amazing meals for us, looked after us, and honestly treated us like family. They made our time at Fes feel homey and safe. We will definitely be back!!Margie - New-York, USA
When you travel to Fes, which I highly recommend, your stay at Riad Layalina will give you the opportunity, not only of an excellent room in a beautifully restored house but also of being welcomed by sweet people. They look after your every need and make you feel at home. Their care and friendliness is their greatest asset.Sharon - Berlin, Deutschland

+ : Location is ideal because it is right next to the Medina but is directly accessible by car in case you need to park or get dropped off. Staff was exceptional, always available and willing to help. I requested dinner relatively late (after 9 PM) and it was not a problem. I was asked every day when I wanted breakfast the next morning and was given a feast. Room was very large with great AC and good wifi (both never failed) and a big shower. Hosts gave me contact information and a map which I didn’t really want to use, but I’m sure could come in handy. The riad does have a pool which appears to be open for use at any time, I never got around to it, but it looked very pretty.Michael - USA
– : Nothing. I had no qualms with the Riad at all. Fes was a bit much for me as some of the people in the medina were way more aggressive than in Marrakech, but this Riad was the highlight of that part of my trip.
Very warm welcome and hospitality from Jerôme and his staff. Food was excellent anytime. Breakfast with baguette, butter, jam, cheese and egg. Fresh orange juice, croissants. Fruits in-between. The cook spoiled us with traditional Moroccan food like Tajine, Poulet au citrons et couscous. Each meal delicious.Hildegard - Zurich, Switzerland
We had a short stay at Riad Layalina, but we felt so welcomed that it became like home in Fez.Joana - Lisbon, Portugal
The room was very comfortable, clean, spacious , and had a balcony with a wonderful view to the Medina
Everything was exceptional, comfort, kindness of owner and staff, location, meals dinner and breakfast very exquisite.
Riad, preserved with admirable care.
A dreamy riad in an excellent location! Very well connected to the best part of the medina, close to many souks, restaurants, and monuments, but also quiet and tranquil at night. The pool was an amazing plus (especially with the Morroccan heat!). And Jerome and the riad staff were attentive, welcoming, and had great recommendations for virtually everything you want to do! Oh, and the food was delicious! A definite must-stay. I hope to be back soon!Patrick - Béziers, France
Come to Fez and stay with Jerome at Riad Layalina! It’s truly a gem with unbelievable hospitality. We loved everything about it: the room, the food, the view, the ease of coming and going so close to the medina and the edge of the city. When we return to Fez, we will return to Riad Layalina. Maybe we’ll see you there!Brian - Wayne, USA
We had a wonderful stay in the Riad Layalina. It’s a beautiful riad with a great location, just a few steps from the chaos of the shopping area, but in a historic residential area. The food at the hotel was some of the best we had in Morocco. The rooms were very comfortable and remarkably cool considering the temperature outside (without using the room’s included AC). The staff were really helpful and friendly, and there is a private, gated parking lot attached to the hotel.Marc - Jegun, France
P.S. when you pass the lower public parking lot, the guys there will try to convince you to park there and that they are the hotel parking lot, drive past them directly to the hotel. I don’t think they are scamming people, they just don’t know that the hotel has their own parking lot as most don’t.
We experienced a very warm welcome and had the most wonderful time in Layalina riad. It added to the magic of staying in Fez and was a true calm oasis after long walks and the beautiful chaos of the Medina. Perfect place to tap into the luxurious side of Fez, while at the same time feeling right at home. And the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back again!Tina - Gers, France
Stayed here two nights. Didn’t make a reservation and just showed up in the morning. Received a very warm welcome and a nice breakfast. Beautiful Riad, not far from the main road, close to the Medina and safe parking for my motorcycle. Lovely people devoted to make your stay as pleasant as possible.Maarten - Amsterdam, Netherland
We were offered such kind hospitality from the start – being greeted happily and offered refreshments upon arrival. The hosts were so accommodating and did whatever they could to make our stay more enjoyable. Radouane made us feel like old friends right away! The Riad itself is BEAUTIFUL and the rooms very comfortable and clean. It is a short walk to the Medina and many shops and restaurants. You won’t be disappointed!Allison - Missoula, USA
Booked a 2 bedroom suite for a grandpa, two women and a baby for one night. Jerome the owner was so accommodating with our changes in plans and Ridwan immediately helped with our luggage and settling in while Asmae greeted us with an amazing tagine lunch right when we arrived. The suite was gorgeous and spacious and we could smell the orange blossom tree from the windows. The staff made this beautiful riad with all the supplies into a homie and helpful space. They completely exceeded our expectations. Gorgeous bathrooms, linens, and soaps with lots of beautiful views. We were also able to walk to the Medina from there.Nadia - New York, USA
I had a lovely stay. This was my second time. Good food and service. They look after me very well and helped to find a good driver to Chefchouen. Love them!Linda - Chicago, USA
We had such a wonderful time at Riad Layalina Fes. They truly embodied their central theme – “welcome home.” We enjoyed their bountiful hospitality – they coordinated a private driver to pick us up as we arrived in the evening from the train, we elected for their dinner option for which the chef cooked an incredible meal including a chicken and olive tagine, enjoyed their Riad which had the most beautiful tile and wood work and shade of an orange tree, and had a full breakfast the following morning before departing early for Merzouga. Our hosts were able to serve breakfast when we needed to get out the door on time. We wish we could have stayed longer!! While I’m sure this would be an amazing place to stay in any situation, if you’re like us with some specific timelines for travel this Riad is excellent. They were so kind with their coordination, everything ran incredibly smoothly, and we were well taken care of. Not a single need of ours went unmet.Elizabeth – Fort Walton Beach, USA
Don’t hesitate to stay and enjoy some relaxing time in a classic accomodation! Ask for a tour to Le Domaine De La Pommeraie, a small goat farm making goat cheese and fig jams! You’ll drive and hopefully stop in the New Center for a peek into Modern Moroccan life. Wonderful contrast.Sandra - Flagstaff, USA
I really enjoyed my stay there. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! This riad is a beautiful place to stay.Leonardo - Bellikon, Switzerland
You feel like family and are immediately greeting with the best hospitality. We came after a long day of travel, and they gave us tea and the warmest welcome. The place is clean and beautiful in a perfect location. We wish we could have stayed longer.Barbara, Chicago - USA
Ridhouan and his family provided one of the nicest stays we’ve ever had. It was something like being part of the family. We showed up a little late and he had a hot home-cooked dinner waiting for us so that we wouldn’t have to go out into an unfamiliar city at night. The Riad was clearly a little slow, but that meant that we got a full service experience. Staying here was like having a rent-an-uncle service. Ridhouan noticed a few issues with our rental car and offered to help get a local guy to fix a tail light at local-friendly prices. The Riad also works with a local guide, Amin, who brought us on a full day tour of the city for a quoted price of 600 Dh (~$60); more than worth it! Between Ridhouan and Amin we got our Covid tests sorted out, paperwork printed, the city explored, and we had a beautiful stay.Joshua - New-York, USA
The riad is super beautiful and nicely located. The old medina is less than 5 min by foot away. The employees of the riad were taking extensive care that we have the best possible stay there. Raduan organised a walking tour and also took care that our following desert trip would be nice and safe. Even after we checked out, he contacted us on our desert trip to verify that all is good. Thank you!Bernhardt - Hamburg, Germany
This place was incredible. From our host to the beautiful riad, we can’t say enough positive things about the stay. They were so welcoming and the food Esma made was some of the best we had in Morocco. I will absolutely stay here again in the future when I travel to Fes. You are steps from the heart of the Medina and you’ll enjoy your stay as much as we did!Kristin - San Diego, USA
The Riad is a beautiful authentic Riad in the Medina of Fes. Super convenient to the Medina and outlook to view the sunset. Radouane and Asmae are the best hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay the very best. They organized a tour through the maze of the Medina. The breakfast and dinner prepared there was the best we had in Morocco. Wonderful authentic accommodations. Beautiful details throughout and best location to visit Fes.Diana - Richmond, USA
Riad Layalina is lovely and serene in the midst of the chaos of the medina. Morocco is still just opening up again after the covid year and I was the only guest. My room was beautiful and overlooked the courtyard and pool. The terrace has incredible views of the city. My hosts treated me very graciously and helped me to navigate the area around the hotel. Kind people and a beautiful property!Linda - Chicago, USA
We had a great stay. Mohammed was so helpful, we appreciated all his support and hospitality. The riad was close to the Medina, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, and the fresh mint tea was delicious. Would stay again.Kira - San Francisco, USA
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riad Layalina. We were met by a taxi organised by the Riad and made to feel very welcome on our arrival. Staff were all very helpful, accomodation very comfortable and plenty of hot water. They organised a meal that was more than adequate after our late return from Chechaouen .The breakfasts were amazing!!Jo - Perth, Australia
There’s simply no other place to stay at in Fes. The location was excellent, staff were amazing, and Jerome communicated with us quickly. If you are traveling with a car there is safe parking on site and the location is just steps from the old medina. Breakfast was amazing each morning and was the perfect way to start the day.Kyle - Lancaster, USA
Beautiful Riad with stunning views on the Medina of Fès. Delicious Food and breakfast, very kind staff and perfect location near the main road of the Medina.Basti - Waakirchen, Germany
I loved this place because it had an amazing view and it was on the border of the Médina but not directly inside. The air was clean to breath and the breakfast was much better than most places I’ve stayed- more French leaning! Thank you.Laura - Madison, USA
We were greeted with the most welcoming hospitality. It was beautiful and easy to get to. We were provided with a paper map and local spots that were helpful to get around. Breakfast was very delicious and filling and we could not wish for a better spot. We would recommend this riad to anyone traveling to Fez.Britteny - Harrison, USA
Nice welcome lunch and subsequent breakfast. Nicely ornate Riad that has on-site gated parking and within minutes to the main streets of the ancient Medina. A quiet reprieve from the bustling Medina streets. Great choice that won’t disappoint.Jackson - Portland, USA
This was our first stop in Morocco and it couldn’t have been better. The place is gorgeous, just like you imagined and even better than the pictures. The staff was extremely helpful. They constantly went out of their way for us. We arrived late and we’re too tired to go out for dinner. They tell you that if you want to eat there to give them notice (they make everything from scratch so they need the notice to buy the fresh ingredients from the market), but in spite of that, Mohammad saw our situation and offered to make us a simple meal vegetarian tagine (similar to Shakshuka) that was perfect (and didn’t even charge us for it). Mohammad also had great tips and advice for getting around in Fes and the medina (what was safe, where to eat) and since we were two women traveling alone it was greatly appreciated. It is also a great location, 1/2 block from the “main street” of the medina” and we always felt extremely safe, even alone at night. If you’re looking for a genuine Moroccan experience and want to meet some great people in the process, this is the place. Highly recommend.Michele - Wisconsin, USA
The riad is simply beautiful, and its location is superb – its just a few steps to one of the main streets of the medina and a short walk to one of the most beautiful views of the city. Everyone was very kind and provided great tips for travelers to Fes on what to see and do. Simply a great place to stay in Fes.Joseph - Pennsylvania, USA
Highly highly reccomend! Right from the booking experience where i made a mistake in payment and the owner Jerome Was super accommodating in adjusting my fare to the amazing caretaker Mohammed. As a single woman traveler everyone has warned me to be safe in fes, owing to induce ya, however Mohammed showed me the inner ways to the Médina, offered tajine upon arrivals, and when I expressed an interest in couscous he made it available for dinner.my stay at Riad Layalina fes was the epitome of Moroccan hospitality where they invite us into their home and hearts with all the warmth.Zahida - Singapore
Very nice riad, good breakfast and the roof deck was a nice place to sit and look out at the city.Joe - Los Angeles, USA
We had an amazing stay here! Upon arrival, we were presented with mint tea and freshly chopped fruit. We loved having access to the terrace and the roof – the view is incredible. Breakfast was huge and delicious, and the shower was particularly great (excellent heat and water pressure!) Very convenient location as well. Our hosts were kind and accommodating and let us hang around the terrace after checkout since we weren’t able to check into our next place yet.Daphne - New-York, USA
Stunning riad with such sweet and helpful hosts. Delicious breakfast that was included in our stay. Super close to the Medina. The architecture was by far the best out of the 3 riads we stayed at in Marocco. The hosts really went the extra mile for us…Adrien - Los Angeles, USA
It’s a 2min walk from the Médina , beautifully decorated, and the breakfast was exceptional, it blew the others out of the park! Also, out of the 4cities we stayed, the staff was the most helpful and kind. They gave a map upon arrival and a card to the place in case we got lost. Being so tired from all the adventures we experienced in Morocco, I’m so grateful our last night on our honeymoon was here.Meagan - Long Beach, USA
I enjoyed my stay at Riad Layalina! The riad is beautifully decorated with traditional Moroccan tile, intricate wood carvings, and other design touches that create a relaxing and charming atmosphere. The location is perfect for exploring the medina and is very close to the Blue Gate. My room was clean and well appointed. Extra stars for strong wifi, hot showers, and good breakfast. I am particularly thankful for the wonderful staff who make visitors feel at home. Thank you Jerome, Mohammed, Bilal and Amina for a lovely stay!Darlene - St-Thomas, USA
While we were only in Fes for a short period of time the riad was welcoming and location was perfect. It was outside of the Médina but easy walking to get there from one parking lot. The staff was super nice and welcoming and we enjoyed the Berber omelet when we arrived. It was a nice touch! Overall lovely riad and would recommend to all.Daryl - Atlanta, USA
We staid two nights in Layalina, and it was the best Riad experience in Morocco. The location is very good and close to Medina. Rooms are very clean and spacious. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. In particular, Bilal was amazingly there for whatever we needed. We definitely go back to Layalina again if we plan to visit Fes.Mohajer - Berkley, USA
Great welcoming, My wife and I loved the riad style, it’s located in the middle of old city, easy to find, IT HAS A PRIVATE PARKING one of the few places which has free parking, the traditional breakfast was outstanding.Abdul - Mecca, Saudi Arabia
When we arrived Jerome presented us with an excellent vegetable tajine and a bowl of fruit. We were helped to our room which was beautiful and clean. We had great help and tips about getting around the medina and where to eat. When it came time to check out Jerome allowed us to store our bags so that we could explore more of the medina. Transportation was also arranged to and from the bus station for us. An excellent stay overall.Ryan - Tucson, USA
This is a beautiful hotel with great food inside the Medina in Fes, Morocco. There is a lovely rooftop terrace bar. They serve a beautiful breakfast around a pretty reflecting pool. There are some traditional rooms and some modern rooms. The rooms are very nicely decorated. The restaurant has very good food. I would highly recommend this hotel.Caryn _ Newton, USA
Riad Layalina is a wonderful place to stay and we experienced lovely hospitality from everyone. They organised our transport to the Riad from the train station. Great location just by the Medina, and a short 15 minute walk to the blue door. The breakfast is delicious too! Thank you Riad Layalina.Graziella - London, UK
I absolutely loved my stay at Jerome’s. The Riad is located 2 minutes walk from the Medina entrance and next to a taxi parking lot which makes it easily accessible yet close enough for one to get into the medina. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was scrumptious. Totally worth it.Milly - Glenn Dale, USA
Wonderful place to stay and lovely hospitality from everyone. Great location too just by the Medina. The breakfast is delicious too!Laura - London, UK
Beautiful place to stay easy to get to the Médina and nice to come back and relax, great reception & the staff, breakfast was amazing.Karim - Tiburon, USA
Had a great time staying at this riad. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with all our requests, food, directions, tours, shopping – you name it! The space was clean, comfortable and really had the Moroccan charm we were hoping for. It’s only steps away from the medina near the car park which made it really easy to find. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the ladies make everything fresh as soon as you’re seated. This was by far the best place we stayed at in Morocco. I would definitely stay here again!Monica - Wellington, New Zeland
Fantastic location for visiting Fes Medina. We had a vehicle, so parking was a bonus. We had dinner & it was incredible. A really beautiful zen spot outside Medina.Gaelle - St. John, Canada
We really enjoyed our stay at the Riad. The locations is great and the management is extremely helpful and friendly. The building itself is gorgeous with a great roof top patio. Taxi can drive here to drop you off but still in the Medina.Nancy - Calgary, Canada
Recently stayed at the Riad Layalina in Fez and it exceeded our expectations. We arrived late in the evening and were immediately greeted by hotel personnel that brought up our luggage to the Riad. Very well appointed, clean, with great views of the city from the 4th floor terrace. Breakfast was outstanding and included delicious fresh baked breads, juices, and coffee. Our only regret is that we only were able to stay one night.Marty - Berkeley, USA
The rooms are lovely and distinctive; the food is marvelous; and the service outstanding. We truly were made to feel like family during our stay. The staff handled our group graciously and with great humor and kindness. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Fes.Jeff - Baltimore, USA
The host was very nice. He was delighted to mark all the tourist spots in Fes on a map for us.Alex & Alice - Shangaï, Chine
We Need More Stars!!!
There are not enough stars to even come close to how wonderful our stay was with Riad Layalina. We booked the entire property for a yoga and cultural retreat and from the moment we walked through the front door, we were at HOME. As a tour leader, I have never witnessed such patience and loving generosity from a staff before. Everything was tended to and all we needed to do was ask, and all other wishes were granted.
The owner Jerome helped us book:
– our own cook staff for the week
– guides for 2 city tours
– a cooking class in the riad with spice market tour
– a driver and transportation for 17 people for airport pick up and drop off
– a driver for 17 for Volubilis & Meknes tour
– guitar players (which were out of this world!)
– a belly dancer and musician
Jerome was beyond helpful. His riad is safe and well cared for. The terrace is perfect for meals. The courtyard is beautiful and serene. The rooftop, one of the highest in the area overlooking the entirety of Fes, was perfect for sunrise yoga and meditation. We only hold love in our hearts for Riad Layalina.
About the staff… We are a group of world travelers and we all agreed that Muhamed, Bilal and the kitchen crew were the BEST we have ever had the pleasure of getting to know. I personally burst into tears as I hugged Muhamed, our new brother, as our group left. They shared life with us that week and we learned from them. Inshallah, we will return to Riad Layalina and to our new home and friends.
Just a word for anyone hesitating….As Americans, some in the group were a little timid due to the climate of our media these days. Fes is safe. The people that work there still live there. They take pride in their city and its history. As a group of mostly women, we had zero worries about fanning out into the markets in small groups. Sure, like any city, be smart, but Fes is a gem on this planet and its people are wonderful. Everywhere you go you here, “Salam”…peace. And they mean it. Salam.Caroline - Crownsville, USA
We had a very pleasant stay as the Riad Layalina. We were travelling with our own Landrover and the Riad offers a very safe gated private parking. Jèrôme’s service was excellent. On arrival we were welcomed with tea and fruit salad and received a tour of the premise and a map of the town. We had a beautiful room with en-suite bathroom. Very roomy and comfortable. Excellent breakfast served in the impressive courtyard.
We can only recommend this lovely Riad for your next stay in Fes.Christoph - Regensburg, Germany
I am sorry to say that we did not have dinner at the Riad which in hindsight we should have done, as alternatives in the Medina are not impressive. Next time, for sure.
Just off the main shopping street in Fes, but very quiet, and oh so relaxing. From the start, treated as long awaited guests. All rooms overlook the central court, which is very lovely, and an excellent place to enjoy an hour of reading, quiet contemplation, and sipping mint tea.Nicholas - Seattle, USA
We stayed at this riad in Fes for a couple of nights and were immediately welcomed by very kind staff who made sure our stay was impeccable. We were immediately offered a tasty “snack”, so generous it felt like a full meal, So good! The riad itself is quite beautiful and at walking distance from the Medina, and the rooms are nice and cozy. Private car parking was also useful, as we were driving around Morocco in a rental car. Highly recommended.Riccardo - Vancouver, Canada
Our traveling group of four enjoyed our visit to Riad Layalina. We were especially happy with the food. Our welcoming meal was very nice, and the breakfasts were wonderful. The staff was attentive and helpful. The location is perfect for visiting the Medina.John - Cumberland, USA
What a treat this was! From the moment we arrived until we left we were treated as family! The Riad is absolutely stunning and the staff was so helpful! The location is perfect – right across from the Medina and the views were beautiful! The food that was prepared was cooked with love and fresh ingredients! We couldn’t have asked for anything better. Thank you so much for making our stay a dream come true!Jessica - Hurley, USA
From the moment we stepped through the front door, we knew we had found somewhere incredibly special. Riad Layalina feels like a palace beautiful enough for royalty yet comfortable enough to feel like a home away from home. With the entrance to the Medina right across the street, the sweeping views of the city, the rooftop morning yoga, this trip was a dream come true because of this Riad.
Mohammed, Bilal, Amina and team welcomed us like family and made this experience more magical than I could have imagined.
Thank you for everything my dear sweet extended family!! You mean the world to us and I can’t wait to see you again.Emilia - Reston, USA
They arranged smooth transportation to and from the airport and train station as well as for side trips. Breakfasts were very nice and we chose to eat on the outside patio which was lovely. One in our group fell ill and the staff was very caring and went to the pharmacy for us. Do be aware there are steep stairs. Would recommend.Rosemary - Seattle, USA
The riad is in a great location close to the Blue Gate. It is a lovely example of the traditional architecture, with a pool (although the pool wasn’t full when we visited). The staff are exemplary and the breakfast was overwhelmingly generous. On a day trip to Chefchaouen (highly recommended) a small takeaway breakfast is provided. Jerome was very helpful. We always felt safe walking to and from the riad, even at night.Katandra - Brisbane, Astralia
Great location close to Médina and other points of interest. Jerome and his team handle all the details from booking tours, airport transfer, and the food is authentic and delicious.Grant - Portland, USA
What a beautiful and hospitable welcome to Fes! Though we only got one night at Riad Layalina, walking through the door, to the beautiful old house, with its quiet, comfortable garden was great. Jerome and his team were fantastic, and the breakfast in the morning, before or trip to the Sahara was a tasty treat, the best we had, exemplary of the hospitality we’d find throughout the country.Mark & Allysha - Gatineau, Canada
Was a great time spent at Riad Layalina. The staff was excellent, thanks again for everything Mohammad and Bilal! Room was very clean and bed super comfortable. I almost forgot the food they served was excellent, definitely the best I had at any Riad. Top recommendation, would stay here again!!!Ryan - New York, USA
We only spent one night in Fes at Riad Layalina before catching our flight back to Spain, but it was the perfect place to end our time in Morocco! The staff at the Riad were so welcoming, preparing us a lovely dinner and fresh mint tea for free upon our arrival (which saved us so much time searching for a restaurant in the area). The breakfast the following morning was delicious as well. The staff also helped arrange our transportation to the airport which was very helpful.
The Riad is gorgeous and although we didn’t have a chance to do much sightseeing, it appeared to be very centrally located to the main attractions and old city/medina in Fes. We would definitely recommend Riad Layalina and would happily stay there again – hopefully for longer – on our next trip to Fes.Kavitha - Seattle, USA
Location is great, it was inside the medina but very close to the north gate, and has its own parking lot, convenient for self-driving travelers.Houliang - New York, USA
The front door facing alley to medina is a little hard to find, but we gets used to it after the first time. the room has great view, breakfast is great too.
Great view from the riad, authentic place. Close to the medina but quiet.Hyona - Yokohama, Japan
The riad is located on the edge of the medina. Initially I was disappointed that a short walk through the car park was necessary to reach one of the main streets in the medina, but realised this was a small price to pay for very easy access via the riad’s rear door to load and unload bags (walking these down narrow medina streets is no fun). And the location around a third of the way down from the Blue Gate is perfect.Simon - Valencia, Spain
We took the smallest room with two separate beds. It was, however, extremely comfortable with separate single four-posters on separate sides of the room. In contrast, the bathroom was huge with constant hot water and lots of space.
The French owner is in residence one week in five and was charming and very informative. His staff can clearly manage things in hist absence and were totally professional and friendly.
The layout is unusual in that the courtyard is open to one side which makes the atmosphere much airier and allows for a small swimming pool not set dead centre as most are. So it’s usable without feeling a little public.
The include breakfast is massive (pancakes, croissants, bread, omelette, with fruit or yoghurt or olives & tomatoes. Accompanied by thermos flasks of coffee and milk plus jams and honey, it’s everything you would want.
In closing, the riad has fibre internet access which is fast and reliable.
I thoroughly recommend staying here.
Just back from a ten day visit to Morocco, three nights of which were spent here at the Riad Layalina. We arrived there after a fairly arduous four day drive and stay in the Sahara, and it was a joy to be greeted with mint tea (or course), fresh fruit, bread and a complimentary, delicious tagine. Our rooms were huge, sparkling clean and very glamourous- a great guide was recommended and it was a bonus that the Riad was only minutes from the Blue Gate which meant we very quickly could find our way around and make the most of our time.Jenny - London, UK
We spent three nights at the Riad Layalina Fes and could not have been more pleased. The pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of the place. The location is great — right on the edge of the Medina. The breakfasts were huge and excellent. They even served us an impromptu dinner when we arrived late the first night.
They found us a great guide to Fes, and were hospitable throughout our visit.Susan - San Francisco, USA
We spent two days in the Riad. The atmosphere is unique, just out of the chaos of the Medina you can find the peace of the beautiful building, and the friendliness of Jerome and the rest of the staff. Rooms are spacious and clean, the food is delicious, and the view from the terrace makes the trip worthwhile. Will definitely come back!Pietro - London, UK
Authentic and comfortable Riad in the Médina but easily accessed. Nice views from the rooftop terraces. Delicious breakfast and the dinner is worth ordering. Jerome and his team could not be more helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend!James - New York, USA
This place was hands down the best Riad we stayed in in Morocco (out of 4 places). The orientation meal and mint tea when we arrived was delicious and we felt very comfortable with the map, suggestions, and the friendliness of the staff helping us. They were quick to help us with questions, book tours/taxi, bring us daily breakfast or dinner/beverages if we ordered it (which was incredible as well), and always had a smile and asked how we were doing. This small gesture went a long way. The location is perfect and we did not get lost trying to find the Médina or back to our place. The room was cleaned each day, they did laundry at an extra fee, and the place was clean. I can’t recommend this place enough.Laura - Seattle, USA
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover is the best word of advise I can give. Homes in Fez are not much from the outside but once inside the beauty is delightful. This Riad is very comfortable, includes a sun deck for enjoying the view of the Medina plus a small pool for cooling off after a hot day sightseeing.
The staff is very accommodating and professional and are willing to go the extra mile to make your stay perfect. If you need something such as change or a bus ticket, they will volunteer to go to get it.
Breakfast and a welcome snack are included. Delicious abundance beautifully prepared and served.
No hesitation about recommending this Riad in Fez.Debbie - Casablanca, Morocco
Riad Layalina is a beautiful place with a very short, easy walk to the medina. It was easy to get to. The rooms are spacious and welcoming. There were steep steps to reach our third floor suite, but they were easy to navigate. Daily breakfast was nice and relaxed, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return here if we are lucky enough to come back to Fes.Charles - San Francisco, USA
This Riad is simply stunning with incredible hospitality and in a fabulous location in the Medina. Beautiful rooftop with an epic view of Fes. I can’t recommend this place enough.Jenna - Philadelphia, USA
Its recomended riad. The perfect riad for our time in Fes. They welcomed us with a beautiful welcome meal and the breakfasts were delicious and very generous. I wish we got to stay another night! Mohammed was so helpful in guiding us with a map to the short walking distance to the places of interest.Oliver - London, UK
Our stay with Jerome was amazing. The place is well located, super clean, very stylish and most of all, the staff was amazing with us. Would definitely stay more days or come back again.Ana - Mexico
Our stay at Jerome’s place was wonderful. The Riad is beautiful and super clean. Jerome’s friend helped us checking in during al-eid festival and had a welcome meal and drinks for us ready which was well appreciated after a long trip to Fes. Would definitely recommend staying here if you make it to Fes!Sarah - Berlin, Germany
Beautiful Riad, great location.Tanya - Le Cap, South Africa
I’m so fortunate to have found this place a night prior to arriving to Fez. My little sister has a physical limitation due to her ankle surgery so we asked for accommodations on the ground floor. The hotel staff immediately responded to my request and updated our booking. Due to extenuating circumstances with our car rental we arrived very late. We were so upset from the loss of the whole day that when we arrived to Hotel Riad, we were ready to turn in and go to sleep. Mohammed, the gentleman in charge of the hotel greeted us and offered mint tea and a large water bottle. Here’s the part that made us quietly weep: he said “all the women cooks went home for the night but they prepared a hot plate for you guys…”Evelyn - Compton, USA
When he brought out the food… it felt like a gift from heaven. We hadn’t ate anything all day and I promise you that it was the best meal we had in three/four days. Fruit bowls, fresh bread, and a gorgeous tomato base sauce smothered in egg and cheese. This is when I knew why this hotel holds such high reviews. When we settle in to our room… wow! Spectacular. We felt like it was a luxury suite. In the morning, we were served a precious continental breakfast. Mohammed was so helpful in guiding us with a map to the short walking distance to the places of interest. On top of that, they held our luggage and our car rental until our return. Beautiful experience. We will definitely come back and stay longer. One night in Hotel Riad Layalina does not suffice!
So kind and welcoming. When we got to fez our driver did not want to drive us to the riad, but then the guy (that I sadly can’t remember the name of) came to where we where an picked us up. Very usefull information about fes, and possibility to use the facilities after check out.Pernille - Odense, Denmark
Really nice riad on the edge of the medina. The room is a lot nicer than the pictures make it appear and the staff, particularly Mohammed, is wonderful! Highly recommend.Andrew - Oakland, USA
The Place was very easy to find with the directions they gave us. Once there, the Riad is beautiful and the room very clean and comfortable. It also has air conditioner which was a major plus for us! The location was excellent as well and beautiful Terrace and delicious breakfast!Rocio - Miami, USA
As two women travellers, we felt safe and comforted coming home here after a busy day in the Medina. The space was perfect and we enjoyed reading our books with a bowl of fruit in the common areas. From the terrace, the view of the Medina was spectacular. The breakfasts were amazing as well and staff were always present if you needed something. Could not recommend this place enough!Leslie - Vancouver, Canada
The perfect riad for our time in Fes. They welcomed us with a beautiful welcome meal and the breakfasts were delicious and very generous. The pool and bedrooms were perfectly clean. I wish we got to stay another night!Lucy - Melbourne, Australia
Riad Layalina Fez is a wonderful riad in a great location with friendly staff and a delicious complimentary breakfast. Nice pool in the courtyard which provided a welcome escape from the Moroccan Summer sun. We’d highly recommend for anyone visiting this ancient city.Nicole - Los Angeles, USA
Our favorite Riad eXperience in our entire road trip in Morocco. Outstanding hospitality and lovely lovely place!Nicole - New-York, USA
We stayed here for one night and were very pleasantly surprised. After a stressful stay in another riad in the middle of the medina seven years ago we were looking for a place which would guarantee less hassle – and that’s exactly what we found at Riad Layalina. We chose this accommodation specifically because of its private parking, an invaluable asset which allowed for getting in and out very easy.
While travelling towards Fes in our rental car, we tried to make a reservation for the last available room via TripAdvisor, but the site somehow did not manage to book with the online discount which was advertised. So we tried our luck, just showed up without any reservation and asked. The friendly manager Bilal had a quick phone call with the owner and confirmed that we could stay for the advertised price. We were then given the full welcome treatment which others already described in detail: a bottle of cool water, a delicious fruit salad and a mint tea, all of this served in their breathtakingly beautiful courtyard. While we were indulging in these treats our room was prepared and our luggage was taken care of.
The room itself was not the biggest, yet very cozy and spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed, a safe and a good working a/c. The only small downside was that the bathroom was not en suite but on the other side of the staircase. It had no windows and felt a little bit ‘cave-like’, especially with high humidity after showering. The wifi in our room had a terrific speed (faster than at home) while the bathroom came without proper signal.
Due to the riad being fully booked it could get somewhat noisy at times, but not to the extent that it would have tarnished our stay. It’s just what you should expect when staying in an older building in riad style. Keep in mind that these accommodations were once meant to be family homes rather than hotels.
On the rooftop terrace with its sweeping views over the medina and the surrounding hills we got a good map and a brief introduction to Fes by Bilal. This was very appreciated, although not much had changed since our last visit in 2012. But it’s always reassuring to get some advice and useful hints by locals.
We had a fantastic afternoon roaming the medina, came back to see the sunset from the rooftop and then went off to enjoy the medina again, this time with the very special evening atmosphere and even a free concert at the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music. The location of the riad, not far from the Blue Gate, guaranteed easy accessibility of the medina and souk.
The next morning, after a good night’s sleep, Bilal and his colleague served an excellent breakfast in the picturesque courtyard setting. After we had settled our bill (which was organized by Bilal in the most correct way) the staff brought the luggage to our car and waved us goodbye. As hard as it was to leave this beautiful and accommodating place after just one night, it’s good to know that we have found the perfect spot to come back to whenever Fes is on our travel list again.Anne - Schagen, Netherlands
The convenience (especially if you bring your own vehicle) is phenomenal. Jerome met us when we arrived and was very cordial. The room (and entire building) is beautiful, very photo-worthy. The bathroom is technically private, but it is across the stairwell from your room (so leave the door shut). Jerome’s employees did a great job of helping us navigate the medina, and even gave us a number to call if we got lost. Breakfast was FANTASTIC, as well. We will stay here again, no doubt!David - College Station, USA
Gorgeous Riad right on the edge of the Médina with perfect views of the city. Easy walking distance to everything and also easy parking for those coming in car. The free parking is attached to the Riad and it is gated! The rooms are cool with air conditioners. Water pressure was great and the hot water was much appreciated! They helped orient us to the city and what there was to do with a map for us to keep. I would highly recommend this AirBNB!Ruthy - San Antonio, USA
The beautiful Moroccan details throughout and the incredible attentive staff (and amazing food) were above and beyond our expectations. It is in a great location with a beautiful view of the city from the terrace and plenty of tips and advice from the staff about how to make the most of your stay. We definitely recommend it, and we wish we had more time there!!Julia - Chicago, USA
A beautiful Riad right next to the old medina in fez. The staff is awesome!! They picked us up from the airport in a private car and also organized a ride to get us to our next destination. Breakfast is delicious and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner one night as well. We would definitely recommend this Riad to anyone staying in fez :).Claire - New-York, USA
This riad is such a wonderful place to stay in Fez, highly recommend it! The hosts took care of us as if we were family!Masha - Alameda, USA
We had a wonderful stay at Riad Layalina. The staff was amazing and was incredibly helpful in booking transfers, hiring a local tour guide, and was a vital piece in helping us both deal with our lost luggage and then retrieve it from the airport 3 days later.
Our room was a bit dark, but cozy, quiet and peaceful. And clean! The atrium is beautiful. I think we ate at the riad every night because we loved the tagine and the atmosphere so much. It felt like coming home. It was a little chilly in April so we didn’t spend much time up there, but the rooftop has a great view.
And finally … the location is perfect. This was our first stop in Morocco so it was an adjustment navigating the Medina but Riad Layalina made it so easy to find our way home (even in the dark!) because the location is near enough of a landmark so you will be able to find your way – and your airport transfer or taxi can drive straight to the door! No hauling luggage through the souks here 🙂Emily - Tiburon, USA
A charming Riad in an excellent location with very sympathetic staff. Breakfast was excellent. And the pool was perfect for a refreshing break after walking through the Medina. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Chris - Montreal, Canada
We traveled in Morocco for a week and even though we didn’t stay long in Fez, Riad Layalina was the nicest accommodation during our visit to Northern Africa. The Riad’s common area is down right beautiful and the location is perfect; it is right around the corner from a gate to the Médina. Sunrise from the roof is gorgeous. The service was also terrific and the fruit salad with apples, kiwi, banana, and pears upon our welcome was tasty and refreshing. I really do not see any reason to stay anywhere else in Fez, should I return.Paul - Cincinnati, USA
If you go to Fes this Riad is where you need to go. The ubication is really great, the food so tasty and the staff is very kind people.Manuel Enrique - Mexico
The riad is super cool and has everything you need. It has a big rooftop terrace, free personal parking, a cool interior and good location. The staff is very nice and has good information about the city. Our room was also clean.Dennis - Dormagen, Germany
Really nice riad in the Fès Médina. Really cool inside, great balcony with a view, rooms were well provided, breakfast was fantastic. Also appreciated that the host took the time to give me a map of the Fès medina and point a few things out because it helped me get a handle on it.Michael - Bristol, USA
My brother and i had hospitable time in Riad Layalina. It was overall, close to the center of the médina action, which meant lots of shopping, and sight seeing within a historical city. our hosts were pleasant, accessible, and courteous. we enjoyed our time here very much, thank you!Edith - New-York, USA
I stayed in the Junior suite and it was absolutely exquisite. From the moment I arrived, I was treated wonderfully. I was greeted with mint tea, fruit, and snacks. I was given great advice on sites to check out, directions to meet my friends, and the host Jérôme even so kindly asked one of my guides if he could return a little later as I was exhausted from traveling the previous day. Jérôme, his wife, and Bilal were wonderful. The property is spotlessly clean, the WiFi works well, and the accommodations were beautiful and luxurious. The location is premium in the Old Medina, close to everything! On my next return to Fes, I will absolutely stay here again, and would recommend anyone else to do so as well.Anita - Las Vegas, USA
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful ryad mere minutes from the hustle and bustle of the medina. Breakfast was incredible, Jerome was also amazing in arranging transport to the airport at 3am and sending us off with a packed breakfast too. Hospitality really was second to none. The roof terrace has great views and the whole feel of the place is calming, an oasis just minutes from the craziness of the medina. The pool is an added bonus, though a little chilly still in May!!James - London, UK
A gorgeous riad on a quiet street one block from the craziness of the Médina (and a 15 minute walk to the view point overlooking the Médina). The owner did a fantastic job of restoring this old residence, including adding a swimming pool. Very attentive staff, great breakfast, a beautiful rooftop terrace, free parking. Highly recommended.Gordon - Toronto, Canada
Moroccan-American Writer Paul Boules wrote about the energy and bustle of Morocco’s streets and zouks. But the Moroccan home, he said, is the peaceful antidote – it is like you are in your own alcazar (palace). Riad Layalina is a perfect demonstration of this. Just steps from the Medina, you will walk into this peaceful palace in which the staff welcomes you, takes care of you, and provides you with a breakfast full of both healthy and decadent foods. Take your pick, there is plenty. The care with which this building has been restored is stunning – look at the doors to the rooms, the furniture, the terrace. All of the staff was amazing but we got to know Bilal the best and he was tremendously helpful. Wonderful place.Luis - Tempe, USA
We had a great time at the riad in Fes.Theresa - Köln, Germany
We especially loved the welcome mint tea and fruits.
The rooms are really pretty and comfortable.
If you wanna have a great time in Fes you should stay at Layalina.
Beautiful and peaceful oasis with wonderful serviceCamilla - Bristol, UK
Fantastic location just a few minutes of walking distance from the Blue Gate.
Extremely welcoming and helpful staff. Very relaxing experience overall.
We booked a room for a very cheap price too.
Perfect place and very nice host!Fan - Bangkok, Thailand
Riad Layalina is in a fantastic location on the edge of the medina but very close to the main street that winds its way down past spice shops, restaurants and shops selling all sorts of things, some for tourists but most for locals.Scott - London, UK
The Riad is very traditional with amazing architecture and decoration. it also has a pool to cool off in. they serve a very nice breakfast we also had dinner one evening which was fantastic. the people in the Riad are very knowledgeable about Fez and the surroundings, they will arrange anything you need from local guides to a driver and a car for the day. The roof terrace offers amazing views across the medina and surrounding hills.
night time is a little bit noisy but this should be expected. The sound of the Mosques floating through the Medina is very enchanting and adds to the atmosphere.
Riad Layalina is a very peaceful escape from the Medina and also very cool.
The service provided was excellent, very attentive but not imposing. our lift was waiting for us at the airport and we were soon greeted at the Riad by Bilal and his colleague who carried our bags up the steep staircase to our room. we were then shown around the Riad and given a map of the medina which Bilal kindly explained to us and marked off some sights to see and places to eat.
Fez is an amazing city so worth seeing also the surrounding towns and villages are excellent trips out by car.
This is the second time I have stayed at Riad Layalina and if there is availability, it will be the only place I will stay whenever I am there. The property is well maintained and Mohammed (spelling?) and the rest of the staff are extremely gracious, professional, caring, and accommodating. The property is right outside of the Medina. It is extremely clean. The communication before I stepped foot on the property was excellent. EVERY moment of my stay here (both times) has made this the only place I will call home when I go back to magical Fes.Ernest - Los Angeles, USA
We spent 6 relaxing nights in this this beautifully restored Riad at the edge of the Fes Medina. Our three room suite had views of the distant medieval city walls and ruined fortress on one side and the medina rooftops and the Riad’s lovely interior tiled courtyard with small pool on the other side. The bathroom was large and modern, the lounge was spacious and had large full-length doors looking down 2 stories into the inner courtyard, and the bedroom was comfortable and well-airconditioned. The restoration has not over-modernized the authentic charm of the building, which we prefer. The 2 flights of stairs were well worth the view, but if you prefer there are smaller rooms on the first and second floors. The generous and delicious breakfasts were served in the courtyard. We opted to eat dinner in the courtyard each night. You could make your request of a chicken, beef, lamb, or vegetable tagine which was preceded by a different variety of scrumptiously prepared Moroccan vegetables and salad. Desserts and fruit were offered if you could make room. Very reasonably priced.Susan - Los Angeles, USA
However wonderful the above sounds, it was the the staff’s kindness, warmth, and eagerness to individually accommodate the needs of the guests that truly made this hotel unique. We have stayed at small boutique hotels all over the world and would place Mohammed and his colleague Billal at the top of the list. They helped us arrange tours of the medina and city walls(if Mr. Ahmed is available you will gain insight into the history, culture, and current complexity of modern Morocco). We highly recommend taking Mohammed’s Moroccan cooking class. Although we had already spent many hours taking in the marketplace, it was a treat to watch Mohammed interacting with his friends/merchants as we shopped for the ingredients for the tagines we learned to cook. Sharing the experience of meal preparation with the two lovely hotel chefs (with Mohammed translating)was educational and fun.
We opted for really getting to know Fes and using it as our base for excursions to Volubilis and Meknes. Being able to return to the Layalina each night made for a relaxed, low stress vacation experience.
This is a beautiful riad right on the edge of the Médina, and it’s a great location for setting off on foot to explore. The staff is very helpful and thoughtful, the breakfasts are huge and tasty, and the view from the rooftop terrace is spectacular. They even have a private lot if you need to park a car, very handy feature. The space is cozy and beautiful and romantic, and we loved staying there. Recommend it highly!John - Kansas City, USA
I booked with Jerome for 2 nights on a family trip of 4 couples. Jerome always answers messages very quickly. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it at the last minute but the staff at the riad were wonderful and looked after them impeccably. They felt very well taken care of in a warm and welcoming atmosphere with lovely people. The riad was beautiful, hugely spacious, traditional in decor and has amazing views from the roof. It was an even shorter walk from the centre than anticipated and I am told the breakfasts were best that were had on the trip and hugely generous. The only thing that might be improved on is that the lighting in some of the rooms was just a little dark. Otherwise this is a top notch riad.Sara - London, UK
This is a really good place to stay if you are in Fes. The location is very convenient to explore the medina and also reachable by car so that you don’t have to drag your luggage through hectic medina. The riad itself is very beautiful and the staff are all helpful to accommodate all your request. Really recommended!Pete - Bangkok, Thailand
Had a fabulous 2 night stay at Riad Layalina. Very close to the Medina and other main tourist sights. Room itself was lovely, very traditional and the view from the rooftop terrace is beautiful. The service was great, and nothing was too much trouble, highly recommend.Karien - Brisbane, Australia
From the moment we arrived, Mohamed made us so welcome at Jerome’s place. Lovely mint tea and fresh fruit bowls, after which he took us to the terrace and orientated us with landmarks and recommended highlights! The Riad is truly beautiful, with a lovely courtyard and plunge pool. The Suite was perfect. One of the best things about the Riad is the location – close to the Blue gate and the Medina and with views over the city. And then there was breakfast – the best we have had in Morocco.Juliette - Le Cap, South Africa
Very easy to get to, extremely close to the Médina, fantastic parking. Very good breakfast.Hannah - Melbourne, Australia
Welcome tea and fruit salad which is made my day, very helpful and informative Manager. I just said that only one night is not enough ! closed to the Sour and cafe everywhere. spectacular view at the roof top, dont miss it.Devitt - Hong Kong, China
We stayed four nights in this wonderfully authentic riad. We booked directly with the riad which was easy to do; Jerome and his team were very helpful in arranging a transfer from the airport, and subsequently a car to take us to the border at Beni Ansar. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and very well looked after by the team.Jane - Tynemouth, UK
Our room was large and had a mezzanine floor which was perfect for our twelve year old daughter. There is a beautiful courtyard where breakfast is served, and a roof terrace with terrific views for sunbathing or reading. The riad is conveniently situated about a one minute walk from the souq, and it is easy to find your way there and back. The wifi was good and my husband was able to catch up with some essential work whilst staying here.
The breakfasts were amazing! Each day a slightly different and generous spread of fruit, breads, omelette, pancakes and so on. We also dined at the riad one evening and had the most delicious cous cous, far superior to what we are used to at home; it was a feast!
I would return here without hesitation.
After reviewing a lot of positive comments on this Riad on Tripadvisor, we decided to book 3 nights at Riad Layalina Fez. The Riad itself exceeded our expectation. Beautiful decorative works and a lovely courtyard with a small pool. We were assigned a junior suite on the top floor. The room is huge with iron wrought stairway leading to a small mezzanine. Lighting is a little bit dim but that is perhaps the charm of a historic building. One drawback is the bathroom, small shower area and slow drainage, which may be the limitation of a historic building.
We were also pleased that they provided a safe private car park, which is rare in accommodation near the medina. This is a great plus if you are driving a rental car.
For breakfast, we had a sumptuous meal with traditional pastries and dips in the lovely courtyard. The dips were held in tiny colourful tagines (see picture). We found the tagines so cute that we decided to buy a dozen of small ones in the souk as souvenirs.
Of course, there are things that can improve, such as sound proof. The birds could get noisy in early morning, a disturbance to a good sleep. One way to get around is to go to bed early 🙂
All in all, we are very satisfied with the Riad and will definitely choose it again if we visit Fes again.Yat - Hong Kong, China
We had a wonderful few days staying at Riad Layalina in Fez. The large 2-bedroom suite was perfect for our family of four. The riad is beautiful and very well cared for by its lovely and attentive hosts. We really enjoyed the copious breakfasts in the shaded courtyard and afternoons on the sunny roof terrace. The riad is also conveniently located just steps from the Talaa Kebira, making it a great base from which to discover the Fez medina.Julie - London, UK
We had a most lovely stay at Riad Layalina. Meal, room, terraces and staff were wonderful. We ordered an evening meal when checking in and were happily surprised by the vegetable tagine. There we easily arranged an early taxi to airport. We could not have asked for more.Christine - Portland, USA
This was one of our favourite places we stayed in our entire trip. A stunningly beautiful Riad, amazing hospitality (we got a free welcome “snack” – basically a meal! when we arrived with mint tea), the breakfast (included) and supper meal you can purchase were delicious, and perfectly located if you are driving a car – right off the main road, with a secure private parking area, steps from the Medina – would stay here again in a heartbeat if we ever come back (we hope we do!!)Katriena - Halifax, Canada
Beautiful riad in a perfect location for hiking up the hill for an amazing city view and diving into the medina’s shopping. Breakfast spread was lovely and the dinner was one of the best of my trip. Also the staff was incredible helpful with parking (in the middle of a rain and hail storm!) and setting up airport transfers.Laura - Chicago, USA
We absolutely loved our stay with Jerome. The riad is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the hospitality is unmatched. Jerome and the riad staff gave great recommendations about what to see in Fes, and they were helpful with every little request. They even went out and bought our train tickets to Marrakech for us, which saved a lot of anxiety for our day of travel. The dinner was also very tasty! The location of this riad is also perfect: still in the heart of old town and just minutes away from the medina, while having access to the road and a little more peace and quiet. We would absolutely recommend a stay here for anyone coming to Fes!Elle - Rochester, USA
The location was very convenient to the busy part of the Medina without all of the associated noise and hassle. The riad itself was beautiful and comfortable. Our host was more than friendly and helpful, as was all of the staff. We would love to return for a longer visit.Frank - Miami, USA
From the moment we arrived Bilal looked after all our needs. The Riad is gorgeous and the accommodation very comfortable. Breakfast is lovely and the wifi excellent. It’s close to the Medina and all you want to achieve while in Fes. Jerome is a thoughtful host who has created an oasis where you can relax away from the busy Medina. Thank you Bilal for your recommendations and your assistance. Highly recommend.Sheree - Pelican Waters, Australia
I loved everything about this quiet retreat from the buzz of the Medina. The location is the best, only 200 meters from a midpoint access yet, and this is very important, vehicles can drive right up to a second entrance to the riad. It would have been a nightmare to arrive at midnight and attempt the maze of the Medina even with a porter. Jerome also arranged my private airport pickup. Jerome and his staff were tremendously accommodating, including a lovely hot meal ready for me when I arrived past midnight. They called taxis, made reservations at restaurants ( although the breakfasts at the riad are delicious and plentiful) and gave tips on the best Hammam for your money. Oh and my little room was just perfect for one person with windows that fling open to big views out over the city and ramparts.Mary Jane - Rojas de Cuauhtémoc, Mexico
The reviews before mine are spot on in terms of top-notch hospitality. The riad was beautiful and the meals amazing! I chose the location after reading the reviews thoroughly and being convinced that I should stay. I was not prepared to have my expectations blown away. Side note: I managed to get lost while walking from the Blue Gate to the riad. However, it was easy to find the place after a whole day of meandering through the Medina. The parking lot is really a great landmark and would recommend using it to begin with. Thank you Bilal for being a great host!Бенита - Philadelphia, USA
Amazing stay, beautiful riadMichelle - Sacramento, USA
If you’re coming with a car, make sure you don’t use the parking right next to the riad since you have to pay for it – the riad has its own parking and it’s free.Matias - Buenos Aires, Argentina
Looking for a great place with perfect location close to the Medina, a pool where you can cool down and a nice clean room than go here!Anouk - Best, Netherlands
I stayed at this Riad for two nights while in Fes with my husband, and it was a wonderful, comfortable experience. Its location is perfectly situated near, but just outside the chaos of the medina. It’s a small riad with only several groups of travelers, so intimate in nature. When we arrived, we were greeted with mint tea, a lovely bubbling tomato and cheese spread cooked in a tagine pot, bread, and fresh fruit. Everything was extremely tasty and extremely welcome after a long morning of traveling from Casablanca. The last thing we wanted to do was look for food in the Medina on an empty stomach. Our suite was comfortable, spacious, and clean. At the end of our time in Fes, we were making travel arrangements to another city by train, and I was having difficulty navigating the website in French. I asked for assistance, and the staff was attentive and helpful. Since we were leaving early the next morning, a to go breakfast was arranged for us as well as taxi service to the train station. I would say the only inconvenience was having to pay for the stay in cash as they did not have a credit card terminal (so just make sure to plan ahead), but everything else was wonderful! Enjoy!Grace - New York, USA
Hospitality at this beautiful Riad is the highlight our week long travelling adventure around morroco. The Riad is perfectly placed in the Medina with private parking. Rooms are clean and spacious. Would definitely return.Anupa - London, UK
I went with my mother on February to Fes and we stayed at the Riad Layalina. It is very well located at walking distances to the main buildings to visit at the Medina. The place is lovely, very beautiful, but even better than the place is the staff that are very kind and always happy to help. We had a wonderful stay.Gloria - El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain
Very nice riad in the heart of Fes Médina. The staff is very helpful and make you feel very welcomed.Nick - Edison, USA
This riad is perfect. The location is just outside the Medina, so convenient, safe, and central. The riad is beautiful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Jerome responded to my messages right away, and coordinated pick up and drop off for us at the train station. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door and our bags were carried in by Belal. Belal checked us in, while we sat in the sunny courtyard sipping on fresh mint tea, and eating a bowl of seasonal fruit. An amazing breakfast spread is provided every morning, whenever you get up. Belal and the rest of the staff make sure the riad feels better than home while you stay there.Theresa - Roma, Italy
Really beautiful place with really generous breakfast. The host were super helpful and recommended really awesome things to see and do! Would definitely stay here again 🙂Samia - Montreal, Canada
Mohammed and others welcomed us at this riad on our first day in Morocco. It is beautiful and very clean, with lots of winding staircases (which most places in Morocco have but be aware if you have any accessibility needs). The view from the rooftop alone made staying here worth it as we could watch sunrise and sunset while lounging as others took taxis to overlooks to see them. We befriended other travelers here and we’re very grateful for the huge breakfast spreads each morning. We ended up not eating other meals until 3pm or so because we were so satiated. The location is very convenient too, only a 5 minute walk to the blue gate.Mariah - Westfield, USA
Nice place to stay and location is great to access the old medina.Efendi - Singapour
Great location! And Jerome is so nice and fast in feedbacks, staffs are nice and helpful as well! Rooms are clean and spacious, and loved the big breakfast!! 🙂Bora - Shangaï, China
Hospatility – WOW and AMAZING are words that don’t do the staff justice. I can’t even describe how great they were. Absolutely the best experience I’ve ever had at any Airbnb. They were very Pleasant at always accesible for anything we needed. We arrived around 5pm, and they prepared some wonderful tea for us as we settle in. We were provided with a tour of the beautiful Riad and given a map to follow along with the explanation of where everything is located. I won’t waste time looking at any other Airbnb on my return…. this is definitely the place to stay! Location- I don’t see how it can be any better. It’s literally a 1 min walk into the maze of the Medina. When you get lost, all you have to do is ask someone to point you to the parking area, and you will be just fine. I highly recommend you stay away from a Riad inside the Medina, I don’t think you will ever find it. GPS will NOT work ! The later it gets at night, the more intimidating the Medina becomes, and finding your way around will become very complex. So just to repeat the obvious… STAY at THIS RIAD. In addition, it’s a 5 min walk to the bus station left of the Riad, or a 5 min walk up to the right for a beautiful hill top view of the sunset en Fez. Value- you are getting way more for the money then you can imagine. The place looks great! The bed is very comfortable. The roof top offers a great view, and foto ops. The pool looks beautiful, and once again the service provided by the staff is priceless. The bathrooms were very nice! Water was great, no issues with hot water. In fact, you might not want to even get out because it’s so relaxing. WiFi- worked perfectly ! Food- Take the breakfast!!!!!!!!! Absolutely filling! Absolutely delicious ! Worth the few dollars! I will be back!!!!!!!!!!!Juan - New-York, USA
Amazing Riad, staff and location, wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.Simon - New South Wales, Australia
Location – a stones throw from the medina, so convenient. However, still very quiet until the call to prayer which can be heard clearly. The riad – amazing rooftop terrace with fantastic views over the Médina. Rooms were superb value. I was a good temperature but as it gets very cold at night I’d recommend bringing warm clothing to wear in bed if you feel the cold. Lots of extra blankets in the room though. It was extremely clean and plenty of hot water in the shower. Breakfast – is included in the price of your stay, making the value even better. We ate ours outside in the courtyard. The breakfast itself was superb and extremely plentiful. The square Moroccan pancake was particularly nice. Our hosts – extremely friendly. A mixture of English and french was spoken but they were very easy to understand. Check-in was easy once at the riad and we were brought traditional mint tea and bowls of fresh fruit on our arrival, which was a lovely touch. The only slight downfall to our stay was that our pick up taxi driver was late to collect us from the airport and we were stood outside in the cold for a little bit before knowing what was going on. However, I contacted the riad and they were very quick to sort the problem and explain why the driver was late, so it was no bother in the end. All in all I’d highly recommend staying here. The riad feels very authentic and makes for a very comfortable stay. I’d happily return. Thank you Riad Layalina!Lauren - Bromsgrove, UK
I can’t describe how much we enjoyed RIAD LAYALINA. It was just perfect. Beautiful Riad, very very nice and friendly Hosts, Breakfast was amazing, perfectly clean. Will definitely come back to this place!Manuel - Munich, Germany
Jerome’s riad is a great if you want to experience the life of medina but not too crowded as the centre of Médina. It located at the edge of the Médina and you can walk there in 2-3mins. The staffs are super nice and take care of everything that we needed. Water is hot and enough, which help us relax a lot.Andy - Macao, China
This was our favorite place to stay throughout our 10 days in Morocco. The Riad has a beautiful courtyard and the staff is very attentive and always available. The rooms were cozy and clean. The location to the Medina is excellent, as its less than a 5 minute walk to be right in the heart of everything! Would highly recommend.Ryan - Denver, USA
We had a great stay with Jerome, and would definitely recommend this beautiful riad! We arrived later at night than expected and they were very flexible and helpful upon arriving. We were greeted with the traditional mint tea and they also cooked us some food because we hadn’t eaten yet after a long trip. Dinner, as well as breakfast, was very good! I booked the trip very last minute and was very pleased with their quick communication, flexibility, and accommodation. Great value, and we felt right at home. Also a great location if you want to be near the CTM bus station. Thanks again for a great stay!Alice - Medford, USA
From the moment we were greeted at the front door we felt completely at home. We had been driving most of the day and as if staff read our mind we were served a delicious cheese tagene and I am not sure if I had mentioned that my wife was a vegetarian.Andy - London, UK
Our room and bed was very comfy and bright during the daytime. It was cool February nights and the room was toasty. We were even brought beautiful mint tea to have on the rooftop patio which has a glorious view over Fes with snow capped Atlas Mountains in the distance. The Médina was amazing, of course we got lost…part of the adventure(took about 1hr to find our way).
Riad is a perfect location for the blue gate, 100meters. Staff are super accommodating and gracious. There are many places to buy rugs in the Médina and we had a great experience at a place called
“Le souk artisanal de fes”. They can be found on gmaps near the Jewish Synagogue, another wonderful experience-2 rugs and a large pouf later!
Hospitality was excellent and the breakfast every morning was the best we had! Well worth it.Kim - Randburg, South Africa
We arrived late in the evening by taxi from the airport which was arranged by the Riad. We were welcomed with tea and coffee and shown to our room. The following morning we were given a tour of the lovely Riad, Breakfast was personally made when we wanted it. The staff were kind and very helpful in every way, even providing umbrellas to dodge the occasional showers. The Riad was very well placed to explore the city and we had a very enjoyable stay there.Max - Potters Bar, UK
Wonderful rooms. Very quite at night. Awesome hospitality. Wonderful catered supper.Tom - Cody, USA
Hands down one of the best hosts and Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed at. I arrived a bit early for check in and was coming off some pretty bad food poisoning from the night before. When I walked in, they immediately could tell I was not feeling well and not only gave me a bottle of water, but also hot mint tea, hot water with cumin (A Moroccan remedy) and a full bowl of fruit. Plus they somehow managed to have a room ready for me knowing that I could use the rest. When I had to be up by 5am to make an early flight the next morning, they handed me a bag with a mini breakfast for the road! The hospitality was out of this world. The space is beautiful with the interior courtyard and is wonderfully quiet at night. After driving around Morocco for about 2 weeks, this Airbnb is not only the best place I stayed at but also the only place where I would travel back to Morocco just to stay at again.Robbey - Dallas, USA
Best place to stay in Fes near the Medina.Nicolas - Spring, USA
Riad Layalina was our favourite riad in Morocco. We stayed a total of 3 nights. What impressed us most was the warmth and hospitality of Muhammad, who, instantly made us feel welcome. We were welcomed with a complimentary, delicious tagine and bowl of fresh fruit. Our breakfasts everyday were extraordinary, compared to other riads. Muhammad was so thoughtful and caring – running after us to offer an umbrella before we ventured out in the rain. We visited Morocco during the winter, our room’s heater was turned on before we entered. We loved waking up to such a gorgeous view. Thank you Muhammad for a wonderful stay.Alia - Toronto, Canada
Riad Layalina is an amazing place to stay; very good located at the old medina, charming building and rooms, nicely decorated, an excellent service by the most friendly and helpfull staff, great food (nice breakfast and the best evening meal we had in Fez), lovely places to relax at the cosy rooftop terrace or downstairs by the pool. We were fortunate to get an upgrade to the suite the last 2 nights of our 7 days stay.Vicky - Anvers, Belgique
It was very close to all the attractions without the noise of being in the Médina. The hosts are excellent and gave very good tips on attractions, restaurants etc. They also provided a substantial breakfast every morning. We will definitely return to Cafe Layalina on our next trip to Fes.Arjun - Coppell, USA
We spent two days at the Riad, and would have happily stayed longer. When my husband and I arrived with our daughter by car, one of the hosts came out to guide us into the parking area. During check-in, we were warmly greeted and treated to mint tea and scrumptious pastries before being escorted to our rooms. Our room was spacious, with a very comfortable king-size bed, and a huge private bathroom. Our daughter’s was also lovely, with plenty of room for one person. We spent a considerable amount of time the first afternoon on the terrace, where the views of the city were breathtaking. It’s so close to the Medina, but very quiet with little street noise. We opted to eat dinner there rather than look for somewhere else, and that was a brilliant idea. The meal was delicious, with a wonderful eggplant salad, lots of vegetables, and a lamb tagine that was melt-in-your-mouth and so tender. The second night we had an equally wonderful chicken couscous. Breakfasts were also fabulous, with fresh squeezed orange juice, great coffee, eggs, pastries, pancakes and fruit. There was so much food that we were set for the day.Susan - Media, USA
The building itself is gorgeous, with inlaid tile, mosaics and beautifully carved woodwork and wrought iron. The courtyard was very peaceful, with the pool and an orange tree. The area where we had our meals was very comfortable, with long sofas and padded seats. When it was lit up at night with multi-colored lights, it was spectacular.
All of the staff were warm and friendly, and made every effort to make sure all of our needs were met. We would definitely stay there again.
We only got to stay here one night and wished we could have stayed longer.Melissa - Toronto, Canada
Emails beforehand with Jerome were answered immediately and he was very accommodating with our inquiries changes in plans.
We were immediately welcomed and made to feel at home by Bilal and his team who served us delicious mint tea, tajine, fruit salad and bread, which was much appreciated after a long day of travelling.
The whole place exuded the beautiful Moroccan culture and each room was clean and decorated with authenticity. The steep narrow stairs to rooms might present a challenge to those less physically able. It was very quiet despite being so close to the medina.
Only steps to the medina, we were able to find our way without a guide as Bilal provided us with a map and instructions to and from the Riad. He even made sure our breakfast the next morning was ready early as we had to depart by 8 a.m. He was an excellent host and we will be back on our next trip to Fes!
We only stayed one night but our observation was that the riad was authentic and nice.Craig - East Killara, Australia
The staff were very accommodating. We arrived late and departed early but the dinner was held for us and a packed breakfast was provided to us when we left the next day.
My daughter also left her precious teddy bear behind and the riad helped us get it back by posting the teddy to our next destination. This was much appreciated.
We arrived at Fez from Casablanca-flew in from JFK -NYC. We were warmly welcomed by Bilal and Tafik-(hey are hosts) who served us hot moroccan mint tea -and then gave us a tour of the Riad and showed us the view from the top. The views of the old city and ramparts from the roof top are fabulous. They showed us a map, pointed directions and what to do etc. We had 2 rooms as the suites were taken and it worked out well for us. We walked to the Medina and all the shops –and slept great. We went down for breakfast which was wonderful, fresh, hot and tasty. They really go out of the way to make you feel great. We had a tour of Volublis planned through them and we added a tour of the Atlas mountains. On the way we stopped at Meknes and picked up a lot of olives -they are excellent. We stayed here 2 nights and then went back to Casablanca. The parking is close by and pickups and drop offs are from the road which is the back door to the Riad. Excellent choice, the reviews about this place were all true. You will be pleased if you choose this place. We do plan to return someday. Jerome is the owner and does manage to keep his staff and place running great! Do come here for a cultural experience not a hotel stay –this is not like staying in a hotel room but the advantages do make up for more! Wish you guys took cards and not just cash-the exchange from Dollars to Euros to MCD leave you spinning and you lose money both ways –not the hotels problem –cards would make this a better experience.Samson - Houston, Texas
Great service, the food is delicious and the entire place us beautifully decorated. Highly recommended.Nic- KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
This is a lovely riad on the edge of the Medina with the most attentive hosts. Jerome and everyone working here made our stay extra special. From the thorough orientation upon arrival, to the tea and snacks we enjoyed every afternoon sitting in the rooftop terrace, everyone here seemed to genuinely want to make our stay the best experience possible. I was also impressed with how the staff quickly and diplomatically dealt with a difficult situation involving another guest.Samantha - Eugene, Oregon, USA
Very close to the Medina and great views from the roof.Nathan - Paso Robles, USA
The bedroom and bathroom were perfect. We had a balcony, swimming pool and beautiful courtyard. The breakfast was incredible. We were greeted with complimentary tea and snacks. The host gave us tips for cool things to do. The location is also very close to the main market and the Blue Gate. Overall would no only stay here again, but would consider moving in.Kelly - San Francisco, USA
My partner and I enjoyed our stay at this riad. The guys there were incredibly prompt, polite, and courteous. The location is close to the train station, so it made it easy to catch an early morning train from the riad, and of course, they were completely reliable in organizing this from beginning to end. The food is also fantastic.Bert - Berkeley, USA
It was our pleasure to stay at this Riad.Rachel - Toronto, Canada
This place is amazing!!Marte - Oslo, Norway
This place is simply lovely and pleasant. Perfect to get away from the stress of the daily life. Clean and cozy with a very home like moroccan breakfast which was very delicious. Also very near to the mean attractions in the old medina. People who work there are very friendly and ready to help you out. Definitely I will go back to this beautiful Riad.Faida - Marrakesh, Morocco
This is an awesome place and you would be foolish to pass up the opportunity to stay at Riad Layalina. The riad is beautiful. The rooms are clean. The staff is helpful but not intrusive in anyway. The breakfast is plentiful. The host, Jerome, is a kind man who will arrange anything you need. The location is perfect, you walk 20 steps and you are in a bustling market, but the street by the Riad is easily accessible and quiet. If I find my way back to Fes I know when I am staying! Thank you Jerome!Lawrence - Los Angeles, USA
Riad Layalina was the best we stayed at of all our Riads in Morocco. They had the best service; someone was always around to help us with bookings or questions or even just to carry our bags (which they insist). They also had the best breakfast. Showers were hot and had great water pressure. When we arrived they great you with tea and fruit and water – so welcome after a long day of travel. We HIGHLY recommend this Riad! Central to the medina – we walked everywhere and felt very safe at the Riad.Ryan - Denver, USA
Wonderful place, rooms and common spaces. Guys works with passion and are fully available for any indication or suggestion.Giuseppe - Basilicate, Italy
Was exactly what the reviews had mentioned. Great place and close to the main driving road and just a short walk from the old town (medina)Samson - Austin, USA
Excellent accommodation in a great location. Very close to Medina. Great host and staff.Maarten - Vancouver, Canada
This Riad is located literally right outside the old city/Medina. It is the perfect location for strolling through the many small streets in Fes. The staff here is first class, with the utmost respect and service! It is a very safe place with exceptional amenities and breakfasts that will exceed your highest expectations. The rooms were perfect, the beds amazing and the place is absolutely gorgeous. I am definitely returning to Fes and definitely staying here. Thank you Jerome for a wonderful stay!Trisha - San Antonio, USA
It is the best Airbnb that I ever had! The home is like a palaces, very stylish, clean and very well maintained, also super close the old town, highly recommend!!!!!Jingyu - Houston, USA
Beautiful lodging located in convenient proximity to Medina. We were graciously welcomed by Bilal and made to feel as if we were in our own home. Our accommodation was quite comfortable and spacious and we loved the rooftop which affords a fabulous view over the ancient village of Fes. Our stay could not have been better. A luxury experience at a very reasonable price.BRAVO!Freddy - San Francisco, USA
Highly recommended.Roy - Arnhem, Netherlands
Arriving late the first day, we got a very nice small diner, even though we didn’t make a reservation.
Every morning we were welcomed by warm smiles and a great breakfast.
The staff was always helpfull and friendly.
A 30 seconds walk to the medina.
A train wreck forced us to take a 8 hour bus ride from Tangier so we came in late. We were warmly greeted with a very delicious meal and then taken to a very comfortable room. I didn’t realize how beautiful the riad was until the next morning as we sat down to a meal of eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and croissant/bread. For us, the attentive, helpful and considerate staff made our stay perfect. We hope to come back to Morocco and would definitely stay here again.Jake - Zephyrhills, USA
Very impressed with the hospitality at thus Riad. Definetley the best we experienced during our visit to Morrocco. The breakfast was generous and great. Bilal and and the rest of the team were great. They were helpful and very kind. Location is perfect.Highly recommended.Abdool - Durban, South Africa
Riad Layalina was our favorite place to stay in Morocco. The riad is beautiful, the staff are so helpful and kind and served us fruit and tea while we waited for our room to be cleaned since we had gotten there a little early. The space was pristine and every inch covered in gorgeous Moroccan art. Centrally located but just outside the fray of the tiny Médina streets this place was easy to get to and we received responses immediately. Shukran!Meghan - Washington, USA
Fes was the last stop on our trip to Morocco. After many days of traveling around the Northern part of country, Riad Layalina was a great spot to relax and unwind and the plunge pool is a huge plus! Set right outside of the Medina walls, it is not as noisy as other places we stayed around Morocco. The hosts were very generous and set up an excursion to Volubilis which is a must if you have time. This place as a great price-point for the location and space you will be getting. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Fes.Molly - Washington, USA
Helpful friendly staff and a warm welcome. The propery is beautifully decorated. This was our favourite stay in our two week holiday in Morocco. We liked it so much we went back a second time. Perfect.Debbie - Bristol, UK
We had a great stay at Riad Layalina. Everything was perfect and the place is stunning and clean! We will definitely stay here again next time!Khaled - Bochum, Germany
Beautiful place and amazing hospitality. Highly recommend.Garrett - Kenmore, USA
This Riad is absolutely stunning and in a perfect location just a few steps outside a the most useful entrance to the Medina. The staff are so wonderful and the rooms exquisite. Great AC if you need it, wonderful large bathrooms, quiet retreat, stunning property. And on top of that the food is so good and so plentiful. Loved my stay here and would absolutely stay again. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. Very highly recommend.AnnMarie - New York, USA
Great place within the Medina of Fes! Very hospitable owner and staff. I would definitely recommend it.Steven - Hoofddorp, Netherlands
Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Riad Layalina. Jerome and his staff were not just the friendliest people we met all trip, but by far the most informative and helpful. They are there for anything you could possibly need and always delivered. From helping navigate the Medina, suggesting restaurants and sites to see, and even help booking travel, they really are there to do anything they can to make sure you have a wonderful experience in Fez. The breakfast is excellent (really the best we had in our entire trip in Morocco) and you can’t beat the location; super close to the Medina but just outside of the chaos.
There really is no other riad to stay at in Fez.Myles - Georgia, USA
If you are in Fes, we would absolutely recommend staying at Riad Layalina. There are so many things to say about how wonderful our experience was here. The communication was excellent which is pretty clutch in Morocco. We were able to eat dinner at the riad and arrange transportation with them when we arrived by train. The room itself was gorgeous and comfortable. This riad is in the optimal location for wandering around the medina. Very near to the Blue Gate, Cafe Clock, and more. The view is INCREDIBLE. In fact, this was one of our favorite views of all time. We were even able to catch the sunset in the morning from the comfort of our room. The staff was completely memorable as they were very warm and professional. This was our BEST riad experience, hands down. Fes is an enchanting place to visit and Riad Layalina was the perfect place to stay!Tatiana - Costa Mesa, California, USA
My fiancée and I stayed stayed a couple of nights at Layalina and we enjoyed every minute of it. The location was perfect as it was just outside of the Medina wall which made it easy to get around. The staff was friendly and quick to respond to request and the breakfast spread each morning was among the best we had in our month long visit to Morocco. Highly recommend staying at the Riad Layalina!!!Robert - Pasadena, California, USA
Stunning in every way. An opulent riad, with gorgeous mosaics & woodwork. Spotlessly clean. A refreshing, clean pool in the courtyard, lovely soaps & shampoos, luxuourios linens. Helpful staff bend over backwards to ensure your stay is perfect. Delicious, fresh breakfast. Perfect location near popular attractions & a taxi stand– one of very few in the medina! This is a high-end hotel at a budget price– book it!!Kate - Seattle, USA
We had a wonderful experience from making our reservation, Jerome was accommodating and responsive. The airport driver, Ali then was available throughout our trip and made travel easy. The rooms and Riad are beautiful and the food was very good. The staff were the highlight and took care of anything we needed.Kathy - San Francisco, USA
This has been a great start to our Morocco trip. The owner is a fabulous french guy who happened to be here at the same time.
We had asked for a driver to pick us up. He was there on time and drove a nice car to the hotel. Two guys came and got our luggage to our room. As we landed they served us food and tea….how did they know we were famished.
Ours was the 2 single bed room….we took the last one and it was a cosy room with a beautiful bathroom attached. The breakfast is very tasty and huge. The hotel is beautifully done and the service is phenomenal. The view from the rooftop is good.
They gave us a map and pointed at the right sites. Take the map wherever you go…very helpful. And oh yeah…the icing on the cake…you are just a few feet from the Medina gate and the parking lot makes it easy to identify as well.
This is an absolute beauty that we would gladly recommend.Ramakrishnan - Chennai, India
If you are coming to Fes, Layalina is a great spot. I can not stress enough how good the location is. Is right at the entrance of the medina which makes it strategic for going in the souks and streets while being able to come back to a place with peace and quiet. You can not value enough how much you need to stop the overstimulae after a day inside the medina. Everything in there is a burst of stimulus. Sensory overload of colors, sounds, smells and salesmen. You will need that little bit of peace at Layalina’s pool with a mint tea. The food here is very good. You may end up paying way more at some of the fancy restaurants in Fes for a less tasty meal. We had an amazing aubergine salad and a great tajine. We heard from other guests the couscous is also great but we didn’t get to try it. Last, but not least, the staff here is superb. They will help you with anything you need and are very proactive. I am very thankful to them. Layalina is also very close to the Marinid Tombs, so don’t miss the opportunity of climbing a few steps to this hill and watching the sun set over the Medina from there. Don’t take a taxi, just walk up and down. Is the best view you’ll get of the city.Joe - New York, USA
We had a wonderful stay at Riad Layalina! Being welcomed with mint tea and a freshly made fruit salad we had a lovely arrival at this beautiful Oase. Even when my friend got very ill on her last day, they were over the moon helpful: offering to get her medicine or any food from the city she would ask for. They made her a tea with cumin that should help her stomach. The help was amazing! The breakfast was one of the best we had during our ten days in Morocco. We highly recommend this place! It’s perfectly situated at the entrance of the Medina.Stefanie - Hambourg, Germany
Layalina Riad was a perfect ellection. Superb in all aspects, the team of the riad helped us in everything. The location is very good, the meal perfect and the small pool very convenient in the hot summer.Xavier - Saragossa, Spain
This is a beautiful Riad in a great position on the edge of the medina. Easy access via a petite taxi from the train station – cost approx 20 mad. We were given an upgrade to the petite suite which was beautiful. The airconditioning and pool were very welcome as it was 42 degrees both days early in September. The roof terrace has an amazing view and they will do your washing for 50mad. The breakfast was the best of the trip with something different each day. I will be recommending this place to all my friends.Cate - Tasmania, Australia
Would definitely recommend Riad Layalina. We had 3 fantastic nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very quiet as it is just outside the medina, but it is very close to everything. We were greeted with tea, water and fresh fruit, and they took time to show us everything on a map. Our room was lovely and had a great view. The pool was a welcome relief in the hot afternoon. The breakfasts were delicious and huge!Victoria - Auckland, New Zeland
The breakfast was amazing and plentiful. Very helpful host.Andrew - Labrador, Australia
So close to the Médina but away from the noise this gorgeous classic building is only the start of many highlights of staying at Riad Layalina. Superb architecture , huge comfortable suite with ensuite, loft and huge balcony overlooking the pool and Médina. The tram were wonderful and looked after us like family. The food is the best and most authentic we had anywhere in our 12 day visit to Morocco. The cooking lesson my wife had was a special experience with wonderful chefs and beautiful people as well. Jerome you are so lucky to have such a wonderful warm and caring team and congratulations on one of the best stays we have ever experienced.Stuart - Balwyn, Australia
The greatest place we stayed during our travels in Morocco! The staff was really helpful and kind. On arrival after a 8 hour train trip from Marrakech we were served Tagine and fresh fruits. The Riad is beautiful and the guys there will help with everything you need. Definitely stay here if you are going to Fes.Emil - Copenhagen, Denmark
Lovely, quiet, centrally located, super clean, rejuvenating hub from which to explore Fès! Pool, meals, air conditioning and wifi make it easy to want to spend the hotter days inside in style. Highly recommend it!Jessica - New-York, USA
Amazing stay at the riad. Very beautiful and relaxing place. The staff really go out of their way to help you out. Thank you so much mohamed and bilal! You guys definitely took care of me on this one!Krizia - Calgary, Canada
Beautiful place, so clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!Debbie - Casablanca, Morocco
Excellent hospitality, someone was always on hand to provide us with a mint tea or a water. The vegetarian tagine and fruit salad offered on arrival were delicious and much welcome after our 6 hour bus journey. Breakfast was amazing and when we had a very early flight thank you for arranging our taxi and our 5am packed breakfast! Great location very close to the Médina. But also enough on the edge to feel like a tranquil retreat after a hard days shopping. The plunge pool is great for cooling off at the end of the day. And the whole place is beautifully decorated. Without a doubt the best place we stayed in Morocco. We were delighted to return here at the end of our trip. So much nicer than an international 4 star hotel we stayed in elsewhere.Sophie - London, UK
I had a wonderful stay at Riad Layalina. I really enjoyed the location. Very easy to find once arriving to the entrance of the Medina . Incredibly friendly staff & very helpful ! The food was very tasty I was offered a meal both times i arrived immediately . I thought that was very kind . I definitely will be visiting again!David - Washington, USA
Really good place to stay in fez! no doubt to come back. It is close to la medina, but not to much, really quiet and beautiful!Lara - Barcelona, Spain
You MUST stay here. Incredible hosts and beautiful Riad|Amina, Laura and Irene – London, UK
don’t know where to start. We had THE BEST stay in Morocco at Riad Layalina. Mohamed and his team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to make our stay as incredible as it was. We stayed in 4 different riads in 4 cities on a road trip in Morocco in August, and we kept comparing each one of them to Riad Layalina. Not even more expensive and luxurious ones were able to come close. Nope. Not even close.
Nothing was ever too much trouble. We were helped and looked after from the moment Mohammed waved at us from the balcony and gave us a hand parking the car in the secured parking – they have CCTV as well!
Breakfast and food is fantastic. The riad is beautiful, clean and confortable. AC is installed in every room, so if you travel in summer like we did, you’ll still have a pleasant cool sleep. Beds are super comfortable too, great mattress.
It’s amazing to get “home” in the evenings and sit with a tagine and some cool drinks dipping your feet on the pool whilst having a nice little debrief chat of our adventures…
I could go on and on and on, but I don’t think I can explain it on here much more – you must visit it and judge it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
We’ll be back. We promised, and we can’t wait. Thank you again guys.Amina, Laura and Irene - London, UK
Mohammad, Mohammad, and Belal were absolutely fantastic at this Riad. Not only did they help us throughout our stay, they went above and beyond to help us return our rental car, arrange airport and train transportation, move luggage, pick up train tickets, and even walk into the Medina at night when we didn’t feel as safe. They made our stay truly special and we would return in a heartbeat.
On top of that, this Riad is excellent, especially if you’re traveling by car (they have free gated covered parking that is separate from the car park down the street) or have quite a bit of luggage. It’s a minute walk from the gates into the old Medina and 15-20 minutes from anywhere you’d like to go in the old city.Rishi - New York, USA
We spent two nights at this Riad during a backpacking trip and it was simply amazing! It was honestly the most beautiful und comfy appartment we ever had during our whole Marokko trip. Jeorme is a warm-hearted, super polite host who will try his best to make you feel as welcomed as possible. Don’t miss the pool, the great roof terasse and the delicious food, including more breakfast than you can eat 😉 I highly recommend this Riad for everyone!Melissa - Bürmoos, Austria
Lovely, quiet, centrally located, super clean, rejuvenating hub from which to explore Fès! Pool, meals, air conditioning and wifi make it easy to want to spend the hotter days inside in style. Highly recommend it!Jessica – New York, USA
Definitely an amazing place to stay in Fez! The room was beautiful and really comfortable and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. A few minutes walk to the main streets of the Medina, totally recommended!Camila - New York, USA
This hotel is brilliant, the best welcome ever with mint tea, fruit, bread and tangine and then a walk-through on a map of everything we needed to know for our stay and visiting attractions. It’s a great location too to access all the sites. The guys couldn’t do enough for us no matter what the time and we definitely recommend to stay here….just beautiful.Louie - London, UK
This has been by far the BEST experience I’ve ever had in an Airbnb. The staff, breakfast, location – everything was beyond perfection. If you are staying in Fes, Riad Layalina is the place to be.Kellie - Houston, USA
To echo what I said a few reviews ago, this is the best AirBNB I have stayed in! We stayed at the riad again on our way out of Fes after a jaunt up to Chefchaouen, and once again had a fantastic stay. The location is great, the tiled interior is absolutely beautiful, and the hospitality is unmatched. From the welcoming meal upon both of our arrivals at the riad to arranging knowledgeable guides for us around the city at very fair prices, we felt 100% confident that the hosts had our best interests at heart. Good internet, comfortable living quarters. We were made to feel at home during our stay. Highly recommended!John - Edgewater, USA
The hotel is great but service from Muhammad and the staff was exceptional. My husband and I were getting embarrassed by how much they have done for us, especially Muhammad. He was like our guide who set up our trips daily. He even went and got us bus tickets to go to Chefchaouen because a taxi was too expensive. Then we walked us to the bus station in the morning and ensured we got on. To top it off, he gave us a bag with breakfast to eat on the way so we don’t get hungry. We felt like a loving close family member was taking care of us the whole time. It was so nurturing. I never seen such wonderful service. They also make delicious breakfast. Honestly the best I had anywhere in the world and I travel a lot. The staff did my laundry twice and folded everything so nice and put it in my room. The location is great. We walked all Fes from it because it’s easy to find and follow directions from it. Muhammad gave us a map when we arrived and explained everything so it was easy to get around. The hotel is lovely with beautiful mosaic and architecture. It’s a small hotel so if you are used to big hotels you will be surprised but because it’s so small and doesn’t have many people, we got so much attention from the staff which we needed in a foreign country. We liked sitting on the roof where you have a beautiful view of the city. If you want to stay in the Médina area, then this will be great. The Médina is very old and it seems like there’s an issue with the sewage which smells bad at certain areas in the Médina and even close to the hotel but the hotel itself is very clean. They room was also clean. We had a king size bed and twin size bed. The TV has many channels with various languages. The bathroom was nice with a big tub. There is a small pool for those looking to swim. Overall I loved this hotel and especially the staff. Their kindness will stay in my heart forever and it’s people like them who make me love coming to Morocco over and over again.Suzan - Panama City Beach, Floride
This is a special place, run by special people. Welcoming, close to parking, within the medina and all its charms. Wonderful local cuisine and loads of advice on things to do .Maurice - Cork, Ireland
Can not recommend highly enough.
Really grateful for living so beautiful house, like a castle, hahahah.. really great feeling of the experience to be one in the house. Like princess? Hahaha… strongly recommend to people who come to Fes to live here. And I think people in the Fes were very friendly, the views in the Fes very Good. I wanna to back again. And live this hotel again.Magara - Beijing, China
Muhammad was tireless in making sure I was comfortable & well fed (despite it being Ramadan) in his beautiful Riad. It is adorned with ornate, historical, intricate wood carvings & has some of the most splendid tile work one will see. A small pool & romantic lighting add to its charm after dark. My room was large, had a comfortable bed, with air conditioning, & a good size bathroom. I enjoyed the food that was prepared for dinner & breakfast. It is very well located & within 2 minutes walk you are propelled into the busy, narrow, maze-like streets of the Médina shared by traders, donkeys, & cart vendors – if you stray you will be surely lost. Lots of eateries on the eastern side (turn right & walk uphill) as you enter the main street of the Médina. A good choice to stay for exploring the Médina.John - Singapore
Layalina is a great location for exploring the medina in Fes, especially if you have a car. It’s near the blue gate and on the very edge of the medina so it was easy to find, park, and take our luggage to. There was a small pool and a nice terrace. It had everything we needed, the hosts were always around to give us water or anything we requested. A very nice stay.Sara - Philadelphia, USA
Great location near the Medina, very attentive host who helped feed us because at the time of Ramadan most restaurants were closed. Old property with wonderful architecture and character but that also means older facilities.Chrissy - Queenstown, New-Zeland
This place is a little tricky to find, but well worth it. The courtyard is beautiful, and the rooms are great. Biggest shower ever. Excellent for the price.Anthony – Los Angeles, USA
This was a beautiful, beautifully appointed riad with a pleasant and helpful staff, and they cooked two delicious dinners for all our crew and the breakfasts were delicious. They helped with all logistics concerning drivers and getting from place to place. The riad is in a perfect location, close to parking and to the entrance of the medina.Suzan - Austin, USA
Excellent little place, close to the Medina and very friendly staff. No complaints whatsoever. Great breakfast too, they arranged to have us collected at the airport with any hassle and nothing was too much for them.Zach - Glasgow, UK
Rarely do I review a hotel before even leave it but I was so impressed with the service and the extreme the kindness shown us by Mohammed and Said. They work as a team, you can tell they are truly unselfish and always put the guests needs first. They took such good care of us. On example is when hiring a private driver to take us to Chefchaouen ended up being too expensive for us. So Mohammed ordered our CTM bus tickets for us off the internet, confirmed everything on the phone and saved us a lot. Then Said walked us to the bus station the next morning and made sure we got going without any problems.Gregory - Honolulu, USA
The Riad itself has such beautiful Islamic detailing all around. Our spacious bathroom area had a funky smell from the city sewer, but you can expect that in any Riad in the Medina (in Marrakesh or Fes).
They say that they treat you as family at Riad Layalina and that is absolutely true.
Great place to stay. The staff was hospitable and helpful. Upon arrival they gave us a snack and some hot mint tea. Two girls traveling through Morocco. We felt safe and welcomed. Beautiful Riad, very close to everything. We walked everywhere. The Riad set up a nice private tour of their city. The breakfast they served at the Riad, was the best we had on our trip.Stephanie - Aspen, Colorado - USA
Very photogenic riad with pool and terrace to view the old medinaWendy - New Jersey, USA
This Riad is extremely beautiful (picture-quality-while-in-Morocco beautiful) and our host was extremely kind and helpful. And it is also super close to everything that Fes has to offer!Daniel - Pittsburgh, USA
Riad Layalina was the perfect place to stay in Fes. It’s on the edge of the Madina, with easy access to the city, airport and connections to elsewhere in Morocco. It was a quiet and peaceful spot to relax after enjoying the hustle and bustle of the Madina. The staff were excellent in accommodating us short notice. We extended our stay and even came back after visiting other places in Morocco. Would thoroughly recommend!Naomi - Seattle, USA
We drove in from Chefchaouen and were a bit spent from trying to fight with the gps, aggressive guys on scooters, and the overall traffic of the day, so when we were welcomed, asked to sit and brought water, tea, and a tomato and egg tajine before we were asked for any information, we felt so welcomed and relaxed. It was like nothing any of us had experienced in our previous travels. It was greatly appreciated and totally unexpected and endeared us to the riad and its staff immediately.
The rooms were comfortable with a chair, wardrobe and safe. Our bathroom was across the hall and was well outfitted. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of blankets. Our rooms were on the second and third floors, and looked over the courtyard and pool. There is a massive roof top deck that overlooks the medina and the city. The general courtyard area of the Riad around the fountain and pool is lovely. Its covered except for above the pool, and there are heaters if it gets too cold. The building is beautifully taken care of, and we appreciated that hallways and stairways have timed light switches so that they conserve electricity. This spot is really a lovely gem on the edge of the medina.
What made this stay exceptional was the staff. We can’t say enough about Saeed, Mohammed, Fatima and Monya. Saeed gave us an amazing welcome and provided us with a map of the medina and some sights to see. Fatima took great care of our rooms, managed a couple of last minute loads of laundry for us and helped us with our cooking lesson. Mohammed gave us directions on getting to the train station to meet the fourth member of our party and then hailed us a cab. He also took us shopping in the market to get meat, veggies, fruit, herbs and spices for our dinner (and gave us directions to things we wanted to see) and then he helped translate for us while Monya showed us how to make Tajine and Harira. It felt like one big family and like we had been welcomed into their home.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for creating such a great experience for us.Eric - Washington DC, USA
We received a warm welcome from Saeed on arrival and enjoyed a small hot meal and mint tea.
Our room was on the first floor and was well furnished with a huge, comfortable double bed and spare single bed. Plenty of wardrobe space and a spacious, well equipped bathroom.
We were there for four nights and had evening meals there twice. Our first meal was a delicious lamb tagine with prunes, almonds and caramelised onions… superb! Our meal on the third night was an ENORMOUS (and slightly alarming!) chicken tagine served with seven vegetables… overwhelming! Both meals were served with a very tasty starter of several freshly prepared salady bits and finished with a simple dessert of fresh fruits. It got chilly in the evening, but there were plenty of patio heaters to keep us warm.
The riad is ideally situated close to an entrance to the old medina and one of the busier and exciting cobbled, pedestrian only lanes. Watch out for the donkeys and men with hand carts… the only means of transport in this fascinating area!
We didn’t use the small swimming pool in the riad… too cold in April, but probably very refreshing in the summer months. Do make the effort to climb up to the riad’s rooftop terrace… great views over the medina and the surrounding area and particularly lovely as the sun goes down and the lights come on.
Saeed booked us a taxi which took us around the outside of the medina and city, stopping at the main sights and all the hilltops to enjoy great views… also a pottery factory and the tanneries. Very enjoyable and good value at 25 Euros for 2 and a half hours. On another day, we did the full day excursion to Volubilis, Moulay Idris and Meknes… again very good value at 80 Euros. I would highly recommend both these trips if you have time.
Thank you to all the staff at Riad Layalina for making our stay so comfortable and relaxing.Derek - Fareham, UK
We stayed at this Riad in Fez on our honeymoon. It was as good,if not better than all the reviews.Alan - Manchester, UK
The Riad is beautifully restored. The tiles and plaster and wood carving as good as any we saw elsewhere. We were welcomed by tea and cakes on our arrival. The taxi we booked through the Riad was a welcome site when it picked us up at the nice train station in Fez. (Unlike the temporary train station in Tanger.) It took us straight to the Riad and they carried our bags in for us
The trip to Morocco was our honeymoon, and one of my friends had rung them up and asked for a bottle of wine and some fruit to be put in the room. There was a huge bowel of fruit and a huge bowl of dates and a lovely bottle of red wine. And rose petals sprinkled about! And a note from Sarah.
when we stayed it was the unusual cold snap in early April and they has already put the heaters (which are also the air conditioners) on the in bedroom. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. The evening meal we had was excellent, with the staff putting on the patio heaters, as was breakfast. The patio area has a (very high)roof so we were able to sit out and enjoy the courtyard even when it rained. We were given a map of Fez and some guidance on haggling.
We were also given good recommendations for restaurants in the Medina for the night we ate out
The driver they arranged for us for our day out to Voulobilis and Meknes was great.
I try not to stay anywhere twice because there is always somewhere else to try, but if I go back to Fez I will definitely stay here again.
We were a group of 11 and we booked all the rooms so that we could have the riad for our personal use.
We were given a complimentary welcome meal which was one of the best meals we had in two weeks in Morocco. A tomato and egg dish. We scraped the bowls clean.
This was an impressive touch as usually it is a pot of tea that is brought out when checking into a riad.
There is a beautiful courtyard with a small pool where we could sit and relax and eat meals and a roof terrace with a view over the old medina with deck chairs where you can sit in the sun.
The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
They even managed to wash and dry 11 loads of laundry in less than 24 hours for us.
We also had a delicious dinner one night and they were happy to cater for 4 vegetarians in our group.
Location is good as it is just across the road from an entrance to the chaos of the medina.
IGNORE the negative comments in some of the reviews about narrow stairs or dark rooms. The building is very old and was built in the practical Moroccan style of that time. It is part of the charm of staying in an authentic Moroccan riad.Adam - Cape Town, South Africa
If you want light, bright and modern, then a modern hotel in the new part of town is probably better for you.
This was our favorite riad in Morocco. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the riad was beautiful and had a beautiful view of the old Medina. Highly recommended!Greg - Boston, USA
Staying at Riad Layalina was a highlight of Fes! We’re seasoned AirBnB-ers and this was some of the best hospitality we’ve ever experienced. From the delicious meal at check-in to buying bus tickets and actually walking us to the bus station to ordering a pizza for us on a rainy night, we felt completely taken care of. To top it off, the location is absolutely ideal for exploring the city–it’s really nice to be just outside of the bustle of the medina! We cannot recommend Riad Layalina enough!Ben & Mary - Nashville, USA
This was truly a lovely riad from the first moment we stepped inside the welcoming courtyard. The staff was extremely helpful, kind, accommodating and generous…after a long drive, they treated us to brunch in the courtyard while our room was being prepared. the room was big and comfortable, the view into the courtyard is lovely but the surrounding area isn’t anything special. The bathroom was private but located across from the room. it was great that we could park our car in their private backyard. we highly recommend this place.Elie - Saratoga, California, USA
Great Riad on the edge of the medina! A stone throw away from the main market streets and yet incredibly peaceful and quiet once inside. Nice little rooftop view too!Kyle - London, UK
Nice place, beautiful and special decoration. Have hot water and air conditioner.Runan - Wuhan, Chine
Incredible experience|Rob – Toronto, Canada
Had a wonderful stay at Layalina, the location was great and the Riad is beautiful, the best one we stayed in whilst in Morocco. Layalina is the perfect place to soak up the culture of Fez with amazing views over the city and friendly staff serving great food and very helpful at all times. My only regret is not staying longer!
Absolutely beautiful! Stunning riad, great breakfast, great location, my favourite riad without a doubt! Can’t wait to come back. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!Jess - Byron Bay, Australia
The common areas are very beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. There are lots of steep stairs and not a railing in sight however. Real Riad living. The breakfasts are fabulous. We had dinner in twice and it was also excellent and very nicely served to us. Perfect location for us. Free parking just off the main road.
Thanks for all of your many kindnesses during our stay.Kate - Hamilton, Canada
Stayed here for 2 nights and everything about this exceeded our expectations. The staff was great and always helpful. The food was also very good. It’s a beautiful Riad, located in a a good location in the old medina.Joe - Los Angeles, USA
Well situated for exploring Fes, we very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Riad. We were constantly met with a high level of accommodation by all of the staff; Mohammed and Said were our liaison with the other staff and the outside world. Whether we needed suggestions or directions, help with getting a phone card, meals in our room, help in with our bags… the list is too much to describe… they were there whenever we needed, and always went above and beyond expectations. It certainly didn’t hurt that the Riad itself is beautiful and was well appointed. On a different stay, it would be lovely to use the plunge pool. We had some delicious dinners as well as breakfast everyday. I’m pretty sure that all the staff figured out that I had fallen in love with Zaalouk…if you don’t already know what it is…be sure to tell them that you would like to try it, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you, everyone!Kate - Hamilton, Canada
Great location with easy access to the markets.Hendrick - Calgary, Canada
Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel at home. They even made a trip to the train station to buy tickets for us. Can’t thank them enough!
The breakfast that is included in the room is fantastic.
Said and Zakariya were extremely welcoming and accommodating. They went above and beyond expectation and made our stay really wonderful. We would absolutely go back given the chance. Thank you Layalina!Ivan - San Francisco, California
We booked a last minute trip to Fes just after New Years. We arrived at 2am and were met by a gracious and smiling Saed. Over the entire three days Saed and Zakaria could not have done more to help us. Our early morning flight (for which Saed had got up early to pack us a breakfast picnic to the airport) to leave was delayed by 8 hours and when we returned to the Riad to wait for the flight they made everything easy and comfortable. Can not speak more highly about their efficiency and gentle charm.Tehzeeb - New York,USA
Staying at the Layalina was definately one of the high points of our visit to Morocco. Over the four days we stayed at this well-tended, centrally-located riad, the hosts, Zakaria and Saed, made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and were unbelievably accomodating, even helping us find an outstanding hammam spa–a first-time experience for our family of four. On our final night, they prepared an amazing meal that stretched late into the night, a memory we will always hold dear.Ella - Bloomfield, USA
The Riad Layalina is a wonderful place to stay in Fes. Saed and Zakaria were excellent hosts who ensured that we had a comfortable stay at their place. The Riad is close to Medina. The mint tea and the food was delicious, I highly recommend staying in for dinner.Akhan - London, UK
Wow. Our stay here was faultless. The Riad is absolutely beautiful, the price was extremely good given other places I’ve stayed in Morocco, the staff are a credit to the owner, Zachary and Saed are fantastic. Breakfast every morning was sublime, a warm shakshouka on arrival was a great homely touch, making breakfast at the crack of dawn for us before a day tour is going above and beyond. You won’t find a better Riad unless you pay double or triple. Many visits to Morocco and this will now be my regular place to stay.Alex - Sydney, Australia
Booked Riad Layalina for a short visit to this historical city with the family (w. 3 young children). What an amazing place! Beautifully renovated old house at the edge of the old medina. Very friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. Own safe parking. Little cold in winter (in particular for breakfast outside in the patio…), but well worth it. Highly recommended.Rene - Mexico city
I stayed here with my boyfriend, and we loved it. It was easily our favorite place in Morocco. The owner isn’t always there, but he was during our stay, and he was delightful. We really enjoyed talking with him. The people running the place are super kind and helpful. Our room was huge and very comfortable. The riad is absolutely gorgeous and is located perfectly. It’s just on the outside of the medina, which makes it easy to get to and easy to walk around the medina. Last but not least, the food was amazing! We had breakfast and dinner at the riad, and both were delicious. We highly recommend staying at Riad Layalina.Sharlene - Highland, USA
We highly recommend staying at Riad Layalina! The room was beautiful, comfortable, and spacious. The host and staff were beyond kind, generous, and friendly. The food was amazing and plentiful. The Riad grounds are beautiful, and the location is perfect. It’s super easy to get in and out of this place as it’s just on the outside of the Medina. You don’t have to navigate through the Medina at all. This is a big plus. When you do want to go to the Medina, no problem, it’s right there. We would stay here again, and again! Book it. You’ll be glad you did.Sandy - Hermosa Beach, California USA
We stayed two nights at the Riad Layalina. Jerome & his team welcomed us warmly. We got really good advice for restaurants & trips in the area. Beautiful room in the first floor, stunning atrium, delicious food. More that we could ask for! We would book it again eventhough it was a little hard to locate first 😉Flavia - Zurich, Switzerland
Where do I begin!Linda - Quebec, Canada
We were picked up from the train station. The Riad is a few feet away from one of the entrances to the Médina. The Riad is magnificent! Stunningly beautiful! The owner, Jérôme, is laid back, friendly and extremely helpful. Upon arrival, which was around lunch time, we were served a delicious egg tagine, olives, bread and mint tea which was so appreciated. For free! Radouan and Mohamed who manage the place are so lovely. Very accommodating. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Having a dip in the pool in evening with the scent of night blooming Jasmin was delightful. Highly recommended this perfect Riad. I would come back to Morocco just to stay here. Merci, Shukran!

One of the best experiences in our 3 weeks travelling in Morroco! It is an authentic palace, very close to the medina. Extra bonus that were important to us: pool (so refreshing) and private parking.Filipa - Alcochete, Portugal
I strongly recommend Riad Layalina Fez! It will not disappoint!
Well I must start off by saying this was my first time to Fes and my friends second time.i had seen pictures on the website of this beautiful and exquisite Riad. We were not disappointed by this experience.Paul - Warwickshire, UK
On our arrival we were warmly welcomed and what we had seen in the pictures on the web could not really describe what we felt about this Riad as although the pictures are stunning the feeling on arriving was one of relaxation and almost instantaneous belonging. The beautiful colours the fountain outside our room and the impressive pool to cool off in after a long walk through the Medina.
We were also served a Tagine of eggs a beautiful sauce and selection of breads which was very welcoming.
The bedroom was again stunning and tranquil and attention to detail was evident. 2 four poster single beds that were draped in a lovely sequinned material leading on to a deep large bath tub made out of stone come shower. Every effort it seemed to put you at ease. It all flowed and married together to enhance the relaxed feeling. Don’t get me wrong it was different to a plush hotel (thankfully) everything flowed and there was a calm feeling about the Riad in general.
We took some steps up to the roof where you had a view of these ancient buildings all irregular and flowing in this hot arid arid climate. A Mosque not very far from us however this was expected once we had found that there were 785 Mosques in Fes and the calling to prayer was moving to say the least.
So the roof top terrace covered in a canopy with stunning ornate railings all around you casting silouhettes on the stone work around us whilst sitting there taking in the mileau the calm feeling this place evoked.
The guests we saw from time to time almost seemed handpicked or maybe they felt this true sense of calm also.
The walls throughout with there burnished finishes were astounding without the straight lines added to the overall finish of this Riad.
The staff here could not do enough for you and it was very clean.
Jeromi the owner was a calm man who you could tell loved his Riad and was passionate about how he fell in love with the place explaining that he had no experience of renovation however found the right people to create this stunning Riad that I will be overwhelmed and excited about going back to.
We also enjoyed a few stories that Jeromi told us about Fes on top of the Riad. A real interesting and warm man.
So in summary I would say that this Riad if anyone stayed here they would certainly not be disappointed.
If I spelt your name wrong Jeromi please accept my apologies.
Riad Layalina was a fantastic place to stay in Fes, we stayed for three nights and had a wonderful time. The location of the Riad is fantastic, very close to the main streets into the medina and also a close walk to Gare Routiere, the main bus station. We had dinner at the Riad one night which was delicious and also enjoyed the breakfast put on each morning. It was very refreshing to have a swim in the pool after a hot day walking through the medina. This is a beautiful Riad and we highly recommend staying if you are travelling to Fes, the staff are very helpful and created a wonderful stay for us in Fes!Veronica - Australia
This was by far one of the best experiences I ever had while traveling in terms of customer service. The staff served us with such kindness and generousity that we thought it was too good to be true. Strongly recommend the place.Eduardo - Gatineau, Canada
I couldn’t recommend this Riad highly enough! They are SUPER close to the Old Medina but aren’t actually inside of it. The Riad is open and airy. The rooms are beautiful, clean and lovely. We were greeted with warm tea and an open door. They did my laundry immediately and helped me rearrange a few things in the first 10 minutes I was at the Riad. They even got up at 4 am to hand me a “to-go” breakfast for my early morning flight. If you want to stay near the Old Medina (2 minute walk!) and have super fast wifi and great service… this is the Riad for you!Jodi - Anchorage, Alaska
Riad Layalina is a gorgeous oasis in Fes. We loved staying there. It is just outside the walls of the medina, in a very convenient location. The rooms are comfortable, with strong air conditioning (which is much needed!) The plunge pool is also a real treat. The roof is perfect for sunsets and the breakfast is tasty.Lauren - Oakland, Canada
Excellent facilities and beautiful interior. My friends and I were treated like kings, the staff were wonderful and a real credit to their business. I would highly recommend staying here to everyone, and I am already planning to return in the near future. 5/5.Joseph
Beautiful place with a small plunge pool which was wonderful. We were a group of bikers so for us one of the most important thing was that they have their own enclosed area where the bikes were safe. A rare thing for Riads in the area.Damian - Gibraltar
Also the staff was excellent meeting our every need. We are arrived well past midnight and were set astray by bogus tourist assistants. We called and Osama came to find us. On arrival we were lavished with fruit cocktail and refreshments. Guides for the tour of the Medina and Hamam was also organised by them.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Riad Layalina for two nights in August 2017 and had a great experience. The riad itself is beautiful, with a courtyard, a pool, and fantastic views of the city and hills. Our room was palatial–it had a whole other bedroom we didn’t even use, as well as a living room overlooking the courtyard, a large bathroom, and the main bedroom–and all for only 160 Euros. The staff was a real highlight. Each morning they served us a generous breakfast of pastries, eggs, coffee, and orange juice, and they were happy to help us out with calling cabs and communicating with a driver we had hired for a day trip to another city. Most importantly, when I accidentally left behind a ring and a phone charger, they found them and sent them to me in America free of charge. The location is also great for exploring the old medina, and it’s a quick cab ride to the train station. I highly recommend Riad Layalina and hope to stay there again when I return to Fez.Sam - California, USA
I’ll be honest…we had just came from a stay at a riad in a medina in Marrakesh and we were skeptical to stay at another one. Layalina, however, was amazing through and through. On the edge of the medina it was the perfect riad to stay if you have trouble navigating in Morocco and more importantly have a car. They have their own private car park! Those using GPS will have no problem finding the place since the parking lot is a major waypoint on the car’s navigation. The staff was super friendly and attentive…the layout of the whole riad and our rooms was simply charming and the breakfast was plentiful! Highly recommended! (Don’t forget to check out the courtyard at night…some cool lighting effects installed).Jonny - Yonkers, USA
Wonderful place to stay in Fez!! We stayed in riads all over Morocco, and Riad Layalina was definitely the best. We were there in August, and the air conditioning worked great and the small pool was a miracle at the end of a long, hot day. The staff was wonderful helping with arrangements, water, tea, and meals. They even had a parking spot for our car. The Riad itself is beautiful. This place was perfect!Evan - New-York, USA
After these last great 3 days of our trip we have nothing to say but a big thank you!Alonso - Barcelona, Spain
Everything was excellent since the moment we arrived.
Beautiful Riad, nice room with good airco, beautiful Moroccan courtyard with a pool, diverse breakfast each morning, stunning views from the rooftop terrace, and great location.
And on top of that, Redouane and Bilal are the most helpful and nice staff you can find!
We stayed me and my gf for just one night we had superior double room and it was the best room ever!! Great welcoming, beautiful riad very close to the medina, top breakfast with fresh omelette too Would definitely book it again and again and again Thanks a lot for the service provided!Gianluca - London, GB
The hosts/staff of this riad are amazing! They went above and beyond for us. Unfortunately my husband fell ill while we were staying here. It was stressful and scary, but the staff went out for us and got us some medication to help him. On top of that they wouldn’t even let us pay for the medicine. They also kept giving us bread and fruit, as that was the only food my husband could stomach. Really appreciated. They also serve breakfast at any time! As opposed to before 10 am as all the other riads. I really appreciate this as sometimes, you want to sleep in and take it easy and being stuck to a schedule sucks. Overall, the riad was great, the rooms for comfortable, but the staff made this riad special for us!Douglas - London, UK
Beautiful riad with a lovely rooftop terrace overlooking the media. Huge breakfast each morning! Very friendly staff, they even helped us book our bus ticket to our next location and walked us to the bus station very early the next morning to make sure we got onto the correct bus. I would highly recommend this riad!Jill - Winnipeg, Canada
This was the nicest Riad we stayed in in Morocco. I highly recommend it. It’s exactly as pictured and the pool was nice and cool (as was the air conditioning) during our stay when the days were well into the mid-40’s. Our welcome was great and they arranged pick up from the train station and even though our train was over an hour late, there was still somebody there waiting for us. They arranged a wonderful official guide and driver for us. I really can’t say enough positive about it. Location was also great, right next to a busy area of the medina.Nicole - Regina, Canada
The Riad is perfectly located between the bus stop and the Medina. We were able to walk through the Medina all the way up to the ruins on the hill over looking the entire city. The pool was an excellent way to cool off in the afternoon after long mornings in the heat, and the staff were very helpful and always available. The breakfasts were the best I’ve had in Morocco and they even packed us a breakfast to go when we had to leave very early in the morning to catch a bus. Gorgeous place to stay and just an overall great experience. I would definitely stay here again.Bailey - Toronto, Canada
Exceptional riad – can really relax and decompress here. delicious breakfast/food, luxurious decor, and an amazing and attentive staff (i.e. Jaffar) makes this Airbnb memorable. also, the layout of the riad makes it easy to meet other guests, rooftop gives a nice view of the city, and the water pressure/temperature in bathrooms was perfect. would most definitely stay here again.Jessica - New-York, USA
Not enough good things to say about Riad Layalina. The place is absolutely stunning – the photos don’t do it justice. It feels like a little oasis in the middle of a bustling city. I traveled with two friends and we instantly felt at home and relaxed. The entire staff is some of the most hospitable people I’ve met. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable. Jaffer specifically was incredible. He made our trip memorable with his excellent customer service. If we travel to Fes again, the only place we would stay is here.Kamari - Boston, USA
Our stay (9persons) in Layalina was great. Perfect location and a relaxing haven to come home to after a visit to the bustling medina. The rooms are nice and the riad has an enjoyable Maroccan atmosphere. Jafar and his friend were great hosts, we hope too come back.Serge - Hasselt, Belgium
Our 3 night stay here was really enjoyable. Service was excellent staff were very helpful & nothing was too much trouble. Suite was ideal for us having 2 bedroom and a separate living area. Breakfast were very good. Would recommend this Riad.John – Alfreton, UK
Beautiful Riad, qiuet located at the margin of the medina. Lovely service and very kind and welcoming hosts. Cute and clean rooms. The food is great and the staff comforts you. We highly recommend to stay at this place.Philip – Köln, Germany

We had a great stay- everyone made us feel completely welcome, we were looked after by staff there. The room was very cozy with a nice view. Breakfast was also great. Probably one of the best stays we had out of all our trip to Morocco.Nadia – Liverpool, UK
Beautiful Riad Layalina provides exceptional quality because the people working there take great care of you and are courteous throughout the stay, they made sure you were settled and comfortable. Hospitality was of highest standards and they provided a welcoming meal which was wonderful! Additionally, they have complimentary private parking which is a luxury by Fes medina! The riad is by the Ain Azleten car park, which is next to an entrance to the Medina. You’ll be able to walk to the medina within 5 minutes.
I’d like to mention a very special Shukrane to Jawad as he has always been there throughout the stay. Jaffa is also exceptionally friendly and helpful. The ladies of the kitchen cooked up a dinner that was absolutely out of this world as we ate like sultans. We truly felt welcome and at home because them.
This place has an old fashioned Moroccan charm with all the views, people and quality with it.Dan – London, UK
This was a wonderful oasis in the hustle bustle of Fez. It was wonderful to arrive after the long journey and found this place easily with the help of the staff. Jawed greeted us with a lovely dinner and mint tea when we arrived which was perfect after a long day of traveling. The room was beautiful and had great views of the whole city. It had old style charm and plenty of windows and views to enjoy the riad style of living. The terrace is beautiful and has expansive 360 degree views of the City and perfect for sunsets. They were very helpful and no ask was too much. We will definitely be back!Katelyn - New York, USA

Beautiful riad which was very conveniently located in Fes-el-Bali. Just a few steps away from one of the main shopping streets, but quite tucked away from the busy-ness. As other people on this site have commented, the staff were really helpful – in every way. We had to leave at the ridiculous time of 3.45am but Jaffer arranged the taxi for us and then also got up to see us off with a bag of snacks for our journey! I would definitely recommend this Riad.Sue - Royston, UK
My wife and I stayed for a week whilst visiting Fes. The Riad is in a nice location very close to the Medina, and maybe a ten minute walk from the Blue Gate.Mand - Melbourn, Australia
We stayed in the junior suite, which had an ensuite, double bed and 2 singles in the loft. The shower does not have a screen or curtain so the floor can get a bit wet, but the sun quickly helped to dry it.
We ate breakfast at the Riad every day as it was included, and it was a good sampling of a typical Moroccan breakfast, with some eggs, alternating varieties of breads and traditional pancakes, fruit, yogurt and coffee. Often we could not finish it all.
We tried the cooking lesson with Fatima and Jafar – definitely a great experience, and then we got to eat it!
The staff were helpful when asking for advice on what to see/visit, and booking taxis/cars. They can speak English and French.
The terrace on the roof or the Riad have amazing views over the old city.
I would stay here again.
This was our first experience with Riad and it was awesome..
– I must say the service is outstanding, Jaffer & his younger colleague were exceptionally helpful in every way from check-in to information about Medina till check-out they make sure that guest is comfortable in every possible manner.
– The Riad is beautifully decorated, the my favourite part of the property was the open courtyard cum lobby, it is peaceful n full of good energy.Micky - New-Delhi, India
It has the Best location in terms of access, view and proximity to the most attractions in old Medina.
We had an excellent stay at Riad Layalina and the staff were excellent right from the minute we got there. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fes. It is located extremely close to the Medina and easy to get in and out of the Souk.Omar - New Jersey, USA
Not the easiest to find, but call ahead and the Riad will send someone to meet you.
We were met with incredible hospitality and were provided not just a warm greeting but delicious mint team and lovely Moroccan food as they knew we had been traveling all day. The Riad is very peaceful and quiet, and decorated beautifully. They also have a great WIFI connection, allowing us to connect with family and friends.
The room was BEAUTIFUL, COMFORTABLE, and quiet with great views of the central courtyard. We enjoyed even more incredible views from the rootop terrace where you could see the entire Medina and the ancient ruins overlooking the city.
Jerome and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt at home and were well taken care of even preparing breakfast before normal hours since we had to leave early in morning to continue our journey.Paul - Washington, USA
On this trip we traveled all around Morocco, and this was our favorite Riad and we will definitely be staying her again!
We were in Morocco for 10 days, 3 of which were spent at Riad Layalina Fez. It was by far the best 3 days of our trip. The breakfasts were DELICIOUS and HUGE, and the view from our room was spectacular. Since we’d traveled up from Marrakech, we had a car and the hotel has very safe, convenient & accessible parking – a huge plus for the cities in Morocco (good luck trying to find a place in the Medina with parking). We arrived much later than expected, but Jerome & staff were ready with a hot meal & sweet mint tea. It was lovingly prepared & well appreciated!! All in all, 5 huge stars — we highly recommend it and hope to return on our next trip to crazy Fez.Melissa - New-York, USA
There were many practical reasons why we chose to stay at Layalina, mainly because we were driving and they have a private car park, yet the location is still on the edge of the medina making all the main sites walkable. The hosts were wonderful and we were treated with a tagine and mint tea on arrival which was the best welcome gift after our long journey. We loved our room and our huge breakfast on the terrace. Couldn’t recommend them more.Victoria - Surrey, UK
We so enjoyed this jewel of a hotel. Close walking distance to the hustle and bustle but far enough away for it to be peaceful. Sa’id and Jafar looked after us extremely well serving up a free breakfast fit for kings. The Wifi is super fast, nice hot showers and beautiful decor throughout!Lara - London, UK
This was a great riad with private parking close to the gate of the medina. It is very close to one of the access points to get on top of the old medina walls. The small window out of the shower looks out over the medina walls. The souk is 2 minutes away from the front door by walking. We had the superior double room with king bed and it was a large room. The mattress was pretty stiff like I like it and the frame of the bed is built into the floor so it doesn’t squeak at all. Several of the employees speak at least a little english.
Breakfast was good and the mandarins here were the best mandarins we had in all of Morocco. The Tajine dinner is enormous and tasty…two people can’t finish it, try as we might. We also did the cooking tour and class where you go to the souk to see and sample the ingrediants being bought and learn to make Tajine later. The hotel guide was great and also helped us find our way to a little art gallery to find a painting. The class was informative (and we learned we’ll never take the time to cook Tajine at home) but the cook doesn’t speak English. We lucked out though that the manager’s wife (who is American) was able to come by and translate for us.
You will need to have euros or Dirham for the room, tours, and cooking class. Email the riad after you book and they will send you good detailed instructions for how to find them. We stayed right before Christmas 2016.Tess - Nashville, USA
My husband and I had a fantastic stay in this gorgeous Riad. Jaffa our host was very helpful during our stay, showing us areas to visit in Fes and recommending restaurants to try. The staff were warm, generous and made our visit to fez very memorable. The Riad is beautiful decorated and has a wonderful terrace where you can see right over Fes. The Riad is in an excellent location and was easy to find our way in and out of the medina as it is just off the main road of the medina. If I return to fez I will definitely be back!Tash - Santiago, Chili
Fantastically located 1 minutes from the souk, the main door entrance, 20
Minutes walk from the royal palace.
This has been the best Riad visited during the trip, in terms of elegance, detail attention, lookalike. And also the most expensive one, of course.
Rooms were a little bit cold, wifi was working with hick-up.
The managers were nice, although maybe because Fes is a much bigger city, less talkative and maybe they were only trying to be discrete.
Welcome food and breakfast were really nice and well presented.Francesca - Rome, Italy
Beautiful riad, wonderful staff. Could not have had a more pleasant stay. We loved the courtyard, the room, and the incredibly personable, kind, and helpful staff. Will stay here again next time we’re in Fes!Jaquen - Miami, USA
We were absolutely blown away by the service and beauty of this place! We booked the junior suite, and it was perfect – gorgeous decor, lots of room, and a little loft with two extra single beds. The detail and craftsmanship of the place is astounding, from the stunning courtyard all the way down to the doorknobs and locks. The roof terrace was a wonderful place to read and enjoy the sunset, and to hear the prayer calls across the city.
I cannot say enough about the wonderful service. Jaffa and the staff really pull out all the stops when it comes to making guests feel welcome and comfortable. We were welcomed with a delicious hot meal, and the breakfast every morning was plentiful and delicious.
We could not have imagined a better place to stay while visiting Fes. I cannot recommend Riad Layalina highly enough!John - Alameda, Californie
Lovingly restored riad! The architectural details are amazing – a feast for the eyes. If you are driving, this is the best place to stay; there is a private parking area and you are literally at the doorsteps of the souq. No lugging your bags up the steep and narrow alleyways in the medina. The breakfast was fantastic, a huge scrumptious spread that was way more than what we could finish. The owner Jerome was very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended, you won’t regret it.Philip - New York, USA
Situated in the best area of Fez, Layalina Riad conquered us for small things that astonished us:
1. on arrival, they offered us an excellent meal;
2. The room had a superb decor;
3. The riad is superbly refurbished;
4. the owner and all the staff are really friendly.
5. the breakfast was sumptuous
– Details of refinement

Could be better indicated
Not enough can be said about how wonderful the staff were at Riad Layalina and how lovely the setting is. The riad is very well located in a quiet part of the medina but near all the action. It was winter during our visit but the inviting swimming pool in the main courtyard must be heaven in the summer months, and our room was very lovely (even though it was rather cold until the heat kicked in). The bathroom was really nice with a spacious shower, and views from the roof were great. We also had dinner at the riad which was equally delicious as breakfast: a mezze spread with aubergine, olives, and salad, and then tagine followed by a fruit spread. Definitely recommend having your dinners at the riad!
The staff though is what made it a truly excellent experience, Jaffa in particular. Upon our arrival at the riad at 10am (not official check-in time) a full breakfast was waiting for us: fresh orange juice, omelette, bread/butter/jam, coffee, and typical cakes. Jaffa and his colleagues not only helped us figure out which bus to take to Chefchaouen and which train to Marrakech, but they physically WENT to the stations to buy the tickets for us! This saved us a bunch of time since the stations are located in the new city, and it allowed us to begin exploring the medina. After we checked out of the riad to go on our 1-night stay in Chefchaouen they also let us store our larger bags there for us to collect 2 days later.Caroline - New York, USA
Excelent Riad in Fez. We really recommend it. Excelent value for money. Very close to the Souk. We were very well received. The staff offered an excelent welcoming meal of Tagine of Tomato and Eggs and fresh fruit. The staff was very nice and helped us with everything. The rooms were very nicely decorated (palacian marrocan style) and cosy. Nice bathroom. The Riad is a Palace with a lux decoration. We truly recommend it. Only negative point is that it is not very well marked in the surroundings meaning that we had to ask for its exact location. The Riad has a private parking space so please do not park your vehicle in the parking space near by even if the “valet parking” says you to do so. We met the owner and very nice French Gentleman. You should absolutely choose this Raid when staying in Fez.Rita - Lisbonne, Portugal
Beautiful Riad in a perfect location.Robert - Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA
Riad Layalina is located inside the medina in Fes, but it us very easily accesible which gives you the opportunity to wander through Fes’s wild maze of alleys and shops.
The riad is a beautiful old moroccan home and the people who work there go beyond their obligation to make you feel comfortable and solve any doubt or difficulties that may arise.
Besides all that Layalina has its own parking so if one travels by car it is most convenient and safe.
This was our second trip to Fes, amd if there is a third, we certainly will stay at Riad Layalina again.
The location is fantastic as it’s literally across the parking lot from the entrance to Rue Talaa Kebira which traverses the Fes Bali Medina. If your are driving, the parking is a bit nondescript and you will likely pass it as I did when making the right turn on Rue Ain Zleten. Just passed, you will see a big parking lot at which they will try to charge you 20 dirhams per night, just tell them that’s it’s included in the hotel parking and ask then ask hotel employee come with you to get the car and put it in the Riad Parking lot. Location gets a A+.
The service from the staff was excellent. They were attentive, present and quick to assist. The owner, Jérôme, was present while I was there and he was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable of the area.
Lastly, what impressed me the most was the level of detail and depth and breath of the handcrafted artistry and colors in the interior design.Everything from the window frames, to the doorknob had a form of beautiful and unique design. I was awestruck by the level of detail; felt like I was in a palace. Great for couples given the comfort and single travellers whom appreciate Arabic artistry and design.
If I could say one thing is that the bed could’ve been a bit softer but, minor detail.
Overall, excellent place and definitely recommend a stay.Marlon - New York, USA
As soon as we arrived we felt like we were in a royal palace and were treated like kings and queens.Tess & Scott - Fremantle, Australia
The hospitality was incredible from arrival to departure.
As soon as we arrived we were welcome with a drink and something to eat. Then we got an introduction to the area of Fes from the roof top terrace. Our breakfast was delicious with juice, eggs, pastries, fruit, tea and coffee.
The private parking (fenced) at the back of the Riad is a huge plus as we had a small camper van. It was easily to pop down to the car and get something we needed. We called the Riad just before we arrived and they meet us with our van.
We loved the Riad the so much that we spent a couple of days just reading a book the terrace and by the pool.
You won’t find a better value Riad in all of Morocco! Yes there are nice Riads in Marrakech but this one is the one you will remember.
Thanks Jaffa and Said you made our stay in Fes, and we will be sure to see you again.
We loved our stay at Riad Layalina. Our room on the ground floor was surprisingly quiet and comfortable. Nicely decorated with a safe and a huge bathtub. Jaffar and Said went out if their way to accomodate our needs. We really felt welcome and at home. We had in house dinner (vegan as per our request) and it was very good but we couldn’t finish it as the portions are huge. Location is perfect with a very accessible private parking lot inside the riad. The view from the terrace is beautiful. You can have breakfast served at the time you want but i advise that you warn them if you need to leave early. Overall great experience.Masala - Sydney, Australia
A few examples of how great the service was at Layalina:
– my wife had a tooth ache and they traveled to the store to buy her aspirin and wouldn’t accept our offer to pay for it
– they let us borrow their phone charger when ours broke and asked if we would like to take theirs for the rest of our trip
– took time to show us a map of the city, and advised us which things to see and which routes to take
– upon arrival they gave us a cheese tajine with bread that may have been the favorite thing we ate on our 2 week trip to Morocco
The hotel itself is beautiful. The main square is decorated with mosaic tiles and has a garden-feel. The rooms are elegantly decorated with an authentic feel. Could not be more pleased with our stay!Kim - Singapour, Malaysia
Beautiful Riad with an amazing view of Fez. Very central, just a short walk into the medina. Very helpful staff, who dropped everything to assist us in organising our travel. Parking was nice, secure and off the main road. Overall it was the perfect place to stay in Fez, we’ll definitely be coming back!Travis - Auckland, New-Zeland
Jerome and his staff did an amazing job at making us feel at home during our stay in Fez. The Riad is beautiful and very comforting. Breakfast and Parking options were a plus.
We got stuck with a prior reservation not working out and we took a chance by knocking at the door of Riad Layalina as a last minute replacement. I’m glad we did, we had a room and a welcoming tea within minutes and this location made our trip the best it could have been while in Fez.Kevin - Portland, USA
What was meant to be a one-night-stop-over in Fes turned into two nights as this place is truly enchanting and very hard to leave! Beautifully restored riad that takes your breath away, ever-helpful, charming and kind staff, chilled out atmosphere that makes you feel you are in your heavenly home. This is the work and creation of the lovely owner Jerome whose attention to detail and friendly inclusion towards his guests truly makes this a different experience! It’s a stark contrast to the bustling and busy medina and staying here compliments the experience by giving you some relaxation after shopping and exploring sprees of Fes – which is wonderful, but much helped with such an oasis of calm, tranquillity and beauty to return to. I will be back soon inshallah, shukran giddan, merci beaucoup, thank you again for making our visit so lovely & memorable!!Nina - Competa, Espana
This is the most beautiful Riad we stayed in during our visit to Morocco – the communal areas makes you feel like you are staying in a palace! We also had dinner on our first night and the food was delicious, as was our breakfast next to the pool in the morning. Our host was also very professional, helpful and friendly.Heike - La Haye, Netherlands
We found Riad Layalina a beautiful place to stay. The rooms where large and very clean with huge bathrooms. The staff where very welcoming and the location was prefect far enough away for the crowds of the medina making it a welcome retreat at the end of the day. Parking is available at the back of the hotel though we did have a little difficulty finding it.Carmel - Byron Bay, Australia
Central location. Can walk anywhere in old town in 15-20 min. The hotel looks incredible. The staff is very nice. The food is great. The only negative is that there are no signs for the hotel (not even at entrance), so either call them, or the local parking hustlers will show it to you for a 10d tip.Charlie - Flagstaff, Arizona, USA
Fes, with all it charms is a busy place. Riad Layalina is a quiet oasis just outside the busy streets. (The souk is just 2 minutes away.) I really enjoyed to relax, either downstairs close to the little pool or at the rooftop terrace. At the terrace in the evening it was quite fascinationg to hear the call for prayers from all the mosques in the neighbourhood.Leo - Washington, USA
Just off the main drag in the medina and at the top of the hill, this small riad is well worth a visit. Small dipping pool in pretty walled garden with lots of lovely mosaics … Rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. Parking area at the back for people in cars. I think the location is good for many of the best sights. Go for it.Vicky - Winchester, UK
It was really amazing place to stay. Said has welomed us hospitably, he was so great person to talk, really helpful and frank (which is rather rare in this country). We were so exhausted after 10 days travelling across Maroko and having a lot different, difficult situations sometimes and finally at Layalina Riad we could relax and had simply great time. The standard was at the good level – air condition, small swimming pool, great breakfasts, clean rooms. The Riad is desined in the traditional marocan style. The rooftop terrace has an amazing view of the city. Strongly recommend staying here!Sylwia - Cancun, Mexico
What a beautiful place to stay. very polite and helpful staff. beautiful spaces. just a minute walk to the sough (old bazaar). it has a small and lovely pool as well and the rooftop is just great to chill out. We stayed in the largest room and it was gorgeous with a lovely bathroom. can’t get any better, seriously.Sadra - Manchester, UK
One of the best places we stayed on a recent lengthy trip. Typical of many Riads, this look nothing from the outside. However, on entering it opens to a beautiful tiled courtyard with pool. We were met by the manager Radwan and provided with the usual refreshing mint tea, and most unusually, a complimentary delicious tagine. Breakfasts were magnificent and we dined in one night with again a delicious meal. Lovely comfortable room and the location is just a couple of minutes walk from the old medina of Fez. I have already recommended Riad Layalina to a friend and will continue to do so.Lyn - Melbourne, Australia
My stay here was perfect from the start! Beautiful Riad, wonderful staff, perfect location, delicious food, and they helped organize all my tours! The rooftop terrace had a wonderful view of the city. I highly recommend staying here and I will be sure to book again if I return to Fes 🙂Mira - Eagle, Colorado, USA
Luxurious, authentic and welcoming riad, highly recommended for a romantic get away. After a two weeks road trip in Morocco this was a perfect place to complete our journey. A spoiling few days at this amazing oasis. The staff welcomed us with tea, a plate of pastries and warm tagines. Radouan, the manager, was a unique host who is devoted to his guests and riad. At first we booked for two nights, but quickly decided to extend our stay. The location is perfect, being outside the walls and right by the entrance to the medina.Assaf - Montreal, Canada
The Riad is very charming, nice rooms, very clean and has a nice atmosphere. The staff is also very friendly and the breakfast very good. The Wlan was the fastest we had in our 2 weeks Morokko trip. The Riad is located at the borders to the old town and you are in the Medina within 5 walking minutes.Alexander - Zurich, Switzerland
Friendly, warm and inviting. Staff was so very helpful and accommodating. Helped us with taxis, tours, and information on getting around. The Riad has a pretty and peaceful atmosphere. The room was beautiful and very clean. The bed was so comfortable. Great location. Breakfast each morning was delicious and abundant. Highly recommended.Mike - Columbia, USA
The location is great near one of the most buzzing roads in Fez, there is also a high terrace where you can get a great view of the city. Beautiful interior, excellent rooms, comfortable beds and the staff are extremely kind and helpful, happy to give you advice about getting around Fez and even made sure my girlfriend got a local price at the hammam. Highly recommended.Alexander - London, UK
What a welcoming, lovely place! It is located near one of the central streets leading into the complex of the Fes medina, but just away enough to be quiet and tranquil. The architecture and decoration are the best of the traditional, beautifully done. Our room overlooking the courtyard was comfortable and spacious.Maya - Portland, USA
Radouane greeted us with a delicious and unsolicited lunch tagine, which set the tone for our stay. He and his staff were solicitous and intelligently helpful and kind. Dinner is available, and it would be hard to find better in the city. Excellent value, and a great experience.
Lovely retreat from the bustling medina! We really appreciated having a place to rest and feel safe and comfortable in Fez. The driver picked us up at the airport as arranged and everything worked out perfectly. The staff were helpful and accommodating and went above and beyond to make us feel at home.
After a long car trip from Rabat, we needed somewhere in fez with parking close to the medina, and after combing through tripadvisor reviews this place seemed like the spot. It did not disappoint! The management staff was great, honouring the price I found on trip advisor, giving us an earlier breakfast by request. Parking and location sold us on this place, but the environment and quiet outdoor pool area were awesome bonuses after a long day of haggling in the market! Recommend to anyone with a car driving to fez.Lea - Vancouver, Canada
We had a marvelous stay at Riad Layalina! Cannot say enough good things about this place. The food and hospitality were incredible and the staff, specifically Ried, was extremely helpful and welcoming. When we arrived he greeted us with a tea and snack service which was a lovely touch. The breakfast was super yummy as well. Sied even went and bought us bus tickets, as the ticket office was outside the Medina. Such a thoughtful thing to do. Thank you Sied!! The rooms are clean and the Riad is beautiful. It’s also in a safe location very close to the Medina and good restaurants. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Fes. Thank you so much for making our stay a memorable one!William - Gig Harbor, USA
Riad Layalina is a beautifully restored riad style hotel nestled in the heart of the Fes medina. We arrived late and the hosts graciously welcomed us with mint tea, check in and dinner as previously arranged. Dinner was amazing, starting with an array of Moroccan salads and chicken couscous and ending with fresh fruit. It was generous portioned and delicious. We occupied the top suite (2 bedrooms, a living room and a large bathroom) which was lovely. This riad offered clean rooms, heat, hot water and decent water pressure in the bathroom, and comfy beds…take note as this is not necessarily the norm in all hotels in Morocco. The only warning is that this riad would be difficult to find without help. Ask the host to meet you at the bab (door) to the medina and guide you in; this is necessary so you don’t get lost! We highly recommend Riad Layalina!John - Maryland, USA
Actually inside the Medina with only about 100 meter walk to one of the two main streets. This place actually has secure parking. Best dinner going without having to walk or drive anywhere. Staff was very attentive.Sarah - Portland, Oregon, USA
The team in this Riad is outstanding! From the moment they see you to the moment you leave they will do everything to make sure you are comfortable and looked after!Eduardo - London, UK
Their secret? They pay attention to detail!..
To stay and to eat in this beautiful Riad was an experience!
Well done to all…e Muito Obrigado!
Great place, cosy, friendly, staff are excellent and the food is delicious. Jerome, the owner is charming and there was the perfect balance throughout our stay of bon amie and privacy. Great location, lovely roof terrace with great views. We stayed in a superior room as we wanted the en suite and it was perfect. Highly recommend it.Rob - Birmingham, UK
I stayed at this amazing hotel for 2 nights, and to be very honest, I wish it was 2 weeks that I was staying here. The architecture here was simply amazing, the rooms and the common areas were just delightfully decorated. Coming from Europe, this kind of architecture just blows you away. Then there is of course the location, which is right in the middle of the Medina, so you have easy access to the historical heart of Fez. Then of course the service. Impeccable! Big thank you to Radwan and Said for making our stay sooo enjoyable. Another amazing thing is the view from the top of the hotel. Simply stunning!! I really really hope I get the chance to come back again and stay at this hotel!Cathy - London, UK
Morocco has some beautiful riads and Riad Layalina is certainly one of the top. Beautiful Moroccan architecture and decor, carved stone and tiles – simply stunning! You will be WOW’ed from the moment you walk into the beautiful courtyard. Our room was equally as beautiful with a large king size bed and a very large bathroom. All in all, I have only good things to say. Sayid and Lachen (sorry for misspelling) were amazing hosts.
Because Fez is so overwhelming and confusing, I would definitely recommend that you call ahead for a pickup from the airport or train station or wherever you are coming from. There is no way you will find this place on your own without someone to guide you. (This would be the case with any riad, not just this one, because as I mentioned Fes Medina is a maze of streets that would be impossible to navigate if you were left on your own devices).
The only downside to this (and a few other riads) is when we don’t meet the owners. Granted this is NOT A BIG DEAL, I know this but I do feel that as much as some of these places are beautiful what makes a riad stand out to me is when I meet the hospitable owners. This always makes a difference between good and great. Granted, I acknowledge that the owners sometimes cannot be there, but it would have been nice to meet them.
All in all, would I recommend this riad? Absolutely, without a doubt!Chris - New York, United States
This is one of the nicest Riads we have stayed in. From complimentary cuisine on our arrival to an outstanding breakfast the next morning the manager and crew were just wonderful. Our room was gorgeous and the views of Fes from the rooftop were breath-taking. We would certainly return to stay again. It is a beautiful Riad and staff wonderfulPeter - Canterbury, UK
After traveling from Casablanca it was a wonderful surprise to enter this Riad. While we were admiring the stucco and other design aspects of the Riad we were welcomed with tea, cookies and a tagine. The absolute highlight for us was the terrace with arguably one of the best views on Fes. There’s no better way to wake up seeing the sunrise from there or having a delicious breakfast being served by the very friendly staff before discovering the Medina. Highly recommended.Diana - Bristol, UK
We had a wonderful time in this magnificently restored riad in Fes, well located to visit the medina and with Said the kindest host we had while on a 2 weeks tour through central Marocco, Highly recommended.Kees - Heemstede, Netherlands

I looked around a decent bit, and this is one of the better deals I found in Fez for a more luxurious riad with modern comforts.
It’s a beautiful old house with original details, great rooms and nice bathrooms. The staff is very attentive, and the breakfast is lavish. One of the best things was the location – while a bit hard to find, it’s a clever compromise between staying inside and outside the pedestrian medina: it’s ~50m to the busiest part of the main ‘street’, but abuts a car cul-de-sac that leads outside, so it’s both quiet and easy to park a rental car and drive out.
It doesn’t have as many amenities as some of the highest-end riads (restaurants, a garden) but is also significantly cheaper, so overall a great place to stay, especially once they finish building the hammam!Matei - San Fransisco, United States
We absolutely loved this riad. The staff was so kind and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, and the suite was truly stunning. The riad is right in the medina, and the parking was very convenient. It was perfect for our visit to Fes.Ruth - Connecticut, United States
The staff at Riad Layalina were polite, helpful, and extremely nice. They welcome you with delicious shakshuka and tea. The interior decoration of the hotel is superb, you really feel like you are staying at an ancient Moroccan palace. Our room had a very comfortable king sized bed, with good heating, plumbing etc. There is a nice terrace for you to enjoy the sun and get a view of the old city. Very convenient location for exploring the old medina as well. I would stay here again in a heart beat.Sijia, London - UK
We stayed here for three nights in the Junior suite located on the upper level of the riad. its a lovely room, very elegantly set up and extremely spacious. The riad is situated very close to the medina area. just a few mins walking and one can enter the medina area. The staff are extremely helpful, accommodating and professional. They go to lengths to please the guests. The breakfast was absolutely amazing as was the coffee. The inside of the riad is so beautifully and artistically done up. We had a extremely comfortable stay there. Definitely recommend it !!!Rashid - London, UK
Our first night in Morocco was spent at Riad Layalina in Fes. We had reserved a pickup at the airport, and our driver was friendly and easy to find. When we arrived at the Riad we were welcomed with mint tea and cookies in the beautiful courtyard. As part of our cooking class, we were guided to the medina to gather the ingredients to make our dinner. We spent the majority of our time with somebody from the Riad, which made it feel like we had a guided tour of the old city. Everyone was very kind and attentive to us. The women in the kitchen were so kind and generous, and made us feel very welcome. We made so much food, we felt bad we couldn’t eat all of it! The rooms were very comfortable, and the bathroom spacious with plenty of hot water. A traditional Moroccan breakfast was also provided, which they also were kind to provide at a time requested by us. The service here made our trip more enjoyable.Gregory - Las Vegas, USA
The best Riad we stayed out during a weeklong trip to Morocco!
The location was good for exploring Fez. It was close enough to be on a main Medina street in less than 5 mins, but was far enough away from the hustle of the town to be able to relax as well. We had three rooms in the riad, and each room was clean and without any issues. Plenty of hot water in the showers as well! The rooftop patio has nice views of the Medina and the hills behind the town. The wifi was free and fast!
The rooms and property were nice and clean. The staff was extremely accommodating and were great hosts! They definitely went above and beyond our expectations!
We arrived in the evening after a long train ride and were quickly greeted with mint tea and chocolates.
They typically request that dinner orders be in before mid-day (which is understandable). However, they were gracious enough to make us a small meatball dish on short notice. We were not expecting this after they told us about the advanced
We ordered ahead for dinner on our second night and had a tasty beef and prune tagine. The breakfast spread was very good as well.
Would definitely recommend for a great stay in Fez. If arriving by taxi – have them take you to Ain Azliten parking lot. It is much simpler to get to the riad from here than from the Blue Gate.Tyler - USA
Very nice & clean Riad, in a ‘quiet’ area 2 minutes away of the ‘busy’ main street of the old medina. The hosts were always very friendly & helpful. There’s wifi and small pool and every morning a good (and enough!) breakfast with fresh fruit, orange juice, bread, eggs, … but the biggest advantage is the big roof terrace. Wow, what a view over the city.Filip - Belgium
Stunning Riad with Incredible Views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Riad Layalina. The location is brilliant as it is just on the outskirts of the medina so it is easy to get to and easy to access the centre of Fes.
The riad is just stunning with a beautiful pool and the views from the roof terrace are unbeatable. Service was great and the breakfasts were delicious and filling, setting us up for a day poking around Fes.
A real beauty of a riad!Alice - London, UK
Beautiful riad, just a two minute walk from the medina but very quiet. Really lovely staff–they had helpful tips for where to go, and linked us up with a knowledgable tour guide. Wifi was spotty, but didn’t mind at all. I highly recommend, couldn’t imagine a better place to stay in Fez.Christina - New-York, USA
From the beginning, everyone was helpful and friendly. We booked through trip advisor, as the price seemed very reasonable. After arriving at 2.30am from Marrakesh on the train, we organised a driver to take us to the Riad (it cost 10€ and was about 15 minutes – but ok so early in the morning). We couldn’t see much of the Riad in the dark but it was such a pleasure to wake up in a magnificent place! We decided very quickly we wanted to stay another night, and checked on trip advisor, there was an even cheaper twin room available downstairs with en suite – we were so lucky. The room before had a bathroom opposite the bedroom over the landing – but that was very nice too. The two breakfasts we had were full of delicious things – eggs, pancakes, bread, creme caramel, melon, banana, fresh orange juice, tea, the lot.
Rawan spoke good English and was very helpful and friendly. We even managed to catch the owner, Jerome, who had arrived from Paris on our second night, and was extremely welcoming and charming.
The Riad is very central in the old town, it is easy to walk everywhere. We are in Cafe Clock, which wasn’t that cheap, but had a good atmosphere, delicious food, and the water clock (look up) was amazing to see. There is a grand mosque close to Bab Boujeloud which is open to tourists – not as beautiful as the school in Marrakesh. Upstairs isn’t open, but if you ask to see it, they let you up. The smaller tannery (gueliz) is worth seeing, the other one is a bit further away. The gardens, about 10 mins walk from the Riad is also worth visiting, and it’s free.
We organised a taxi to Chefchaouen as none of the buses had space – it was 700 dirham, so around £55 for a 3.5 hour trip. Apparently that was good value. The bus is way cheaper but you have to book a few days before.
This is a must stay! Wish we could go back!
Thank you Riad LayalinaOlivia and Diana - Suffolk, UK
My sister and I were visiting Fez for 5 days. The Riad Layalina became our home. It is a gorgeous and relaxing place to be and it really added to our Moroccan experience. It is only a three minute walk to the entrance of the Medina and only 8 minute walk to the Blue Gate. Great location! The free breakfast is fabulous, complete with fresh squeezed orange juice and yummy crepes and fruit. The rooftop terrace provides a relaxing place to read and offers amazing views of the city! We stayed on the ground floor in a room with our own private bathroom. Rooms are beautifully decorated and air conditioned.
Staff were particularly helpful and very kind. Everyday they made sure we knew exactly what we were doing and how to get there. They truly went above and beyond. After our adventures in the city we would return “home” and there was always someone around to greet us. They showed genuine interest in our experience and wanted us to have the very best stay possible. My sister broke her sunglasses and they even fixed them for her. The very last day both my sister and I were feeling ill and they allowed us to stay in the room until our flight for no extra cost. Mint tea was served to us with cookies, without us even asking. I cannot say enough about this Riad.
When I come back to visit, I will definitely stay with them again!Christina, Firenze - Italy
Good location! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the riad is gorgeous! The rooms were comfortable and clean- very accommodating. The food is delicious and the breakfast is a huge spread of breads, jams, juice, and more!Megan - Buffalo, United States
We were welcomed warmly with mint tea and delicious petit fours. Dinner on the first night was delicious and substantial. Breakfasts were also delicious – fresh orange juice, omelette, breads, and on the last morning avocado lassi. Great location for the medina and merenid tombs. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was comfortable and fellow guests friendly too. Would strongly recommend.Anonymous
Beautiful riad, with great breakfasts and friendly peaceful atmosphere.
Definitely recommend to others, and would stay again.Jo - Cambridge, UK
Very easy access to the medina and Merenid tombs.
Helpful and friendly staff.
Loved this place! The riad is simply beau-ti-ful. The mozaiques, the bathrooms, the bedrooms, everything is decorated in fantastic moroccan atmosphere. Just go and find out. The rooms with the glass in led windows were so cosy. The owner is very friendly and helpful, the welcoming food was delicious and free. Breakfast was nice. Beds were okay!
Location is perfect. At the beginning of the medina. Easy to find and free private parking.
Wifi connection was good. Too bad we couldnt stay for more than one night.Anonymous
Layalina was one of the few Riad’s easy to get to. The service was very accommodating, the decoration stunning, the shower hot, and the breakfast quite delicious. There was wifi if you needed it. And really, I can’t say a single bad word about the place.Michael - Buffalo, USA
Top location, beautiful deco, hearty personel, Delicious breakfast, great value for money, can’t ask more………
I read previous review about hard mattress and mad Internet, we didn’t have problems with that at all. The guide the hotel arranged for us was very honest too.Eve - Netherlands
Really nice hotel in perfect location. Great, attentive hosts and stunning atmosphere. I definetely recommend a stay at riad layalina if you visit Fes. Also a nice breakfast served at your convenience- hope to come back soon!Rune - Denmark
I stayed here with my girlfriend for four days during early January. The staff were incredibly accommodating, to the point where one morning we were served breakfast in our room and they brought up a table – we felt really bad as we didn’t expect that to happen so I don’t really recommend requesting breakfast in your room on whatever level you’re on – but we were so incredibly grateful for this. The location was awesome, we had a room where we could see the Tombe dei Merenidi through a tiny little bathroom window, but it was pretty awesome nevertheless. Beds were a little hard, so needed a couple of hours extra sleep to make up for that, there are also a lot of cats and dogs making noise in the area (I was new to Morocco so didn’t expect this).
We arranged airport transfers from the Riad’s driver, Ali – he was cool giving us little tips and stories on the way in. He did however give us Dirhams as change when we were going back to the Airport so make sure you have the correct Euros on you so that you don’t get the raw end of the deal only being able to convert half the Dirhams
The Tombe dei Merenidi was the highlight of the trip for us, just as well it was only a REALLY short walk from the Riad.Dom - London, UK
I stayed here for a night in Fez and I was well looked after; upon check in they treated me to some nice sweets and tea with a light dinner. The room was great, very comfortable and open. The riad itself is wonderful to look at. The owner was also very friendly and flexible, more than willing to bend the rules for me. The location was good because it was close enough to the medinat qadeemah to be convenient but far enough to have peace and quite. Definitely recommend giving it a go.Jack - Australia
My friend and I stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast is tasty, and the decor is beautiful. I highly recommend this riad to anyone who’s looking for quality and value in a great location.Modesto - San Francisco, US
My friend and I stayed at Riad Layalina in Fez recently and found it to be a charming place to stay with great service, a super helpful staff, and an outstanding location next to the old medina.
We arrived in Fes after a five hour ride from Erfoud, having completed a three day tour through the desert. Our trip had been a bit rougher than expected since the ride had brought us through sun, rain, and snow, and we’d not had a hot shower in two days. So imagine our surprise when we arrived at Riad Layalina to a hot meal and piping hot showers.
Now caveat – this place is not easy to find. The google map directions are correct – the location on Google is the building, but you need to keep going along the road to where you see the parking lot on your left and a small path on your right. Walk up that path to the first road you find, and turn right. Go to the end of that street and at the end (the first corner you come to), on the right side, is the Layalina. You basically need to do a big loop to find the main door.
When we came in, they settled us in a comfortable room with two beds, a private bathroom, and a space heater – all vital things considering where we had been. The dinner, a light chicken tagine with bread, tea and dessert, was such a nice treat. They took care to make sure our trip was comfortable and provided us with breakfast and then a bottle of water for the road. It was a bit chilly but the extra blankets and space heater kept us warm – and the hot water comes out really fast! 🙂
And lastly, when we told them we needed to leave a bit earlier than expected, they gave us some breakfast items the previous night so we would have them. How thoughtful!
I would highly recommend them in future!Aaron - San Francisco, California
Outstanding place. Thanks to you all for making my stay with you a pleasure. Helpfulness was your middle name. Ask and you will be accommodated. Great location. Awesome breakfast. Friendly atmosphere.Lilia
Riad, beautiful with very friendly staff and beautifully appointed rooms. There were sweets and mint tea when I arrived. It’s a little difficult to find but it’s well worth it. The best Riad I stayed in while I was in Morocco.Tony Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - United States
We have stayed in this Riad for 2 nights in October 2014. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the ground floor leading directly on the the court yard were breakfast was served. We loved the calm and relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast was good and generous. The location was very convenient. Our taxi could dropped us of directly outside the Riad and a short walk took us to the incredible Medina. Good value for money.Peggy - Enfield, UK
Exactly the same as the photos. We only had a short stay but the housekeeper was helpful and prepared mint tea and sweets even though we came in late, and then a big breakfast in the morning by the pool. He also arranged a taxi transfer to the airport and let us use the computer to print something. Would definitely recommend this Riad.Lilly - Australia
I stayed at Riad Layalina in July. From the second we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The riad itself absolutely stunning, with a beautiful courtyard and detailed tile work. From the rooftop terrace, you can see the medina and the surrounding area. The rooms are clean and the beds were comfortable. Plus, the rooms are air-conditioned which was a welcome fact in the sweltering heat. Upon arrival we were served mint tea, bottled water, and delicious tagine for a late lunch. The breakfast the following morning was delicious as well. They got us an excellent guide to take us through the medina. We had to check out of our room a few hours before we were set to leave, and they even offered us another room to shower in before we left. I cannot say enough about how kind and generous everyone was here.Jenni - Philadelphie, Pennsylvanie, USA
After a long journey and a short walk down a narrow alley, we came to our Riad Layalina. Leaving the alley behind we entered into this very charming hotel. The host offered us mint tea, cookies, and bottled water. It was like an oasis!
The hotel is small and charming, and filled with numerous details, such as the intricate carvings on the walls and ceilings, the Persian carpets on the floor, the Moroccan lamps, the windows with shutters on the inside that reveal stained glassed windows that can also open to let in fresh air. It was very enchanting.
For breakfast we were served fried eggs, some type of Moroccan bread with honey, figs, mint tea, and other items that escape me.
Radwan and the other members of the staff worked very hard to make our stay enjoyable.
The hotel was a very short walk to the Medina.Andrew Mark - Long Beach, California, USA
This riad is absolutely stunning! A beautiful courtyard, very well maintained, and nice and cool in the heat everywhere inside. Very traditional look with the mosaic tiles and painted glass windows, furniture and even the bathroom made me feel like being in a hammam. Even the small pool inside is made in a way that it blends in perfectly. It is just at the corner of the medina, a few minutes walk away from the hustle and bustle but it is quiet. It has a gated car park which was handy for us. We only had breakfast there but it was plentiful and delicious. And it has a roof terrace with a great view! We stayed 2 nights and it was a pleasure to get back to the riad every evening. Highly recommended!
This is a great place to stay for a real Riad experience – this is a guniune old Riad, very well preserved, just on the edge of Fes Medina, with a car park and easy access from the main road. The architecture and quality of the decorations in this old riad is fantastic, and it is good value for money. The rooms are small, because they are the original Riad rooms, but very cosy.
However, you will spend little time in the room, as this riad has a magnificent coutyard, shady and cool, with a small poll you can dip in (too small for a real swim). There is also a really good, large roof top terrace, which always has some shade. The food here is good (if expensive compared to the medina), and you get a free tomato and egg tagine and mint tea on arrival.
It is well positioned for expeloring the medina, close to the main entrance at the blue gate where there are more tourist-friendly restaurants, but also for exploring deeper into the medina, my favourite place in Morocco. It is about a 20 minute walk through the lanes to the central madrassa and the dyeing pits, a must see in Fez.Dr Bestione - Porto, Portugal
This Riad was easily as charming and beautifully decorated as many of the madrassas or mosques in Fes. On a hot afternoon we were blissfully happy to spend time by the pool gazing up at the surrounding building and drinking moroccan tea prepared by the helpful staff. They were kind enough to meet us on arrival with tea, sweets and traditional lunch and from then on nothing was too much trouble.
The mattresses were a little hard for our liking but rooms were otherwise very well done.
Location is very convenient for exploring the old city and markets.JC - Sydney Australia
We very much enjoyed our recent stay in Riad Layalina. Jerome was very helpful during the booking process, we were met at the train station and taken to the Riad. To our great surprise and delight we were then given a delicious tagine, water and mint tea, as it was quite late at night. We weren’t charged for this and we felt that this was a really nice touch and meant that we didn’t have to start wandering around Fes trying to find somewhere to eat after a long journey. Our rooms were nice although. Great aircon, nice breakfasts and charming staff made for a good stay. The riad is very traditional, close to the main street and with a lovely roof terrace and refreshing pool too. Highly recommended.Catherine - Banbury, UK
We had an amazing stay here. The riad is beautiful and the breakfasts are amazing. Try the honey and the jams!!
They guys are great and very helpful!Michelle - Sydney, Australia
Well worth the visit!!!
The rooms are highly decorated in Moroccan style but there is still a relaxed peacefulness about it.
Thanks to Said, Simon, and the whole Layalina staff for a very nice 4 night stay. My wife, adult son, and I completely enjoyed our time there. It’s a beautiful, comfortable, accessible home base right next to the action. I’ll miss my afternoon pool plunges, as well as your thoughtful kindness. A great place!Cali - Pleasanton, California
Beautiful and peaceful, ideal location, very friendly staff, full of warmth, lovely patio, lovely roof top. Sigh. Longing to coming back to that beautiful place in that beautiful city with these hospitabke people. Sigh again.Anouk - Switzerland
Layalina Fes MarocThis riad is a real Gem. We arrived after a 3 hour car trip to be greeted at the car and escourted from the streets of Fes into this most beautiful courtyard where are our luggage was put to one side and we were provided with some wonderful mint team and homemade Moroccan biscuits. It didn’t stop there, as it was around lunch time we were then brought a complementary lunch. Each of us had a steaming hot fresh tomato tagine placed in front of us, and after we had enjoyed our lovely meal we were then showed to our rooms.
The Riad is beautiful and well kept and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.Sean - Delft, Pays-Bas
As we arrived, without even asking our names we have been welcomed in the wonderful patio with Moroccan tea and, after a while, with a delicious tajine. Only once rested from the traveling and filled with food, they started with the formalities.
Staff is kind and ready to help.
Location is very good: just on the border of the old Medina, and few steps away from all the places you want to be.W - Zurich, Suisse
Rooms are (obviously) in Arabic style; maybe not always functioning, but clean and beautiful, with a thick hard mattress that is a treat to sleep on.
The patio (cannot avoid repeating it) with its little pool and fountain and plants and tiles is a pleasure for the soul, and when it’s not hot (early morning or sunset) the roof-terrace offers additional pleasures for the eye.
Loved this place: beautiful interior, relaxing entry rooms/foyer, great staff (Sayeed, Simo and Osama), decent breakfast (included), great location (by the Medina & parking lot, hence a bit noisy as well). The Riad welcomes you with a tagine, mint tea and cookies. Sayeed makes excellent egg tagine.
Will definitely go back to this place every time I visit Fes and to feed the neighborhood kittens.Kirthi - California, United States
When in Morocco, please take doggy bags (mention cats to the waiter and they pack an easy to open foil pack) of your left over meals for the cats and kittens…..they even eat couscous. Insha’Allah!
Me and my girlfriend spent a night in this fascinating riad, in the medina of Fes.
Everything was great: accommodation, position of the riad, architecture of the building, facilities (there’s a private parking).Luca - Varese, Italie
Jerome and the 2 guys of staff were Incredibly friendly (they welcomed us with a rich Moroccan lunch, when we arrived in the middle of the afternoon).
Definitely a great experience: suggested!!
During our stay in marroko we visited various hotels. riad layalina was the most romantic one.
Beatiyfull design with excellent service. we got tea and tajine for free when checking in. great staff.Gert - Munich, Germany
Super designed rooms. excellent stay;
Also just footsteps from medina fes
Great place to stay inside the medina, beautifully decorated and run by the the wonderful Jerome and his staff Said and Redwan. 2 minutes from the main streets of the medina yet very quiet and peaceful. Would recommend to anybody. Thanks for a great stay.John - London, UK
Everything about our stay in the Riad Layalina was wondeful. It’s like a little oasis when you walk in: gorgeous courtyard with a little pool. We were welcomed with sweet tea, Moroccan sweets, and a small kefta tagine! Really above and beyond. The guy in charge was great, really helpful, and he even walked us to a place he recommended for lunch when we asked for help. The room we stayed in was amazing, and as usual in Morocco, it came with a stunning bathroom. You can imagine when the aristocrats would bathe here! And the breakfast was superb – with a little change to it every day. I would definitely recommend this riad – and Fes in general!Siobhan - Bruxelles, Belgique
A Lovely Riad Tucked Away From The Hustle And Bustle of The Medina in Fes
My friends and I booked Riad Layalina because it has a suite that can accommodate 4 people (two bedrooms, one living room and one bathroom). We wanted to have a living room as a common area for hanging out when we need some privacy.Suvimon S - Bangkok, Thaïlande
The riad arranged for a Grand Taxi to pick us up at a reasonable 70 Dirham rate, which saved us from being scammed by taxi drivers at Gare ONCF de Fes.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and Jerome, the owner. Of course, mint tea and Moroccan cookies were served as a welcome gesture, but we were delighted to be offered a small meal: each of us got a delicious tajine with tomato and egg. It was a nice treat especially when our arrival time was past 1 PM.
The riad has a lovely courtyard and living room on the ground floor, but what I loved the most is that our suite was on the top floor and had ample ventilation and natural lighting. Windows could be opened to allow for sunlight and airflow, even in the bathroom.
Jerome was there to give us recommendations on where to eat and what to see. In order to give us the initial orientation, one of the staff walked us to the medina, which is less than 5 minutes away. Rue Talaa Kebira (one of the main roads in the medina) can easily be reached just by walking from the riad.
We loved the location of the riad in particular because it is accessible by taxi/car, whereas other riads right in the medina will require you to get off the taxi/car; then, haul your luggage throw the narrow alleys.
Riad Layalina was definitely a nice introduction to Morocco!
Nice little Riad with perfect location to access the center of Fez. The staff was more than welcoming and made great effort to make sure our stay was enjoyable. It is easy to recommend when treatment is this good.Cuitlahuac - Santander, Espagne
My colleague and I both greatly enjoyed our stay at the Riad Layalina. Though we had a hectic journey to Fez, the staff greeted us very warmly and provided a warm meal/snack upon arrival, which was delicious and very much unexpected. (I loved the tomato/egg tajine – that was a treat!) Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were also very nicely furnished and were beautiful, and the breakfast was great, too. The staff also helped to set us up with a tour guide, which was nice, since we had afternoon meetings in Ifrane and had only 2 hours to explore Fez.The Riad itself was beautiful, conveniently located, and had a great view from the terrace! If only we could have stayed longer.
Thank you, Jerome and staff, for your hospitality. I would highly recommend the Riad Layalina to friends in the future.John - Washington, USA
Great choice whether you are just stopping by for one night or thinking about staying few days in Fes.
Jérôme, the owner, is a great host and surrounded by a great team. He divides his life between is actual job in France and the passionate management of his riad in Fes. We’ve been lucky to meet him and share some good talks about Morocco in front of a fresh orange juice. He also suggested us where to go eating and drinking in Fes.
The cook at the riad is Moroccan and will prepare you great and abundant breakfast with crepes, jam, bread, cakes, orange juice, coffee, tea etc. And also fabulous dinner freshly cooked everyday.
We stayed in the twin room at the ground floor. Very clean and nice decorated. The bathroom also very clean and the shower a dream..huge and hot water 24 hours.
To point out that we arrived from Merzouga with the night bus which was supposed to get to Fes at 6am. We initially booked for one night and the plan was to go for a breakfast in the Medina and drop our backpacks at the riad afterwards. For some reasons we arrived at Fes at 3am and the only place we knew at that time was the riad. We werent expecting them to host us without notice but when we called at 3.30am they happily provided us with a room for the night and a nice breakfast in the morning..this is what I call a good service!
Last thing..the riad is located in a perfect position just few meters from the Medina and a bunch of mins from the gate Boujloud!!Alessio B - London, United Kingdom
Walking into the riad was breathtaking. I arrived early and was promptly greeted with mint tea and pastries. The rooms are more than comfortable, the food was delicious and the location was perfect because it’s on the edge of the medina. Jerome and his staff took care of all of our needs and recommended a guide who met our needs perfectly. I highly recommend this experience.Frances - Philadelphie, Pennsylvanie - USA
Beautifuly restored riad. Very helpful and nice owner. Professional and kind staff. Very clean and well located – worth to recommend! It has convenient parking which is not usual for accommodation in medina.Maja - Varsovie, Pologne
We spent one night here in March. It was wonderful. Greeted with a traditional meal on arrival. Property was a calm break from Fez and was picturesque and peaceful. Everyone was extremely attentive and pleasant.Matt - New York, USA
I am Moroccan and I had the difficult task of recommending a Riad to a friend of mine from the USA. I came a cross Riad Layalina by coincidence, and what a great experience it was. The owner was extremely helpful and professional. My friend had a fabulous time and was mesmerized by her stay at Riad Layalina. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to go to in Fes.Richard - New York, USA
The Riad is conveniently located – close to a road for taxis and close to the medina in Fes. It’s pretty easy to find (the name is in stone above the door). It was beautiful and clam inside. The service was very friendly and of high quality, and the rooms were well furnished and very comfortable. If you’re looking for a nice base to explore Fes – then this is a very good choice.Thomas - Doncaster, UK
We stayed at riad layalina for 4 nights in late feb on a two week trip around Morocco. It was the the most luxurious place we stayed at, peaceful (a real oasis of calm in hectic, chaotic fes!) beautifully decorated, our room was very cosy and clean, the adjoining bathroom was also clean (and huge!), we had a tv in the room with hundreds of channels (not that i usually watch tv on holiday, but after 10 days on the road and thanks to some rainy weather, it was nice to finally have that option at least), and a hearty hot breakfast every day (with the most delicious honey – i could have drunk a gallon of it). the staff are friendly and welcoming, going out of their way to help us (even with some rather random requests!). the location is excellent, very close to the main street and major sights in the medina, and at the same time only a five minute walk to the bus station. extra points for the unexpected and tasty lunch upon arrival.
we didnt stay anywhere else in fes, so i cant compare it to other riads there, but it was the best riad experience we had while in the country and objectively even, very good value for money.Michael, London
We stayed here for two nights t enjoy the city. We were welcomed with an (unexpected) lovely meal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The whole building is amazingly decorated. You can enjoy the sun from the roof terrace. Definitely recommendable.Laurens - Amsterdam, Pays-Bas
This Riad is perfect. And what makes it so good is Jerome and the people around him. He was so kind in helping us choose what to visit and we did get to see the best in Fes. The inner garden is WONDERFUL, it was a shock for us to come from the outside chaos into this oasis, where time seems to stay still. The view from the terrace is also great, you can very well enjoy a cup of mint tee. The guide Jerome arranged us for the medina was also great (didn’t take us to any shops, and spoke good english – Fettah Abdel email@example.com). I trully recommend. Enjoy FesAndrei - Austria
Riad Layalina is recommended for couples looking for a quiet and easy accessible place to stay, right next to the Medina of Fes. Comfortable and spacious rooms, good kitchen and friendly personnel. Free parking on a private parking lot is a nice bonus.Maarten - Louvain, Belgique
The riad layalina is the real atmospher of fes and morocco. Great patio and swiming pool, great view from the terrace wonderful. Good service as a friend home, next to the shopping street. I had a geat time. My home in fes.Andrea - Italy
Fez was our last stop in our travels through Morocco. Staying at Riad Layalina was the perfect ending! It was by far the best and most beautiful place we stayed. The staff was wonderful and we fell in love with them! The room was large, beautiful, and gave us spectacular views of Fez. We had a key not only for our room but to enter the door to the riad (very unusual to receive that advantage)! The public areas of this riad are exceptionally beautiful and guests obviously enjoyed this advantage as we met wonderful people staying there that were from U.S., Italy, Tanzinia~what a joy! The breakfasts were large and lovely. This Riad is very close to the entrance to the souk but just outside enough to not be in the madness (PERFECT)!
I am a picky clean freak from the U.S. and Riad Layalina met my standard! If we are ever back in the area I would not go anywhere else. They are fantastic on all levels!Edmonds - Greenville, South Carolina
My fiance and I returned from this riad almost a week ago, and we are still giddy from our fantastic stay here. We were met by Said in the nearby parking lot, who brought us and our bags into Riad Layalina– as soon as we entered, our jaws dropped: it is stunning! We were offered a tajine and Moroccan tea & marveled at all the riad’s beauty. There is a lovely rooftop terrace, that overlooks the historic medina, and the riad is in the perfect location to visit all the city’s must-sees (for ex. the “Blue Gate” can be reached in less than 10 mins!). The staff helped make our stay extra memorable– their warmth and hospitality made us feel like family, and we were truly sad to leave. After long days of exploring the medina, we ate delicious meals at the riad, were able to sleep soundly in the gorgeous and comfortable room we had booked, had no shortage of hot water (which unfortunately was not the case in many other places we stayed in Morocco) and updating friends and families on our journey was easy as the wifi worked very well.
There are many riads to choose from in/near the medina, but I would wholeheartedly recommend Riad Layalina for a perfect stay in Fes. Everything from the sweet staff, the yummy breakfasts, the location and the beauty of the riad was absolutely sublime. We had a fantastic experience, and will remember it fondly!Karrie - Luxembourg
We stayed at this lovely Riad for our last 3 nights in Morocco and wholeheartedly recommend it! You can drive yourself crazy (as we did) searching through reviews — do yourself a favour and book this one if it’s available, you won’t regret it!
First, the location is perfect. In the north-west corner of the Medina, thirty seconds from a parking lot (Ait Aizlen I believe) which makes pickup/dropoff easy. It takes about one minute to walk from the Riad to the main street (Talaa Kebira) and about 5-10 minutes to get to Bab Bou Jeloud (Blue Gate). In other words, perfectly located in a safe, easy to find area (by walking or taxi) and a great starting point to explore from. Easy to just walk straight down Talaa Kebira to see the souks, funduqs, Kairaouine mosque, tanneries etc.
The Riad itself is a work of art disguised as a hotel. No other way to describe it — it’s literally bursting with intricacy and beauty, from the floors up to the ceiling. I can only imagine what it would look like had we come in Spring/Summer instead of winter, when we could have properly appreciated the rooftop terrace. Jerome was quite helpful by e-mail when planning our visit but sadly was out of town when we arrived, leaving us in the capable and polite hands of Said. We were greeted with mint tea and a delicious egg/tomato tajine and sweets, even though we arrived late in the evening after dinner service. We reserved the junior suite on the first floor which was stunning, and had a cool loft area inside with two single beds which would have been great for a family. The shower was hot and with great pressure, much needed considering we woke up in a Bedouin tent that morning!
Breakfast consisted of a variety of Moroccan pancakes, pastries, fresh OJ — the standard we’ve noticed at most places in the country. The chef/housekeeper, Naima, was very sweet and clearly works hard! We booked the Moroccan cooking class with her and another sweet lady (Amal) and it was a cool experience — went to the nearby market with Said to buy the food (which involved them slaughtering our chicken in front of us, a true “local food” experience!) then watched the ladies cook it, getting tips along the way. They made us an absolute FEAST which we were shamefully unable to finish.
Quick tip for those staying here who are looking for a good, affordable place to eat nearby — check out Cafe Clock, about 5 min away which serves cheap, tasty food (vegetarian friendly!) and great coffee in a chill environment — we went everyday!
In summary, we would highly recommend staying here and many thanks to Jerome and his staff for an incredible end to our trip!Sean - Ottawa, Canada
We stayed here for 4 nights, in our almost-month long trip to Morocco. This was the last accommodation, and by far, one of the best riads!! We were even lucky since it was under promotion.
1. The location is great. We arrived there from the Gare-routiere in Fez, and it takes only about 10min walk from there! It’s right next to the gate to the souks in medina, but not in the complex jungle of small passages in medina.
2. The food. We were served a dinner when we’d arrived, which was the first time for us to be treated in any riads. The breakfast as well was just great.
3. Staff. The staff were very helpful, though not very fluent in English, dealing with my flight ticket, etc.
4. Etc. Wifi worked really good!
I’d definately suggest this riad, it’s the PERFECT place in FEZ!!!NG - London, UK
We had a wonderful short stay at the Riad Layalina. We were at the end of our 16 day trip to Morocco and the beautiful Riad and excellent hospitality was exactly what was needed to cap a great trip! The home is beautifully decorated and includes the little things such as the local soap dishes that brings that bit more of authenticity. You can see that the Riad was lovingly restored. It’s location is perfect just outside of one of the main thoroughfares in the Medina and only 5 minutes walk to the main ‘Blue Gate’. We had a delicious meal on our first night and the breakfast included was delightful. We had been to 6 other properties within Morocco and this Riad was the best for such a reasonable price. All of the staff were happy to help us and always had a welcoming smile!Tyrone - London, UK
What can I say?…this riad fulfilled all my expectations and more. Booking and communication beforehand was entirely straightforward and there were no hidden fees. I got a last minute bargain. Jerome answered all emails very quickly. Station pick up went smoothly, and I was greeted with not only mint tea but an unexpected (and much needed) tagine. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The room was beautiful, comfortable, and had heating which was welcome for Fes winter. The shower was good and hot and the bathroom beautiful with traditional polished plasterwork and mosaic tiling. The Internet really is high speed (or at least plenty fast enough for me) and you can get online anywhere in the riad.
I woke each morning to the coloured light spilling through the stained glass windows in my room to be served with a spread of Moroccan breakfast breads and cakes in the courtyard. The roof terrace has a fantastic view over the whole city and the Merinid tombs, and is a great place to hang out and sunbathe. I’m sure in warmer months the plunge pool would also be a welcome part of my stay.
The riad is situated in a very convenient and pleasant quiet location – it is next to a car park where petit taxis stop, and just off the Main Street, Talaa Kebira which you will walk up and down many times to see the sights and the souks. Being off it you have the proximity without the noise.
You will need at least 2 nights here and will likely want to extend your stay (as I did). Fes is a magical place that reveals more of itself the more you give of yourself. The spell has been cast and I shall certainly be back! Thank you all!Sarah - Kendal, UK
The trip was the present to my wife 60th birthday. all additional required services as taxi, dinner and last but not least a very early breakfast were accomplished by 100% by Said, Ousman and their Team; an absolut outstanding Performance.Robert - Pernes-Les-Fontaines, France
Lovingly restored, this riad is a true treasure to Fes! Just steps away from the bustling souk, the Riad Layalina is a welcome oasis of tranquility. The garden courtyard and fountain are the heart of the building. And sitting in the perfectly tiled courtyard, you feel transported back to a time when peace, privacy, and introspection were highly regarded and your courtyard was your own personal garden of eden. But, no matter how beautiful this riad or how thoughtfully the rooms have been appointed, it would be just a building without the people who are the soul of Riad Layalina. Jerome, Sayeed and the rest of the staff know the meaning of true hospitality and you are made to feel truly welcome from the moment you arrive to a delicious small tagine, homemade bread, mint tea and sweets. Fes is a lovely city, but we think that the kind and generous people of the Riad Layalina will be first on the list of our fondest memories of Fes.Greer - Portland, Oregon
A gorgeous riad, and the most lovely staff – I stayed here after a recommendation from a friend. As he promised, the location was perfect, the mint tea divine, and the sunset from the rooftop terrace was wonderful. The sassy ladies in the kitchen also cooked one of the best tagines I’d ever tasted!
The location was right at the edge of the medina, and 2 mins away from Tala Kabira, and 5 mins walk from the Blue Gate. Super convenient! The riad itself was a haven in the hectic city, and really worth the price; the decor was just incredible and it was a pleasure to sit in the courtyard and get some work done when I wanted a rest from the city!T.R - London, United Kingdom
I was a student visiting for the weekend in Fes and my friends and I found this wonderful Riad. They were quite accommodating and the rooms were above par for the price that we paid. Its location is ideal, only being a 7 minute walk to the blue gate. Waking up every morning to mint tea and traditional Moroccan food was one of the highlights of staying. The terrace surveyed the Medina and it is breathtaking to see the Palace on the hill and the mountains in the distance. Overall my stay at Riad Layalina was well worth the price I paid.Robert - Chestertown, Maryland
A beautiful Riad which creates an oasis of peace and calm. Elegant rooms, good service, roof-top terrace giving a spectacular views over all of old Fes and good food (they also make mint tea without sugar if that is more to your taste!). The Riad is in an excellent position on the edge of the medina so easy to find and return to and the taxi from the station drops you at the back door. We loved the pool and would return here if we go back to Fes.Rosie - Aberdeen, UK
I would highly recommend the Riad Layalina as we had a great stay there last month. The Riad arranged a driver to pick us up at the train station, which went seemlessly (despite our late arriving train) and we arrived easily to the Riad, which was clean, nice, and well decorated. Be advised that both entrances to the Riad are unassuming/unimpressive, however the inside is lovely. Since we were so late to arrive, the Riad kindly offered to go out and pick up take-out for us to eat in the hotel. My stomach was not feeling well, so they also very generously bought the ingredients to make me a special soothing rice pudding (which amazingly helped my stomach to settle!). We spent the next day wandering around the Medina on our own, which was very close by, visiting shops and the tannery. We decided to Make our way down to the bottom of the Medina and found a gate out of the maze and took a taxi back to the Riad. I also spent some time lounging by the pool (in the sun until about 2pm?) and tanning on the lovely roof terrace (sunny all day). The next day, the Riad arranged a day trip to the mountains for us with a private driver, which was enjoyable and worked very well. On our last night someone from the Riad came with us to the ATM at night so that we would feel safe taking out the sum of our payment in cash, since they dont take cards and we were 2 girls traveling alone. I should also mention that the breakfast was huge, with lots of breads and delicious orange juice. My only complaints are not really for the Riad, however, during our stay, the other guests took the ‘treat this as your home’ policy of the Riad a bit too liberally as they were constantly in the courtyard smoking and making lots of noise which we could hear in our room. Also, the driver that the Riad called to take us to the airport on the last day drove like an absolute maniac. Unfortunately, I can not remember his name, but hopefully the Riad will stop using his services.Aurora
Not only is it beautiful and has a great location, but the staff are really something else. we were greeted by a welcome meal and tea. The young man who seems to manage it has great English and is so accommodating. Him and the lady who cooks and cleans really made this place sparkle and would be the reason it always gets great reviews.Julia - Brisbane, Australia
Riad Lalayina will always hold a special place in my heart !
I was planning on three days and stayed three weeks. While Jerome, the owner is usually in France, the brothers that operate the Riad are the best staff you can find anywhere on the planet. And before I left Jerome came from France so I had the pleasure of meeting the man who put this place together.
Siad met me in the carpark and arranged for my luggage, I never carried a thing here ! The rooms are very warm and comfortable and designed with a pure Moroccan style, not the manufactured feel. I found my favorite room on the second floor and it became my second home.
What more can you want when you can have your tea and meals brought to you when ever you like and anything else you might need all you have to do is ask Siad and he will take care of it with the nicest demeanor.
The morning omelets, made by Aziz, were one of my favorites, they are so light & crisp with corn in the batter, the flavor is wonderful ! You can order any sort of dinners you like as long as they can find the ingredients somewhere in Fez.
Radouan, the oldest of the brothers was always available to work out details if necessary, he arranged for the best rooms at the best prices and helped me with many things, above and beyond the call of duty !
I miss Riad Lalayina very much and plan to visit Fez again as I am able !!Soraya - San Francisco, USA
I don’t know if I need to write a really long review about this place, as it seems like everyone else on here has more or less the same opinion as I do! Really had a lovely time here, staff was very helpful, location was great, and facilities were above par. Especially liked the plunge pool (although after about 3pm it’s no longer in direct light as its against the building) but still enjoyable to cool down.Simon - Austin, USA
Layalina is the most beautiful Riad; I was made to feel completely at home as soon as I arrived. I stayed in the Junior Suite, which is enormous and exquisite, and a room I would highly recommend. The family who run it went completely over and above board, booking me taxis, providing for all my needs, serving a delicious complementary meal on my arrival, and taking me on a twenty minute walk through the labyrinthine medina at 11pm to find the nearest cash point. I could not recommend it more highly. Either the courtyard with its small pool, or the rooftop with breathtaking views across the city and the surrounding hills are perfect places to relax. The only thing I would bring to your attention is that they require payment in cash – whether it be euros or dirham – which caught me out at the last minute, especially as the nearest cash point wouldn’t accept my card.Victoria - London, UK
Un remanso de paz en medio de la Medina. Fácil de llegar por nuestra cuenta, nos ayudaron para encontrar un taxi de vuelta al aeropuerto a la 6 de la mañana, se levantaron para preparanos el último desayuno.Adria - Barcelona, Spain
The service here was fantastic. Shahid was brilliant, and went well above and beyond good hospitality, taking me out around Fez and making me tea and juice. The moment I arrived, exhausted after a long journey I was welcomed with lovely food & tea. And the breakfasts were by far the best I have had in Morocco. Jerome was brilliant too and so kind. Big thank you for being so welcoming. The Riad itself is quite cute and homely with a nice roof terrace. But it really was the service that stood out for me and made me want to write a review.Adele - London, UK
Thanks for every body in riad layalina , mr jerome, abdul, anas, fatima and naemah …. its the best riad you can find in fes , you feel just like home with great location and lovely staff ,,,, its so clean and nice … i suggest this riad for every body i know.Thani - Dubaï, Émirats Arabes Unis
Super Hotel.
Kristin - Dortmund, Deutschland
Excellent location 3 mins to souks, great and friendly service by all staff, and an exeptional interior decor, both interior and exterior. Great breakfast service and everything was very warmth. We felt like we are living in a traditional good Morrocan place. comfortable is definitely there.Mafiq - Kuala Lumpur, Malaisie
A lovely building, and friendly, helpful service. Layalina is a clean, quiet haven from the chaos found in any Moroccan medina.Malaysia - Thailand
Just back from Laylina. Thank you Abdoul, Ali and the ladies we were so well looked after.
As others say the location of this riad is perfect – for access to the medina and the hills. We stayed 3 nights – totally loved it and would recommend it to others who want an authentic, comfortable experience.
As a family of 4 we had a 2 bed suite with access to roof terrace (crowning glory of the place).
We were given good advice about what to do, where to eat and adored Fez.
Would recommend a day trip to Volubilis and Moulay Idriss – quite a bit of time in the car but gorgeous landscapes and fascinating places to visit.

After a few days at Fes, Morocco and a few days at the Riad Layalina we decided to stay for the rest of our time in the amazing country. The Riad was beautifully and traditionaly decorated which enhanced our experience. The staff were so lovely and were happy to help with travel advise and shopping infomation. When I return to Morocco, I will return to the Riad Lalylina.Fremantle, Australia
One of the best looking riads in Fes, on a very central location: easy to reach by taxi, walking distance from the medina (downtown). Friendly staff and friendly french owner.Utrecht, Netherlands
We happily stayed at riad Layalina for 4 nights in October 2012. This riad is in a very good location, only few minutes walking distance to the Medina. We had a lovely spacious en-suite room decorated with traditional Moroccan style. Both rooms had comfortable firm queen size beds with clean bedding and extra blankets for cold nights. Bathroom was big, water was hot and strong. Free WiFi had good reception.
Breakfast was very nice everyday, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurt, a variety of homemade breads, butter and jams, eggs, coffee and mint tea. There is a beautiful courtyard, where you can plunge into a small pool in summer time. Besides, you can also relax at the rooftop.
Staffs (Abdul, Anis, Fatima and one more lady that I did not remember her name) were all very friendly, attentive and helpful, wonderful service; we had in-room dinners for couple of times.
As I mentioned earlier, this riad is 5-minuts walking distance to old medina and souks. Coming out the riad door, left turn to walk out the alley, then left turn again, 1 minute late you are out building complex and you will see the parking lot on the right, just walk towards that direction, you will be in the market in 2 minutes. By the way, you can see the parking lot from the rooftop.
We highly recommend this riad and will return to stay there again for sure.Jane - Davis, California
Layalina is a lovely Riad just outside the hustle and bustle of the Fez medina. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful, going over-and-above time and again to make sure our stay in Fez was enjoyable. The Riad itself is a little gem with a beautiful small pool and citrus tree in the courtyard and a spectacular common reading room. We arrived just as a some chillier weather hit, and the staff lit up an enormous space heater for us in the reading room each night. Layalina was a fantastic retreat from the craziness of the medina and we really felt like it was our home away from home for the couple of days we stayed there.John - Montreal, Canada
The riad is one of the most beautiful residences I have visited on our trip through Morocco andChi-Chen - San Diego, California
Europe. It’s courtyard and reception/family room are stunning. The location is ideal–at the edge of the medina, its backdoor accessible from a street. The staff was very thoughtful, we enjoyed this jam of a place very much.
What a lovely place. Don’t be put of when you arrive by taxi and get dropped of in a dusty car park. As with most things in Morocco the inside is a lot nicer. Abdul made us very welcome and organize a tour of the medina. The rooms are all great.Toronto, Canada
Wolfgang - Frankfurt, Deutschland
We spent two days exploring the shopping alleys, magnificent mosques and ancient tanneries from this riad. The refreshing plunge pool was wonderful after an afternoon of bargaining for an antique wool Berber rug. Breakfast was a peach smoothie, Moroccan tea, a variety of breads and an egg. The quiet magnificence with ornate tile floors and walls, wooden and stone carving details made this small hotel a very special treat.Raquel - Guanajuato, Mexico
Once we found the Riad, we were very happy to stay there. it is actually in a very good location, near the Medina entrance and the parking area where taxis can access. The rooms we stayed in were snug, pleasant and with reliable air conditioning.
Breakfast was bountiful with different kinds of homemade traditional breads, eggs, coffee and of course, mint tea.
We also had a fantastic guide to the Medina named Khadija (firstname.lastname@example.org). She was so knowledgeable and obviously well-respected that we hired her for two days. Several people on the streets including merchants we were not visiting stopped us to say how lucky we were to be with the nicest guide in Fes. I would heartily recommend her.Holly
An amazing Moroccan style palace beautifully restored. Chill by the pool or sunbathe on the roof terrace this charming Riad is a great place to stay in Fés. Well situated just one minute walk from the Medina, easy to find (the medina is a vertible labyrinth) . Breakfast is included and is fit for a king with a myriad of diferent breads, pancakes eggs etc. juices, teas, coffees. Rooms are comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful.Alexis - Barcelona, Spain
Riad Layalina was the perfect base for our family holiday in Fes this Easter. A stone’s throw from the entrance to the Medina, the location couldn’t have been better. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathrooms had plenty of hot water, and the delicious breakfast really set us up for the day’s exploring and adventure. We were looked after impeccably well by the charming team, for whom nothing was too much trouble. We could not recommend the Riad highly enough.Caroline - London, UK
We stayed at Riad Layalina for 4 nights in April 2012, 1 night in a suite and 3 nights in a triple room. There are 7 rooms around a beauitiful restored courtyard. There is a small plunge pool but it was a bit too cold when we were there. The location is just a few minutes walk from the a medina through a car park. The staff Abdul, Anise and Fatima were all very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, usually with 3 breads, jams, cheese, croissants, fresh juices, mint tea, coffee etc. The first morning we asked for breakfast to be served on the roof terrace, which was willingly provided. Beds were large, very firm and comfortable. There was good WiFi reception in our room and in the courtyard with no problems. We were offered help with our luggage on arrival and departure. Mint tea was provided on arrival. we were given lots of helpful advice about places to go and lent a guidebook and a map. We were even given a few useful phrases in Arabic. English, French and Arabic spoken by staff. We knew in advance that credit cards were not accepted this would have been more convenient for us. We would recommend staying here and would stay here again.Jane - Oxford, UK
Riad leylallina was the highlight of our trip and we could not recommend it enough. The staff (two young chaps) at the riad made our stay in fes stress free, with knowledgable guides, taxis and excursions organised on our request.
Breakfast was great and when we mentioned getting a train to Marrakech at 6am, the staff were only too happy to wake up to make sure we had been fed and had food for the train.
The room and the general decor really made us feel like we were experiencing the real morroco albeit the luxurious side.Adam
Based on the TripAdvisor reviews I booked three night in this Riad and I was not disappointed.
First, the location is superb. In all the Riads that I have ever visited this was the easiest one to find and least amount of walk to get to. Yet, it was easy to access to the best parts of the Medina and around the Medina.
Second, since I had booked 3 nights, I was served a simple dinner yet finger licking delicious. Then, I was served Mint tea, and mean while I was checked in.
Third, the room was superb. It was one of the roomiest room and bath area I saw in all Riads that I have been. The decor was just amazing (see my pictures). The bed was huge and comfortable. There was a good WiFi reception everywhere, including in my room. Safe, hair drier, satellite TV, Shampoo, Soap, Towel were all included.
Forth, the breakfast was made all fresh while I was at the table (bread, OJ, Pancake, fired bread, etc.) and was very deciduous (Fatima is an excellent cook)
Finally. The check out was painless and fast and the two brothers Abdul and Anis are really nice boys.
On the whole, I was pleased and I would stay in this place again, and I would certainly recommend the place to others.Cyrus - Dallas, USA
The Riad is located just next to an enterance of the Fès medina. It is right next to a parking lot, so if you have rented a car, like we did, it is very easy to access. We were here in the last week of December with a family of 4. 2 kids of 14 and 12. We stayed one night in the suite and one night in the junior suite.
What we liked:Tilburg, Netherlands
– perfect location
– the atmosphere and entourage was great! Nicely decorated, beautiful ceilings.
– great rooftop terrace
– nice and yummy breakfast!
– junior suite we liked better then the suite. (warmer room)
We chose this Riad from the positive reviews in Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. Close to the Medina (2min walk) and friendly, helpful staff. It has been tastefully restored but you need to be prepared for the hard mattresses. You can grab an excellent take away meal for approx US$3 from the Medina cooked in front of you and eat it back in the Riad courtyard adjacent to the plunge pool. It is worth hiring a guide for your first day to get your bearings around the Medina. Day trips to Volubilis and Meknes are easy and worthwhile – hire a guide through the Medina but make sure the price is agreed by all parties before you set off. Waking up at 4:00am to the roosters crowing is an experience in itself but all part of a great travel adventure. The roof top terrace is amazing and worth having breakfast up there.Sydney, Australia
Riad Layalina and it’s staff made our trip to Fez one to remember. I cannot even begin to explain all.Bill - San Francisco, USA
I really enjoyed staying at Riad Layalina, the location is good and the staff are great. Ali was a great driver for excursions and Jerome was a very kind host. The Riad is in a good location a few minutes’ walk from the main parts of the medina, with lots of shopping and restaurants within 5-10 minutes’ walk. The decor is very beautiful, it is lovingly done up and maintained and the breakfasts are good.Sara - London UK
Rooms very spacious, with a huge bathroom. We were on the bottom floor, handy to the plunge pool. Only the owner was very good with english. He was very good and organised our train tickets from fez to Tangier. We had use of the fridge in the kitchen where we could keep our tonic water and gin and also make ice.The Riad has been magnicantly restored and the tile work is amazing. The owner also let us use their computer to send emails.Adelaide, Australia
Of the 4 places we stayed whilst in Morocco this was the best. So calm and relaxing; it was a joy to stay there. We ate in the riad one evening and it was lovely. We ordered what we wanted earlier in the day and then ate in the courtyard. The food was of a high standard and plentiful. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was everyting and more that we had hoped for and it was nice to have the plunge pool there after a long walk through the medina. We used the guide recommended by the riad which worked out really well and we managed to see a lot in our short stay. The only problem we had was finding the riad when we arrived as we had travelled up from Rabat by hire car and the google instructions were useless. We took the risk of taking help from a local boy on a motorbike who led us to the carpark near the riad and then carried our cases to the riad door. We tried to tip him but he did not want our money but for us to ‘help’ his brother, an ‘official’ guide (with a badge and everything!). At this point we felt really pressured and unwillingly agreed to meet with his brother later that evening. However, Radouanne sorted this by getting rid of the brother when he arrived. He may have been genuine (the brother would not take the money we sent for the boy who had taken us there). It is such a shame you have to be so suspicious all the time. The riad is ideally located for easy access to the medina and the views (even from our shower) are wonderful. If we return to Fez we will be returning to Riad Layalina.Jane - Derby, UK
Beautiful Riad in a fantastic location, quiet but moments away from the Medina. Jerome, Radouanne and all the staff at Layalina made it an unforgettable stay. More like staying with friends than in a hotel. The many recommendations made by Jerome and Radouanne enabled us to experience sights and food we would never otherwise have found. Without doubt the best hotel experience I’ve ever had.Chris - Manchester, UK
A fantastic Riad in Fez. Well located close to the Medina, but no in the centre of it (important in Fez as it’s near impossible to find things in the Medina!). Food excellent, and filling. Staff friendly and welcoming, in particular the women who seemed to do all the work. Pool was a welcome relief from the summer heat. Riad Layalina is a great place for travellers looking for quiet, relaxing, and luxurious accommodation at a very affordable price! Just book it and go!London, UK
We stayed in the riad with our two kids (age 8) for 4 nights. We stayed in the suite with two double rooms and it was perfect. It was warm in Fes but luckily the airco in the rooms was very very silent! We loved the breakfast, plenty of very nice food. And the especially made diner was amazing. We did end up with some stomach problems but you never know where you pick that up in a land as Morocco!
The staff was very helpful, the shower broke down and they fixed it the same day. The kids loved the swimmingpool and I loved the fact there was free Wifi!Schalkhaar
We recommend this place to everyone going to Fes.
2 min walk to the main souk
Nice clean and very homely
The extremely friendly service of the manager Osama and his younger brother Abdoul made the stay more than perfectJamil - London, UK
Riad Layalina was our home away from home during our trip to Fez. The staff of this family run establishment are all very friendly and considerate. The riad itself is beautifully adorned with carved plasters, adorned wood ceilings, gorgeous mosaics, and a gorgeous rooftop terrace with a view of the medina. The room, public areas, and pool are all meticulously clean. The location is excellent, steps from the main street of the medina, but it is also far enough away to be a haven from the hustle and bustle of the old town.
The hospitality is truly amazing!! Upon our arrival we were served a delicious traditional Moroccan lunch, which was a totally unexpected treat. It consisted of a selection of salads, bread, cheese, a tagine a piece, amazing little Moroccan pastries, and Mint tea. We were then shown to our room which had been upgraded because the riad was not full and to ensure us more privacy. Breakfast was served every morning in the courtyard by the pool, when we woke up, not at a set time. This is a big plus for late risers!! We were served an abundant variety of Moroccan specialties, breads, jams, honey, cafe latte, fresh juice, and mint tea. On our last day in Fez, after we had already checked out of our room, and after a particularly hot day shopping in the medina, we were gicen access to a room to freshen up before our flight home.Sarzana, Italy
Really the hospitality is above and beyond, and we do not have enough good things to say about the Riad Layalina. We will never consider staying anywhere else on our future trips to Fez.
Our recent stay (for a total of 5 nights) at Riad Layalina was simply wonderful. The Riad was absolutely beautiful but perhaps more importantly, the staff at the Riad were fantastic and made us very welcome from the moment we arrived until we went. The location is excellent also as is the splendid breakfast. We were also treated to a tasty tagine and mint tea when we arrived at the Riad – around 8 pm in the evening, totally unexepected – but great. We would thorougly recommend the Riad.Leicester, UK
We spent 5 nights in this wonderful Riad. All rooms and suites are in excellent condition. The staff is very friendly and cooperative. All requests were immediately attended to. The Riad is very close to the Medina. From the roof top one has an extraordinary view of Fes. Jerome is the perfect host. We’ll come again if time allows.Gerth - Thuringia
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Riad Layalina!!! We arrived at the Riad after a tiring 7 hour train ride and a 10 minute cab ride. We weren’t sure what to expect…but boy were we blown away! The Riad is beautiful!!! My friend and I felt like royalty staying at a Morocan Palace…the detailing and decor is remarkable. The only thing that was better than the interior was the INCREDIBLE hospitality!!! We were greeted by one of the Riad Managers, Usama. He was a pure delight. He greeted us with smiles, a warm welcome, mint tea, and tomato and egg tangine!!! He told us we were home and he really meant it.
He showed us the communal spaces…the pool, the computer room, the kitchen, and the terrace. The terrace has a 360 degree view of Fes… I couldn’t get enough of that view! At night stars and all of the medina…and in the morning….hills, the medina, and all of beautiful fes!Jackie - New York, USA
Our first night at the riad, we spent hours chatting with the staff. We shared our music and culture with them and they shared theirs with us. I felt like I knew them forever. They are all super friendly and personable…Ive been home for some time now and I still miss them all.
Every morning breakfast is served when you wake up…not on a set time like other riads do. When we asked when breakfast was the response was “whenever you wake up,” how sweet is that!?! At my last riad that was definitely not the case! Breakfast is fresh traditional Moroccan flat bread, an egg omelet, jam, mint tea, coffee, fresh cold orange juice, and anything your heart desires. They were so accomodating!!!
They also gave advice about the medina and shopping, they didn’t push overpriced tours on us and gave us honest price suggestions for souvenirs.
The rooms are adorbale and the bathrooms are VERY CLEAN! The pressure was great in the showers. The Riad is super safe and in a GREAT location. It’s in the medina and steps from the main streets in the Medina. There’s a relaxing and very affordable Hammam minutes from the Riad. You have to do it!!!
After 3 days at the riad, we had to catch our flights home. We were so sad to leave our family in Fes, but we have vowed to come back to Layalina very soon. I completely fell in love with Fes thanks to the amazing staff at Layalina. YOU WILL NOT REGRET STAYING HERE…THE BEST MOROCCO HAS TO OFFER!!!
We stayed at the riad for two nights in April. We found the staff and owner very warm and welcoming.Lucy - London, UK
My partner and I were part of larger group visiting Fez for a few days on a motoring tour of Morocco. Most of our group stayed in the large Sofitel, while a few of us stayed in the Riad Layalina. The Riad was well placed near the Medina. We had complete peace, the rooms were beautiful and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They kindly organised a dinner party for us with only a few hours notice including local musciains and the designer of the riad’s restoration took the time to show us about the Medina during the day. Its a private feeling clean tastefully decorated Riad – the insides a beautiful – we certainly preferred it to the larger hotels we saw. Would recommend this riad to friends. Great experience.London, UK
Riad Layalina made our large group very, very welcome. The riad is simply beautiful and the staff so utterly hospitable, charming and helpful they really make a difference.Ross - London, UK
Unassuming outside, the inside of Riad Layalina is breathtakingly beautiful, a light airy space with a pretty pool, and plenty of comfortable places to sit. The rooms are charming and whilst not the last word in plush luxury, they are spacious, attractive and beautifully decorated with air-con and shuttered windows. Having thought the bed would be too hard, we found we both had fanastic night’s sleep, and the shutters kept out any early morning light or noise from the thriving souk that is a couple of minutes walk away. The staff were absolutely chaming, accompanying us to the souk, organising hammams, taxis, secure parking for our cars, a mechanic to tune them up, and washing them when we left. When the others in our group who had not been able to fit into Layalina wanted to join us for a party, dinner, drinks and music for 25 were organised in the space of three hours, and the staff were incredibly enthusiastic and forbearing, even as we danced into the small hours. My only improvements would be the provision of a hairdryer, and also perhaps the drying out of our bathroop, which had a slightly damp smell. Otherwise this is a beautiful, tranquil, relaxing place to stay, and fantastic value for money. We feel lucky to have been so well looked after.Elie - London, UK
